    I love camera flipping. It's so fun to find cameras at yard sales, check if they're working, and selling them on. You get to try so many cameras and the profits goes towards a better camera for you!

    A fun video, always neat to see older digital cameras unboxed in this fashion. I actually found a pristine Sony DSC-H1 at a thrift store that came with a screw on tele lens for about $35 and bought it. For an old low mpixel camera, it has a great lens and takes darn good photos. I'm very pleased with it.

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  Рік тому +5

      Wow, nice! The DSC-H1 was one of Sony's first AA powered longer zoom cameras. I agree with your assessment of pic quality too, the DSC-h1 and H2 that I've used quite a bit produce surprising good pictures, haven't tried with a tele lens though.

    Just for people who are curious; the SX530 does not shoot raw. Reason to not take it too seriously as an 'in between' :).
    Especially since there's plenty of point 'n shoots that do have raw (canon g9x for instance) and no DSLR's that don't.

    Loved it! I have a small hand full of old cameras that are best described as in the half-started stage of repairs, plus one nice film camera that only needed a reset to work perfectly.
    I enjoy messing around with this stuff, with mixed success.
    One minor, picky, point. I reckon the 'x' after the zoom factor - 20x, 30x, 50x - is a multiplication sign so should be pronounced as, for example," 20 times" not "20 ex". Or do USAians read "2 x 3 = 6" as "2 ex 3 dash over dash 6?" 🙂
    Despite that, I'll be watching more of your videos.

      @pricklypearcamera  Рік тому +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Cool the camera repair, I dabble in it as well, and am often not successful, haha! As for X- I guess I just use it as shorthand. When I was a camera buyer and working directly with Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, etc, all of the industry people also used "X" instead of "times", so just got used to it I suppose.

    Interesting that you wipe and reformat the internal memory. I get why you do it, but if the previous owner had purchased and installed any apps, not only does reformatting/resetting the internal memory erase those apps but in many cases those apps are no longer available for purchase or installation. I know my Sony DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras supporting the old Sony PlayMemories apps each have about $50 worth of apps installed, and after September 2023 those apps will no longer be available.
