It's impressive how you can keep releasing amazing helpful videos so often, I try not to miss one! I really want to thank you, I have been applying your tips and my game has improved so much in just a few months.
I am a total beginner, and I found beneficial the fact you were always showing the wrong way first, then the correct way. I could see my mistakes more clearly and better understand the reasons behind the proper movements. Thank you!
good to know that I'm doing it all correctly on my forehand. Since I'm an amateur coach as well as a player and have been trying to imitate pros for 50 years, I'd expect to be doing it right, but you are the ONE person I trust to doublecheck. Your video fix of Ian's one-handed backhand is the single finest tennis video I've ever seen. The only way I'd watch it more often is if you put in a cameo by Ana Kournikova.
Wow, Ryan, you're a very good teacher! After 25 years trying to learn how to play tennis, I've just discovered from you that I musn't point de ball with my left hand... Sorry for my writing mistakes, but I've been trying for 25 years to learn the English language, too! A huge from Barcelona.
Wow thank you so much Indranil! I’d love the chance to coach you. I personally teach people all around the world how to improve their technique, footwork, and strategy using Zoom lessons. You can sign up here: onlinetraining.2MinuteTennis.net/programs thanks!
great points.. upon seeing the "first mistake", I wondered, Did Ryan make this video after seeing my video? But then I saw the others, and realized.. hey, I dont make those mistakes as often anymore after taking lessons from Ryan! Great summary and love the drill suggestion at the end of hitting at different heights and aiming a certain distance above the net, and proportional to how far we are from the net. You are a tennis teaching genius Ryan!
Ryan, my man! You are a "CHOSEN ONE"! God has given u the natural skills and abilities to make this beautiful game to be understood and dissected. YOU ARE A "TENNIS SURGEON". CONGRATS 🤗
Thanks for the video! Really helpful. 8:15 You can extend the slinger bar handle up for a visual target to gauge the height of your shots (above/below the top of the handle, which is approximately one foot above the net). If you have it on video, you can then also quantify how often your balls had the correct height and really watch your progress over time.
Ryan sir the tips you gave to improve the forehand were really helpful and I have made some serious improvement on my forehand. Thank you for the videos
I applied you're suggestion of getting the non-dominant arm to catch the racket to my two-handed backhand. Wha?! What I mean is that I got my right arm to come further across to my right side on the two hander. It really helped! And of course, the forehand tips were gold! Thank you for your time and energy in making these videos.
I really like tip 1. I tend to do this a lot on my forehand, whereas on my backhand I tend to take the racquet back early. I liked the entire video. Aloha from Australia.
Great video and great advices. It´s been almost 8 months from I started to practice tennis, but now I realize I never aimed height of ball. Thank you for your great tips and I´ll try my best to improve myself with it!
So glad to hear that this video helped you. You’re not alone when it comes to not aiming over the net. Only about 5% of players actually have an idea of how high they want the ball to pass over the net. When you make this change it has a huge effect on your game. Thanks!!
For the ball to not get stuck I applied the "Professional-Grade Moldable Plastic Pellets by Polly Plastics" from amazon. I applied it on top of the rotating cross panel. I shaped the mold to have four vertically crossed mold then placed it on top of the crossed panel and have placed a glue to adhere permanently. This will help fix the issue of the ball sometimes not launching and instead will keep a regular steady feed flow. On the dial section for adjusting the ball height from the launch pad I applied a white "Fine Paint Marker for Rock Painting-Stone, Ceramic, Metal, Glass, Wood,Set of 6 Paint Pens High Volume Ink High Volume Ink for DIY Craft" from Amazon. I applied the white marker on the etched black line marker for better visibility, even from a distance. On the opening of the bag from the top entrance to place the racket I placed an elastic fiber string crosswise (made two holes on each side with a heated pointy metal) and that is where I hang my towel. There's more but this is enough for now. Thanks for letting me share.
Thank you so much, I realised that I was actually starting my swing late on my forehand resulting in crammed up and very inaccurate shots..My forehand is my biggest strength..and when it was getting a little messed up I started panicking…Thank you for this video..Will definitely try to move early and take the racquet back earlier…Thanks ❤
Wow, it's amazing how quickly you can churn out great content. One of the best youtube coaches for sure! Do you think you could make a video about volleying against different spins? I especially struggle to volley against extremely spinny sliced shots. I always hit the frame!
Catching the racquet helps me get ready to change grips. I find sometimes during rallies I fail to get the right grip, especially when running. This happens when I don't get my hand back on the racquet to turn it. So, I'm trying to always get my hand on the racquet between shots, catching helps this.
Great tips coach - on tip 3 it is actually quite easy to generate topspin with a squared up take back. If contact is made out in front with arm extended and the player can internally rotate their shoulder and rotating their racket left to right - you should be able to look engaging a relaxed forearm to bring the racket out and around, then even more topspin can be created with less effort, your tips 1&2 are extremely important for this
@@2MinuteTennis sure thing! I just want to add that I think leading on edge is ideal. One exercise I have my students do is to have them extended their arm to contact at slightly below 3 o'clock and have them vertically rotate their racket face to 12o'clock and then to 10 oclock pulling the racket right to left using the shoulder to bring the hand and forearm across the body kind of like tracing a rainbow staying relaxed and keeping the wrist passive
This video is So good!! I just find myself that all 5 mistakes common in my rally - even reduced it, but still need improve technics. Again - Thank you, I will review it commonly for sure.
@@2MinuteTennis №4 and 5 still not good, I keep racket in 2 hands on front and started turn body (like very much), food work better, big S also need improve. Reviewed video again!

Hey love your videos, can you create a video for teaching a total beginner on how to hit a moving ball coming at him? As well as moving to hit a moving ball? Man I find for all beginners this is the hardest thing to learn, for some it's a daunting task, for others they can get it with constant ball tossing. How do you help those that really have a hard time hitting a moving ball at them, a very slow ball to a medium paced ball? That would be a great video lesson. Thanks.
What is the difference in your strokes between your Low, Medium and High shots? It looks like it is all in your back swing. For low balls you don't drop the racket much. Medium - you drop it a little lower. High - you drop it down a lot like when you teach us the topspin shot.
My racket is to straight and parallel to the ground while hitting!! no wonder I hit the net too much and did not get topspin. So racket should point down a little bit and brush up, right?
2/5, although the technology you advocate is good, the technology you deny is not necessarily bad. In mechanics, that approach is also very effective. For example medvedev's backhand technique is exactly what you're objecting to.
Actually pointing at the ball really improved my forehand - I was hitting it late most of the time and pointing at the ball helps me visualize and hit at the right time. Its not like you point at the ball all the time, you let go right at the time when your forehand arm makes the juicy part of the move.
Many of these techniques assume that you are getting a non-chaotic random shot that is not hard to read. When beginners and intermediates rally ,and the ball is going out, landing short, going all over the place, it's a bit much to expect someone to catch the racquet with their left hand, no?
I would say that giving a beginner or intermediate player a place for their racket to go after hitting (catch with left hand) allows for the chaos and randomness to be tamed and controlled. Controlling the finish gives the student amazing control of their shots.
I wish I could count myself among those players honestly. I do find improvement using my off hand to help in the turn and bring the racket to my side, but really struggle to both point at the ball with my off hand and catch the racket. Both actions seem to hurt my shot significantly. Instead, I let my off hand naturally uncurl as my body rotates and I don't worry about the catch 🏃♂
