Undertale is one of our favourite tracks from the Undertale soundtrack, so we think it is very fitting that it was chosen to honour a fan of the game.

"Good evening, Samuel and Andrew,
I am writing this email on behalf of a circle of friends, to ask if the two of you accepted commissions for piano pieces on your channel.
Just yesterday, we lost a very dear friend named Chris Taylor to osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. Chris had, in the past, been deemed a cancer survivor three times, fighting every day's battles with a smile on his face, but the fourth diagnosis was unfortunately a terminal one. When the news came, Chris informed us that he only had at most a few months left to live, and we wanted to make sure his last moments were some of his best, including a campaign we started on Twitter to have Nintendo of Canada let Chris play a demo version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, when he feared that he wouldn't live to see the game's release in December.
Chris' wish drew together thousands of supporters across Twitter, Reddit, UA-cam, and other social media services, and it all came true on Friday, September 21. He died peacefully just 4 days later, at only 21 years of age, but his story has left a clear impact on the internet, with outlets as large as the BBC reporting on his story.
If it is indeed possible, we wanted to commission a cover of the song "Undertale" from Undertale as a memorial to Chris. Undertale was one of his favourite games, one that left a lasting impact on his view of life, and we felt that that particular song would be appropriate to honour his life and legacy, both to those of us who knew Chris personally, and to those who came to know him within the final week of his life and were struck by his determination to keep going until the very end.

I know this is gonna get lost forever in the thousands of comments already posted, but I love the choice of music for this tribute. Undertale is the only song on the OST that actually moves me emotionally. This song is my favorite out-of-combat theme, along with His Theme (but they're almost identical, so...). This song is already a tribute to one who's Fallen Down, one that will forever be in our hearts, so it just fits that another Angel should have this tribute to him as well. R.I.P, Chris. You will forever live on in our hearts, and our souls. And to his family and friends, may you be filled with Patience for reading these lengthy comments, Bravery to continue living, Integrity to hold up Chris's honor, Perseverance to fight through all hardships that may come, Kindness to never go astray, Justice to remember what is right, and most of all, DETERMINATION, so that you can have a perfect day, every day. Cancer is the worst. even if you survive it four times and everything looks like your life is going great. it can still come back and take you away from the love ones do care for you. This is why I am going to research my very best about cancer if I can, Chris died too young, only 21? Even if he was a bad person, who did some mischief, he didn’t deserve death at a young age.

Welp. I cried a fair bit just now.
It's a very fitting cover for him. It's sad, because he's gone. But it's simultaneously uplifting, just like Chris's attitude. He stared death in the face for months and kept smiling, even though there were harder times than others.

This is the first time I've ever cried listening to a Undertale song. It's absolutely fantastic that a big channel like Sheet Music Boss does these things. This is a really sad story, and I'm proud of Chris' friends that did so much for him before he passed away. My heart goes out to all Chris' friends and family. R.I.P Chris Taylor. You're forever alive in this song and the memory and hearts of the people that you had close. Massive respect to Sheet Music Boss for doing this as a last wish for Chris.

To see a UA-cam channel as big as sheet music boss care so specially for their fans puts so much hope in my heart for humanity. You're not caught up in the fame, you're real and down to earth people. Even if Chris Taylor died, I'm happy that he passed away happy around his friends and family. He even got to play Smash! He knew his fate, no wonder why he stopped treatment, but also knew that everyone is supporting him no matter what. Beautiful cover.
Damn. Just found this video and I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. I had a childhood friend a couple months ago pass away to cancer (Neuroblastoma) as well, and he had gotten to play a demo of Fallout 76 and even got an exclusive signed Power Suit helmet signed by Todd Howard himself, and this video made me think of him, as well (also kinda made me cry). Not sure if he was a fan of Undertale, but I'm sure he would've been. May they both rest in peace up there, and hopefully heaven has video games, too.

Thank you so, so much for helping us honour and remember Chris. I may not have known him as well as the other friends in our circle, but the time I did get to spend with Chris was truly special, just as he was. From convention meet-ups to Discord chats and our efforts to fulfill his final wishes, we'll all treasure such memories dearly.
Whatever place lies beyond death, I'd like to hope that Chris is on the other side, seeing how many lives he impacted--and continues to influence. He took on each day's challenges with a smile and an unbreakable spirit, even through the toughest of times, and I'm sure he's smiling now, just as much.
I know it's corny to say here, but his sense of determination has stuck with all of us since the day we had the pleasure of meeting him.

I can't offer moving speeches or comforting words beyond what has already been said; I've really never been good at that.
What I can say is, this song has made me cry on more than one occasion. It has always left an impact on me. Everything about it. The story, the choice of title, the context of its appearance. I can't often shed tears over fictional characters, stories, or worlds, even though I do truly care about them; but this song breaks me.
This song makes me cry, and today, right now, was not an exception.

I know that this was a commission and all, but I'm truly thankful that you agreed to do this.
Chris was a very close friend of mine, he was practically a brother to me (you can see the two of us together at 2:59; it was the first time we met up in person). He was always so honest and supportive, always there for you when you needed some advice or even just someone to talk to. He almost always had a smile on his face, even with his condition, and when his cancer got progressively worse and worse, he refused to let it get to him. If there was anyone deserving of the chance to play Smash Ultimate before release, without a doubt it'd be him, which made me so grateful that he got that opportunity before he died.
I can also guarantee that, if he were still around, he would've absolutely loved this cover you've done. Undertale was a game he held near and dear to his heart, it meant a lot to him. I still remember how after the game came out, he went ahead and gifted the game to pretty much all of his Steam friends who hadn't gotten it yet; it was actually because of Chris that I first played Undertale myself.
Once again, thank you so much for this. It really means a lot to me and so many others.

Rest in peace Chris Taylor. I'm glad he got to achieve his dream of playing Smash Ultimate as well, and I certainly didn't expect this either. I remember seeing the first tweet, where he dropped "I'm afraid I won't get to play Smash Ultimate.", and my heart sank. It felt nice seeing all the Smash Bros. players I follow RT and then it spread to Reddit, and eventually it happened. Only about a day or two later, his brother announced he had passed. So much was done to remember this guy and honestly, I don't think I'll forget for as long as I play Smash either lol. I'm glad he had such great friends and family. Chris Taylor is honestly a name of legend of sorts to me.
Chris seemed like a great guy. He had a wish. It came true. He may not be here anymore, but his story lives on.

I don’t mean to take the spotlight away from Chris, but I can’t help but think of a former friend.
When I was younger, around 4 - 6, I had a friend name Ben I knew from a daycare church I went too at the time. We would always hang out after the daycare with my sister and my brother (who shares the same name) and play in the playground behind the daycare. But he had leave eventually, cancer, don’t remember what kind but it was bad. I remember participating in a fund raiser where we rode bikes around a small area.
One thing I’ll never forget was when me, ben, my sister, and my brother were playing on a swing kinda late at night.
After a while I didn’t see him for a year or two, confused I asked my mom who said he had died a while ago, grief stricken I sat in my room and thought.
Now I’m 12 and there is a bench in front of the courtyard that has his name inscribed on it, whenever I go on a bike ride down there I sit on the bench and enjoy the moment.
Hope you safe ben, I’ll never forget you buddy.

I agree. Undertale is a wonderful game, and is full of heart and soul, literally and figuratively. The music is beautiful and conveys emotions so well, and the characters are relatable and unique. Its quick rise to fame was a curse just as much as it was a gift. Its popularity made memes and stuff of it, which then just got old and made people start to dislike it because of the memes. But no matter what people say, undertale is a beautiful game and, with songs like this, can convey some of the most important messages of our generation.

I have lost someone very dear myself to an osteosarcoma, my little brother. This week it's been 3 months without him so it's still hard to cope with the loss, and hearing this track with a story so relatable of course made me feel very emotional. Undertale was probably his favorite game ever, and sadly I only got to play it recently after he was already gone. This track will always remind me of him and how many beautiful things I got to experience because of him, so in a way this is also a tribute to Max. He was also learning to play the piano and your arrangement of Home was one of the pieces he spent the most time playing. So thank you, even if this video is already 6 years old ❤

This song made me cry as I walked back through the map (the long route) talking to everyone that they were now free. I got to the beginning once more, and said my final goodbyes to Asriel. I then take the fastest route possible back to the barrier, and went through as the song ended its 5th (I think, it was a while ago) cycle.
This is a brilliant song to send someone off with as it captures all the happy memories and adds that tint of grief in the powermove that is the piano.
But my favourite part of this video is, even after looking through the description, you did not ask for likes. You didn't ask for subscribers. You showed tact and basic human decency, something this world is lacking severely. This is the only case (aside from the just as unfortunate passing of Stefan Karl Steffanson, AKA Robbie Rotten, AKA Number One) that I have seen the death of a person bring such power and unity through so many varied individuals who never knew them.
The one thing that disgusts me out of all of this, though? The fact that 62 people (as of writing) had the GALL to dislike this video. I don't care that you don't like Undertale. I don't care if you don't like the channel in particular. You do not, I repeat DO NOT disrespect the passing of another human being, EVER, unless they are LITERALLY HITLER. Even then, you don't do it, no matter how heinous his crimes against Jews, Slavs, Communists, and humanity in genaral are. Death is not something to joke about, and I am offended on behalf of the human race that ANYONE, let alone 62 SEPERATE INDIVIDUALS had the AUDACITY to do such a thing. Chris Taylor has a family, one who is now grieving. Way to put salt in the wound, you degenerated wastes of precious oxygen.

I think this is a great fit for a memorial song, as it's used as Asriel's theme, along with "His Theme". And as we all know, Asriel is the dead prince. So this is quite fitting.
