I have gotten more from Ryan’s lessons than anything else and absolutely way more value than any other lessons I’ve ever ever done
Wow thank you so much Karl!! Really appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for this, you're my go to whenever I have an upcoming tennis match
Love this Ryan checking my footage now! Thanks so much 👍
Ryan, I totally do this.
I play women’s 3.5 recreational tennis. It’s not once a set shot. Women love to keep moon ball rallies going until someone gets impatient and misses. I had a three hour singles match last week like this.
Don’t you generally want the stroke to have a similar speed throughout all of the swing
If we do it continuously and ball gets to us with delays, we are not just swinging and hitting the air?
Tell me you haven’t watched the whole video without telling me you haven’t watched the whole video.
@@2MinuteTennislol! Ouch!
Interesting! But how this works with common advice with early preparation? For example you've identified the incoming ball as your future forehand, then you did the half unit turn (preparation) and waiting to hit it... so you kind of have to pause?
What I get from Ryan is that you have to synchronize this motion with the trajectory, not so much the bounce of the ball.
But yes, sometimes with slow balls or balls that bounce weird due to some unexpected spin, or even to wait for a hint of where your opponent is moving, you have to pause the motion.
Based on this, would it be a good drill to swing at the ball in the air? At least this would take the bounce out of the equation.
Yep. Thanks the exact drill that I use to fix this issue with my students. If you hit out of the air, you have to use the contact to time the shot. This will teach you to ignore the bounce. Great job!
