Chris, I think you should go back and show Tom and Sean how easy it is to fish a canal. I could be wrong, but Tom needs some tuition, as he still hasn't caught from his garden peg. great vid.
100%. The fish care, reading the patterns for the fish, the presentation, music and himself give off a John Wilson vibe. We have TV companies burning money up the spout on trash shows when we could have low cost wholesome fishing shows presented by a few of the YT streamers. Fishing with Carl is another great channel. Stephen Hendry is doing better YT content than the BBC or ITV and trying to give the snooker players a personallity we don't normally get to see. Hendry, like Chris, is a top bloke.
As an American I love watching your videos to see all the interesting species you fish. Only fish we seem to have in common are perch and pike. But our perch generally don't get anywhere as big as the ones you get! Your vids are so fun and relaxing to enjoy.
30 yrs ago...youd have had your own TV series, I swear it.the Internet killed all that, such a shame. You've got some talent lad,I give you that.keep it up young fella.
@imraduin but they had something....nostalgia. today any fool can make videos, even talentless people. My point....ginger fisherman would have stood out in an era of talented anglers/presenters.
All beautifully filmed capturing the atmosphere of the early morning bye the river/canal . The mist on the water and the wildlife that you can encounter and some really nice fish. Loved it.
Absolutely love Tench, next to Barbel they are my favourite species. Great to see it's not just me these days fishing 'old school' with the float. Lily pads, bubbles, those powerful runs - What's not to like?
Hi GF, high time you come to Australia to give you a chance to exercise your undoubted catching skills to land: freshwater Murray Cod weighing anything up to 40 pound, carp measuring 75 centimetres plus, which are genuinely carnivorous and will take a fly. We have any number of your admirers who as fishing experts and fishing video producers would love to show you a few challenges!
The tench are well on the feed in ireland already due to such a mild winter. Usually we have to wait till late May before we start bagging up. Different story trying to catch a tench in cold water. Never doubt your ability .
Beautiful start to the video with the bird songs, spring is awesome. Some good information for us all to take to the banks with us. Yet again another great video, Chris.
Well done Chris! First Tinca of the season covered in red spawning spots. I'm sure you'll be into a few more as the weather improves. Great to see you simple float fish too. 👍🎣
chris....❤ your vids the last few months .... So much i have got myself a lure/spin travel rod n real ect.....just enough to fit behind drivers seat ( only room a bloke is given when going on holl 😂 ) and will be fishing the river tay in 2 weeks time with a wee dram in-between 👌👍
When I fished canals as a boy in the Midlands the water was never clear like the fantastic canal you fish - I’m in Sweden now and guess what- the canals here are muddy! I’m so jealous🙂
Another enjoyable video, the best bits were the closeups of your float and watching the bites. I still can not get used to being able to fish cannals and lakes in what would have historically been the closed season. That gravid perch was a classic example of why you shouldn't fish then.
What a crackin day Chris - great fun to watch! I think that perch was about to spawn and the tench had just been spawning too - all the red marks and skinny mid section.
I am so jealous mate. Ive got another week or so till I can get out to fish. Then itll be Monster Carp and Channel Cats. I cant wait.. Im living vicariously through you right now. Nice catches you got there. Cheers.
Got to love a tench chris I fish a canal most of the time in sommerset and the place is full of them they go to 7 or 8lb and they are great sport on the feeder rod 🎣👊💯
if some people were more careful when landing there fish the fins would not get damaged as a number of fish in this video , great vid though ,keep em comeing.
I've fished canals around me (Warwickshire, Worcestershire) for about 4 years. I've caught 2 small pike and a reasonable zander. That's it. I've fished for carp and tench in canals millions of times. No luck. The canals near me are always the colour of hot chocolate and there's so much boat traffic. I use the same methods on the river and I'm usually successful. So Chris and other professionals, is it me, or are the canals near me just absolute poop?
Chris, was that tench healthy? That red rash looked a bit like Spring viremia, although i think that disease was eradicated from the UK some time ago. I remember seeing pics of it in the Angling press (in carp, but it affects all Cyprinids). There was a red rash just like that. Or maybe it's the fish's natural colour?
Exactly what is a wild canal .... A. a canal that fought it's own way through North England against it's oppressors ? B. a canal that was once tame but has since gone wild. C. a canal full of Tuna.
Mate somehow it's never dawned on me I don't need a float stop both sides of the float! I fish a deep river near me and its a nightmare casting with such a deep float but obvious if it can slide down the line it's no problem!!! Thanks mate feel a right idiot now because I know that's how to do it when dead baiting.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your vids, one question I have to ask though is....HOW are you fishing a river/canal on off season??? Every water I want to fish is a no go unless it is a lake/pond and I have to pay for it!!!
BTW I'm in my early 50s and have been fishing since before I was in my teens!! And still not allowed to fish on rivers/canals without getting done by authorities!!!!
i have seen a lot of people fishing canals rivers this time of year did they do away with the off season? or are these exempt? i know its spawning season but not had the weather but hopefully that perch is full of spawn
It's considered bad etiquette to ask people where they fish, especially online, no one will tell you where they fish because the place will either become a shithole or get emptied. Find your own marks.
There’s one thing I’d change about your videos!! Make the longer 😂😂 could watch all day
I said the same a few weeks ago,
No canals anywhere near me, got pits and a shallow Cray and otter infested section of the Suffolk stour
Get out there mate 😊
Love it

Agreed
Chris, I think you should go back and show Tom and Sean how easy it is to fish a canal. I could be wrong, but Tom needs some tuition, as he still hasn't caught from his garden peg. great vid.
I think you are correct he deffo not having any luck with the swans
Great production, love the float shots, music suited too. The Ginger John Wilson, well done Chris.
He's such a gentleman. Love watching his days out fishing ❤

remember Angling Today with Terry Thomas and a young Chris Tarrant plus Out of Town with Jack Hargreaves..this was in the 70s
TV series are outdated, it's not the way people consume media now a days. UA-cam and similar reaches more people than the networks do.
@imraduin but they had something....nostalgia. today any fool can make videos, even talentless people. My point....ginger fisherman would have stood out in an era of talented anglers/presenters.
@@imraduin indeed. I reckon TGF gets more viewers per installment than Roland Martin or Bill Dance could have dreamed of back in the day
@@mattlenton2012 He still does. Plenty of talented YT personalities making fishing content - TGF still stands apart
Perch belly's are full of spawn at this time of year. They lay nets of eggs over structure underwater. Amazing to see.
The way the float went for the perch was a float angler's dream.
All beautifully filmed capturing the atmosphere of the early morning bye the river/canal . The mist on the water and the wildlife that you can encounter and some really nice fish. Loved it.
I do hope that was filmed on the snagbro 's pros only canal stretch!?
Absolutely love Tench, next to Barbel they are my favourite species. Great to see it's not just me these days fishing 'old school' with the float. Lily pads, bubbles, those powerful runs - What's not to like?
1.41 BRO THAT FINGER MOVEMENT WAS RAPIDO. GREAT VID THANK YOU.
🤣🤣 I think it's sped up mate, don't know how you noticed that
Canal fishing always throws surprises! 🔥 Great fishing Chris! 🎣
Feels strange watching you float fish!
Is that snagged bro's garden peg 😂😅
Fooking hell, you could have gone bowling with that perch! 😂 Great video as always gingy! Some really lovely camera work in this one
My dreams come true ginger tench on the canal tinca tinca thanks chris 😊

I'm normally a predator fisherman, but I have to say this vid was stunning, cinematography spot on,loved it 👌
Those Yorkshire canals are head & shoulders above the one near me in Northants. Seldom see fish of this size reported.
The tench are well on the feed in ireland already due to such a mild winter. Usually we have to wait till late May before we start bagging up. Different story trying to catch a tench in cold water. Never doubt your ability .
I think Ginger is the grandson of the great Rex Hunt
Beautiful start to the video with the bird songs, spring is awesome. Some good information for us all to take to the banks with us. Yet again another great video, Chris.
Wow a tench on the canal. Unbelievable. What a beast the perch was. Whereabouts are you fishing on the canal? Looks really nice
Could the perch be full of spawn making it so big? It is the spawning season (close season on rivers) for a reason.
Thank you Chris. Lovely work.
Another great session Chris and footage well captured. Some cracking canal specimens there. Thank you

The new Jack Hargreaves. Your content could expand to include fishing and other country activities.

Great job buddy 🎣🐟👍🏻you caught a perch puffer fish 🎣🐟amazing video as always 👍🏻someone please give this man he’s own tv program🎣🐟👍🏻
Cracking video Chris and some great catches there 🎣 caught a good size Carp last week picked it up and it weighed nothing, spawning.
Great video wish the canals where like this in Scotland.
You are very good at this UA-cam stuff gingerman 👊
Lovely chilling watch Chris.some nice fish too.

Always good to see your vids Chris
Never get bored of watching your videos best fisherman on UA-cam love your vids mate!❤
loved the video i think canal and river fishing is slowy a dieing art now because of commercial fisheries
I am so jealous mate. Ive got another week or so till I can get out to fish. Then itll be Monster Carp and Channel Cats. I cant wait.. Im living vicariously through you right now. Nice catches you got there. Cheers.
Looked really old, that first tinca, dude. Lovely video, as per!
Pete 🏴
Mad, I rarely watch UA-cam and do all my watching in big bursts, you’ve grown by 80k subs! And the content is better than ever! Awesome work Chris!
I enjoyed this video thanks mate. Love seeing Tench.
On a Monday what a pleasant surprise!
Absolute class as usual chris, think that perch was a hybrid, crossed with a puffer fish lol
It was spawn laiden and should have been put straight back.
You're Killin' It
That is a gangsta tench.
John Wilson reborn, your smashing it mate. your content is A1, keep them coming pal. 👏
awsome video Chris. nice fish for canal🎣
Brilliant video as usual Chris!!
I’ve never done canal or river fishing but you make me want to have ago bro great session happy fishing bro 👊
Three nice fish...man that was one gravid pumpkin of a perch...
wish there were canals in my area, right now im just stuck to my local pond. love the videos though theyre amazing! just wish they were longer haha
Very beautiful this video 👀🧠🎣👀🧠👏

Used to catch tench in the gravel pits at st Ives cambs also just south of the lock under the bypass holds some good bream and Chubb
Some lovely healthy looking fish that bream looked like it has been on steroids 👌🎣as always awesome angling brother 😎 🎣👍👌🍻🐐♥
Them muntjack are getting about
I caught my first tench ever yesterday, only my first one because I don't target them and where I usually fish doesn't hold them
Great fishing mate! Just wondering when I should start targeting perch on microjigs in my local canal?
if some people were more careful when landing there fish the fins would not get damaged as a number of fish in this video , great vid though ,keep em comeing.
Who wants merch cause I’d buy it ??
Can’t be pros only canal then😂
Well done mate. Decent seseion
legend
Excellent video, music reminds me of Jack Hargreaves " Out of town" maybe a video on the theme of Turk's pond
what were all the red markings on that first tench ?
the fish always look bigger than they actually are because they are closer to the camera
Great content again
Nice work Shrek

Love your videos Chris . Can you still fish canals out of season ?
Great times early bird catches the worm
I won't lie I pack my black gloves for pike& especially bream😂
No better fresh water fishing channel on youtube in my opion.. Also, whats the reasoning behind being able to fish canals during close season??
Love this video

Definitely a pregnant perch
Hi ginger fisherman, is it only rivers that closed during spawning season
lovely big bream though
