He tried to use the effect of a monster he had, so I played Solemn Judgement to counter, then the guy flips up a Compulsory Evacuation Device to try and bounce it back. I obviously tell him he can't do that because Compulse's Spell Speed isn't fast enough to chain, and he proceeds to tell me the following.
"My guy, Spell Speeds aren't a thing"

So he probably saw it was a monster card and thought, "wait a minute, that wasn't on the field, is he summoning it and trying to use it? He must be new and not know that it's still my turn!".

Also doesn't hurt my reputation concerning my Custom Deck being formidable! I was on a shoestring budget at the time, I barely had the money to build a proper Deck, so I made my own, I've kept pace with what relevant modern cards do and have updated it accordingly! It predated Synchros, but now has Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Link Monsters (no Pendulum) as part of an extended set of more powerful versions of the Main Deck set that has been modified to support them more closely!

I've once entered an official mtg tournament with some cards printed on paper and put them inside other card sleeves. I did this because I had expensive cards that were on CHINESE and it would be just unpractical to show them the original card translation.
    Judges were fine with it.
I've seen players cheating using chinese cards and explaining what they did to their opponents. For example, i've once played against a guy who played a coat of arms and he didnt told me it affected my creatures as well. He was extremely confident that I didnt knew what that card did.
I just played a saprolin burst, used 6 of its 7 tokens to create 6 1/1 saprolins , and each one of them got +5/+5 from my enemy coat of arms and hit him with 36 damage (thanks to yamivaya fire's haste).
He even called a judge and claimed I was cheating. But as we got the coat of arms translation it was clear that he knew how it worked.

I don’t know if this will be posted or not on one of his videos, but story time. When zoo was at its prime along with the other decks running around. Mainly I was playing a bad deck. I was playing Crystrons. A made of machine monsters that syn on your opponent’s turn at a regional. Then you all need to focus on one card. Wing dragon of ra Spear mode that was being played at this time to deal with boards. Now the effect to summon a ra from hand or deck. My friends told me not to side it or main ra. “I said what if though”. Now I’m in round 4 surprisingly winning two before hand. I’m playing against zoo player. I managed to set up a decent board. I managed to keep there’s cleared until they spear moded me and solemn my one card putting them to 4000. While I’m still at 8000. Now it was my turn to draw. I went in to main phase. I said “I activate spear effect”. The look of dread 😢 on this mans face of a ra in zoo format is about to kill me. With my friends losing it less than a foot from me as I’m doing this. I attempted to enter battle phase. He flips scape goat. He doesn’t realize ra can pop monsters 😅 for a 1000 life points a card on field. Not once per turn. So I payed 4000 to clear his board. Then killed him. No game two or anything. He had simply picked up his cards and walked off then what happened to him honestly don’t know. As I’m cleaning up my friends ask me “why did you play ra lol😂?” I simply said “it’s a good card” and had fun for the remainder of the regional that day. That’s one of my best moments playing this game. Being told jank doesn’t work then it works. Then knowing you can’t be told doesn’t work.

I cant even be mad at it being fake. Konami drives up prices of the TCG cards so much and bans OCG cards which are typically cheaper despite them being effectively the same damn card. I wanted to make s Rescue-ACE deck, but buying the required cards which were dirt cheap comparatively on the ocg market was just out of the question.

    Story Time:
For time sake, just call me Shaman.
My story happened a few months ago. Around February to be clearer. I was at a locals in South Carolina (USA), and just wanted to try out my Cyberdark deck I had just finished updating. I had the deck since 2022 and have been revamping it ever since. So, as I go in, I notice that there's 2 guys that do not look familiar at all. Brand new faces in a card shop that is usually full of the same people everytime. From what I could see, they had decks ready for locals and had just bought some booster boxes and were opening cards and figuring out what cards they liked. I walked over and introduced myself, and for anonymity we will call them Harry and Phil. Harry was Phil's younger brother and even though he was new to yugioh, Phil had wanted him to go to locals to truly show him what competitive yugioh to be like.
So, locals begin and Phil goes off to face his opponent while Harry ends up being my first round matchup. I didn't mind it, my deck is far from Tier 0 and I wanted his first experience to be a good learning experience. He ends up winning high roll and goes first. He just so happens to be using a generally spellcaster deck. I end up winning the first round since droll and ash ended up stopping anything he could really do. However, the second round is where this gets interesting. By interesting, I mean I actually felt kind of bad for what happened.
Game 2 begins and He goes first. He actually starts comboing off. Then something comes up. He plays a card that is obviously fake. It's got the weird waxy look to it, the brown shade is off, It's level markers looked like dragon balls, and last but not least, this level 4 spellcaster monster that was called like "Axe puppet" or something like that, had 17000 Attack points! I looked at the kid absolutely astonished and right when I did, his brother Phil walked up. I spoke to Phil and said, "So, who built this deck?"
Phil replied "I did a while back. It's cool isn't it?". I quickly shot back with, "Not if this is here. A 17000 attack point monster? This card is absolutely fake and anyone will notice." I picked the card up and showed it to him. It almost looked like dread filled him. Then he answered, "In all honesty I forgot this card was in here. Our mom had got what she thought were real cards off of Ebay but she got scammed and now we use them so that she doesn't know." It turns out that Harry had been using this card as the last part of his combo! To plan to OTK people with a fake card!
Anyways, we ended up explaining to Harry what was going on and we let him know he had to build another the deck. The kid did not take it well. He had a full on tantrum in the card shop and quickly he and Phil were told to leave as Harry would not calm down and it was hindering locals. After all this happened, I never saw them again. A new card shop had opened up in another town about 30 minutes away, I imagine that's where they ended up. Either way, I learned a lesson that day.
If you build a random deck in the past, give it a once over before you use it in the present. You have no idea what you can possibly find or what kind of lapses you could have made. Since then, I've seen only one other fake card be used at that specific card shop, but, that's a story for another day. I appreciate anyone who read this lol Thanks for your time.

    My fun story
    It was 2021
I played naturia vernusylph with some earth stun.
    Round 1
I played agents this swordsoul player. Here's the problem we had the same sleves. I said hey we have the same sleeve. He said yeah that's cool. And we began to play. When I play I make the game a grinde game (especially with naturia). It was my turn I began combing using agido I milled 5 cards to his gy milling nibiru. Continuing my plays he nibirued me. I let it resolve. After we calculated nibirus tokens atk. I saw that I had called by in my hand and I asked him can we go back to the nibiru play I had a response. Whiche he said yeah sure. He used nibiru I chained called by he was confused I showed him the nib that I milled of his gy with my agido. I won that round. Round 2
I went second and a little back and forth a new problem came.
It was his turn he draws. Looks at me and asked so what now . I asked what does he mean he reveals monster reborn. I said ok what about it. He says this isnt my card I don't play it ,this is your's. I was flabbergasted how did that happen. He asked sholde we call a judge. I said no give me back my card and since you went back with the nibiru you can add any card from your deck instead of the draw. And with the none once per turn of hornneedle and antjaw i won that duel. After thr duel we looked at bofh of our decks so that we didnt take a nother card. We checked and we didn't.

I remember my first local yugioh comp, I just started when xyz first came out and made a billy deck with the little cards I found in the stores cheap $1 cardboard storage trays and what a friend gave me. It was a agent/fairy deck.
My opponent (little did I know was tops in my state regionals) was the nicest of guys and knew I was new to the game proceed to roll the dice and go first.
He was running a dragon based deck and made blue eyes ultimate dragon (4500 beat stick) and vanity's ruler (no special summon for me) and passed turn.
I proceeded to draw and went into my main phase and said I special summon buten, a 200 attack monster in attack position.
My opponent then advised a politely as he could this was not a special summon but a normal summon and explained why.
I then said crap sorry can I summon a different monster in which he advised sorry once its summoned thats it.
I then set 4 cards face down and ended my turn.
My opponent then summoned a couple of more dragons monsters and proceed into the battle phase.
he attacked with blue eyes ultimate dragon in which I said ill activate
Lumenize which stops the attack and adds it onto buten until my next end phase.
He then set some back row and ended his turn.
I drew and went to battle phase and attacked ultimate dragon.
I said ill chain my ego boost (quick play spell that adds 1000 attack to a monster), he said ok so 1200 vs 5000
I said nah I'll add the 1000 to your 5 head.
He shook his head in amazement then though ahhh your trying to k!ll yourself ok.
I then said chain another ego boost, another 1000 added to blue eyes ultimate dragon.
    he laughed
I then said chain another ego boost,.
He again said to blue eyes?
    I said yup.
So he said that's 7700- to my 4500.
I then said damage step and he heart froze!
Honest (adds my opponents attack to my monster.)
So my buten went to 12,200 to his 4500 leaving him with 200 life points left.
He said OMG wtf at lease i'm still in this and I set a monster in defense and with no cards in hand ended.
He started his turn and summoned ultimate dragon again and jinzo and went to attack my buten which was only 200 attack points now and feeling confident with no potential honest.
which dropped me down to 3700.
He then attacked with jinzo into my set card.
I flipped it over and it was marshmallon ( once attacked and flipped up the opponent takes 1000 damage) ending the duel.
He was in shock and said well played my dude, you can go first.
At this point most of the other players had ended there duels and started spectated us.
Then asked what the scores where and where shocked that I took the first game.
We shuffled up and drew our cards.
I proceeded in the main phase and activated hecatrice ability to discard its self to add a Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen to hand
I then activated it allowing my to special summon a fairy type monster from hand in which I summon Archlord Krystia.
Which stop any monster from being summoned while on the field.
His face dropped and said gg my guy that was nuts I concede.
The spectators cheered as I stated collecting my cards and shaking his hand.
He then polity asked to see my deck and saw it was at max $50 compared to his seto kaiba screw the rules I have money deck.
    I congratulated me further.

Got a few stories that stick out from, gods, it must be over 15 years ago, at least for the first one.
Had my then girlfriend, now wife, over at my place, and we played a bunch of Yugioh that specific day as we had some free time.
As my GF was rather new to the game, I had given her an edge in the form of the card Final Countdown. Boy was that a mistake, as she had luck that would make any Yugioh protag envious.
Final Countdown was in her starting hand EVERY GAME.
Now, I knew that she didn't have the hand skills to shuffle her deck to get it on purpose, but even so, after the third game, I took it upon my self to shuffle her deck for the rest of the games we played that day, which she agreed to, and she STILL got Final Countdown in her starting hand every time.
    Crazy.
Fast forward a few years, to the Synchro era, and she had moved on from Final Countdown as she had gotten more skilled and wanted to try other kinds of decks. This time, I'm one turn from losing, we've both pretty much exhausted our resources. My Lifepoints were nearly gone, and she had about 6000 or so left, but also the only monster on the field. Ancient Sacred Wyvern. Basically her boss monster, which gained attack the more lifepoints she had than me, and at this point it could finish me off easily. My only hope was to top deck something, and I sorta did.
I drew Change of Heart. Played it instantly and took control of her Wyvern.
I'll never forget how her face went into pale shock when I did and declared a direct attack. She thought she was going to lose, but she forgot how Wyvern worked.
While it gains attack when it's owner's lifepoints are higher than their opponent's, it also loses attack when the points are lower, so in this case, Wyvern had 0 attack.
I knew this, but I didn't have any other plays, so I decided to be a bit of a troll and scare her before I lost. She wasn't super happy about it, but it's a fond memory to me.

Nothing wrong with proxies. Manufacturers hate them because they detract from new sales and cardboard traders absolutely despise them because they’re terrified of being humiliated and paying for counterfeits. If you ever do have a rare card never mail to anyone that isn’t a reputable grading agency. If you’re looking to sell only do so at conventions or LGS’ while you’re there in person because a lot of those places will confiscate anything they “believe” are counterfeit without a second opinion. If that happens call the police and have them sort it out for you

So, back in 2023 during the cyberstorm access preview event, i was paired against a labyrinth player while playing Branded Despia. Just got the new cards and was itching to try them out, even i didnt full know all of the combos just yet since they all JUST came out. So, i was taking my time a little to get used these new cards. Unfortunately, my opponent didnt take it too well.
Round 1 had me fully set up a full combo board with mirrorjade, sanctifire (with no puppet lock whatsoever since i handicapped myself purposely since it isn't needed to win) mercourier, and lots of backrow. I then proceeded to dismantle all of his trap cards on end phase and clean up house on turn 3.
A good amount of the time, i was trying to make conversation with my opponent. Its just something I usually do since i try to make friends this way, but he just rudely told me to keep going and looked visibly irritated after winning the first.
For round 2, he proceeds to set 5 and pass. I then start my turn, and play around a few of his traps. Eventually i had guiding quem on board and activated bf. He then chains terrors of the underoot targeting her and opening in my gy. By now, retribution was in my graveyard, so my thought was to chain retribution to make the effect fizzle, since i didnt understand how the card worked. So, i asked him the question, but he rudely replied with "im not going to tell you that. Its a tournament" even though it was mostly locals. So, under the assumption, i chained retribution. He then snarkly replied that the effect wouldnt fizzle, essentially making me waste a card due to lack of knowledge.
So, the turn proceeded, and he continued to talk down to me when mirrorjade banished his lady. Eventually, I lost since he barriered me on turn 4.
By round 3, the time was almost up. I still proceeded to do my combo like normal. My opponent was pressuring me to hurry up, and i apologized profusely, but he continued insulting me. By the time i finished and his turn started, time was up. I swear that it wasnt intentional. Its just how it happened. By now, he was breathing heavily and was about to explode. So, we agreed to do a dice roll to decide who won. So, in my head i said it was fine and would still be considered a win in my books, but i said it out loud and he aggressively told me that no one cares.
I then end up winning the dice roll. He then snaps and aggressively throws his cards in his bag, and tore into me. Telling me that if i would just shut the f*** up, then wouldve destroyed me and yelled at me for several minutes before angrily storming out.
Havent gone to a regional or anything like that since.
Please just remember that this is a game. Its just not worth getting so heated

I have a story, so I was using a RFP deck, and had all essential RFP DD monsters as my engines, I'd sacrifice them out for monarchs, and I had been using this deck for a while and people had gotten use to it. So I decided to change it up by adding 1 card in it, a card that no had expected, a card that at the time had only just had a legal shonen jump card made of it, a card that literally gave you a God hand, I'm talking about Obelisk the Tormentor, and with a RFP deck, he did indeed torment people. So I'd use my monarchs with DD cards to sacrifice for Obelisk, and then build back up my field, then I'd get my DD cards back. One person tried didn't like this, and tried to claim that God cards aren't allowed due to them being promo cards and referred to his original promo cards that came out with the video game. He calls over a judge and makes a big scene calling me a cheat, the judge turns around and says "this is legal, it was released in the recent shonen jump, ans as it's legit he can play it", the guy goes red, knowing his deck and no one else's was able to target or combat against a a literal God card at the time. He starts shaking his head while mumbeling under his breath, collects his cards, pushes the table into me, and walks out of the store cursing out at the judges saying how they're cheaters for allowing cheats, and he never came back to that store while I was playing there.

Oh boy, I do have a good story. I was playing a tournament on a time between 2017 and 2018, back then one of my matches was against a Greydle player, but problem was that it was Sunday and I had to go to the church, so I just grabbed all the cards on my side of the field and rushed to not get late, abandoning the tournament. When I got home I checked out my cards and found a strange purple sleeve among them, I payed a closer look and found out it was Gameciel, then I realized that on my rush I stole my opponent's card by accident, and to make matters worse he was from outside the city and I never got his name. Since then I made an oath to never sell or trade that card until I find the original owner and give it back to him, though I admit to have used it a lot on my playthrough for not having anything better to use on my side deck. If someone know a guy from Brazil who lost it's Gameciel on a purple sleeve on a tournament in Porto Alegre please contact me back.

Maybe you'd like this story 😅. I was probably about 11 years old and it was my third attempt at a local tournament. This was back when straight 4 star beat down with jinzo was a viable deck. My first attempt was utter disappointment as I was eager to enter the tournament with my pegasus starter deck. Fortunately my opponent was an older gentleman (prolly mid 40s) and was very patient while beating me 2-0. My second attempt was with an exodia deck using exodia my mother bought me as a birthday gift... They were fake but I tried to use them anyways... Ever run an exodia deck without exodia? My peak though came with my third attempt, I was running my best down everything was going smoothy. My best down deck seemed unstoppable, the heart of the cards was truly on my side.. (we won't mention how my opponent in the 3rd round neglected to charge me 800 life points for premature burial and me beating him with 600 to spare 😬) it was the finals, me a 11 or 12 year old kid vs this 20 year old while a judge watches. My opponent unleashes the full fury of his dark magician of chaos, slashing away at my spear dragons my Gemini twins even my beloved jinzo was falling prey to them. I was down 0-1 things were looking bleak but I was able to brute force him with in a few turns of the second duel thanks to a well timed harpes feathersuster. The pressure was on. The final duel began with punches being thrown by each side. I found myself staring at an unbeatle force of 3 magicians 2 in attack mode one in defence just to insure no cheeky mirror force. It's my turn, I draw... SWORDS OF REVEALING LIGHT! My 1600 life points would see another turn. He draws and passes his turn. I draw again, monster reborn... Hmm this doesn't help me, I set a monster in face down defence and end my turn... He draws, the confidence on his face is appalling. His victory is imminent, or so he thought. I draw my last card before the inevitable onslaught of sorcery would barrage my life points, RAIGEKI!!! now my hand consisted of raigeki, monster reborn and some other unimportant cards. I throw the hailmary! I play raigeki and my opponents face drops, I cautiously look as he begins checking his 3 face down cards. He has no counter play! A mear set back he thinks, I play monster reborn, but not on the jinzo that's in my graveyard, that wouldn't be enough to eviscerate his 3200 life points, no I target HIS dark magician of chaos. To say that, that man's soul left his body would be an understatement. I remember the judge laughing and saying, "you're going to let this kid beat you with your own cards?" The tables had turned, I now had 2 DMoC in attack mode and one in defence. I unleashed a barrage of magic vanquishing any hopes of his victory to the shadow realm and walked away with my $60 store credit.

Actually i got a quick an fun one,not something from a Tournament or something. But in one of my local Stores, where you could play YGO. I had my Opponent look at my Deck,he even shuffled it very well. Just for me to draw 4 pieces of Exodia, and the 5th when it was my Turn. Bro started CRYING,and insulting me. He called me a Cheater, even tho he shuffled my Deck, and like 7 other Ppl stood there and watched. Except for drawing my Cards,i didnt touch my Deck after HE shuffled it either,so no way for me to cheat. He got banned for life-time,which wasnt long...Store closed a few Months after that, but damn it was crazy

So, I want to tell the tale of my newbie run in my 3rd event in our community and how I got struck with hard realization:
It's my 3rd time using my Drytron deck in a big casual tournament and it was epic, since it was an all newbies tournament I felt calm cuz there's no meta decks or what. I made it to the top 8 and things were going well, I was 1st and managed to put on my usual board with Vanity's Ruler on the board and I passed, my opponent then Kaiju'd the Ruler, yes, KAIJU'D the Ruler but why? Well in our GC me and my friend had a similar situation and apparently some of the members said you can Kaiju Ruler, even the judge agreed since he also saw it, and in the end I got 0-2'd yet a good run. And 2 months after that we all realized the mistake and me and my opponent were chill with 1 another. Moral of the lesson? Don't agree in rulings without further proof.
    The End

I was at locals, it was 2022 if i remember correctly, I was bringing drytron cause i was stuck on that deck, i loved and still love playing it
Now at my local there is this guy "famous" in the store for being stuck in 2015/16 and relentlessly bringing Burning Abyss since those years, literally no one has ever seen him bringing a different deck, so it became a meme but at the same time a symbol of prestige for him, like being the BA god or something like that
So, i get paired against him, we sit and go for the dice roll, which i win. I remember it like it was yesterday i swear, i look at my hand and it was BONKERS: Fafnir, zeta, prep, DK no more (didn't have the money for droplet) and gamma. That hand could've played aroung 3 hts, except...
"activate fafnir to search, is that ok?"
    "yeh sure"
    "add nova, res?"
    "I'd like to activate droll"
Now... fuck, everyone that played drytron knows how that card is literally a pass, so i was there "mh yeh, mhmh i'm fucked, that's it"
"Happens i guess, activate nova, ok?"
    "yeh"
"summon alpha, summon linkuriboh, alpha tribute zeta, fine?"
    "yeh"
Now, honestly i was doing it cause i thought "bro, you are playing against BA, it's impossible to get otked right? I'll surely have a turn 3, just try to put some monster in def and wish"
I pass on linkuriboh, alpha and fafnir and a DK set to bait or make him panic idk i was desperate
    "draw stanby main?"
    "yeh sure"
"normal graff, effect farfa to special?"
"thinking... yeh on farfa special i'd like to activate fafnir effect?"
"it has an effect on my turn???"
"yeh if you special a monster i can reduce it's level by 1 for every 1000 atk he has, but i can activate it only if i control a drytron"
"oh ok, fine i guess" *tries to summon cherubini*
"wait bro, doesn't it require 2 level 3s?"
Now i don't know why that made me laugh so much, maybe it was the natural way he said it, or the expression he had, I swear i don't know, but he said
"meh, at least i tried, lets go to the next game"
...I was shocked, first cause... wtf just happened, like, I won by activating fafnir secret effect, did that really happen?
Secondly, WTF JUST HAPPENED like, why he said that like it was the most normal thing in the world i don't know, and neither i know why that situation had me crying from laughing too much but I will always remember this duel
Thanks if you took your time to read it and sorry if there are some grammatical or spelling errors but english is not my primary language
Wish a good day to yall

I remember in 2018 when i went back to locals for the first time in 8 years, my opponent was also a returning player but hadnt kept up with the game. I was baffled and new to the shop so i let him play his 60 card heart of the underdog exodia deck with MR3 pend zones. I think i was playing lightsworn, which wasn't good at all in the era of skystriker trickstar, u links, and firewall loops, but it was easily enough to 2-0 him.

I have a story. It happened at the Wichita Anime Festival many years ago. There were several Yugioh players attending in the hopes of playing a tournament. Unfortunately, the usual judge was unable to attend that year. Instead one of the players stepped up to host his won tournament after buying some prizes from the sale floor. There were 2 catches to this... he was allowed to play in his own tourny and everyone could use up to 5 OCG cards. Things were going fine for me at first... until I had to play against him. I was playing a Caius Banish deck and he was playing E-Heroes, which sounds ok until you realize this... he and his friend were the only ones using OCG cards. That was bad enough, but it gets worse. Two of the cards he used were the not yet released Elemental Hero fusions Absolute Zero and Great Tornado. It gets worse yet. I found out much later that he made up what the cards' effects are. He summoned Absolute Zero and said it destroys all my monsters on summon and then he summoned Great Tornado saying it destroys all my Spell/Trap cards on summon. He won his own tournament in full cheater mode and everyone else was none the wiser since no one had a way to look up the cards at the time... I never played a tournament there again.

Usually my brother and I only face off against one another, as we don't know anyone who plays or has a whole deck to use. Anyway, he never gets the idea of deck building is to have a personal touch to it, initially something you believe will get you a win. He refuses to make the deck himself, so he let's me build it for him. Keep in mind for years I've beaten him, not because I built his deck, it's more so because once I'm done with his, I rebuild my own to counter his. I know it sounds like a bit of a douche move, but the older brother got to teach the little brother a lesson one way or another right? Recently we both gotten the box of Yugioh that contains Yugi, Kaiba, and Joey's original decks with some added cards to them. He asked me to build his, and so I grabbed his old deck and the 3 decks, and proceeded to make the deck. As Yugis deck has Exodia, all 5 pieces, and some spells and traps that go with it, I put them in there. Unknowingly, it would lead to a defeat later. The day of after building our decks, we face off like usual. I didn't put exodia in mine since I knew I'd rather have my usual combos going, we have combination decks that work really well together surprisingly. My current deck holds Crystal Beasts, Chemicritters, Blue Eyes, Archfiend Dragon, Utopia, Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, and with a Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. The number cards aren't really legitimate cards from boxes, but I needed them since I don't play in tournaments anyway, I'm not that competitive. First draw it went well for him, but for me, I had some cards that didn't pair well together so I had a Chemicritter Oxy Ox face down for protection for awhile till I got something good, with a Burnout placed down, and a Supervise in hand. The round goes back and forth as normal, we both manage to Summon some powerful monsters one after another, but we hold back in mercy since I know what he has, technically, and he knows nothing of what I had. He Flips a card over, and apparently, it was fairly busted when he read it afterwards, but it left me speechless what happened shortly after. It was one of the Exodia continuous trap cards that read, You can target 1 Monster on the field; send 1 "Forbidden One" Monster or "Exodia" card from your hand or deck to the graveyard, and if you do, return thatt target to the hand. Now that's only the first segment, which would come into play shortly, the rest of the card basically explains if it was sent to the graveyard from the field it brings back a Forbidden one or Exodia card to your hand from the graveyard. I didn't think nothing of it until he activates the effect only once, and used it only once. He had already had 4 out of 5 pieces of Exodia in his hand, and did not do anything else with it for the remainder of the round, till he got closer to being attacked. He managed to win the duel by Exodia, with this single card while in his last few hundred life points. I was shocked as well as upset I didn't think he would have a handful of the pieces from the start. I was so confused as to why he didn't play that many cards until it was too late. He beat me fairly, and has now gotten a win under his belt against me, as he usually lost because he wouldn't be able to pull good cards off top deck, he usually can't draw monsters but this time he put up somewhat of a decent fight. He then said after the fact he won, "That combo is too overpowering, can you get rid of it?" Like dude, you one, you don't need to remove it after one win. In which he replies, "I know, but it didn't seem fair to you that I have Exodia and you don't." To be fair he kinda needed the ego boost as well as a confidence boost from our battles anyway. Hope the story alone is enough to make people think that no matter how many times you lose in something, "you can always pick yourself back up and try again and again. Practice makes progress. Nothing is ever perfect." Thanks for listening.

Back in 2019 I was a fairly regular player at my local game shop, and generally there were two types of players that attended the tournaments.
The first were your typical whales who were running the same meta decks of the time period, which were sky strikers, thunder dragons, ect.
On the other hand there were also casual players who brought their favourite themed decks, mostly anime decks or more less used archetypes like toons and ghostrick just to name two.
For the rest of the context of the story you have to know how the tournament was structured. The matches were determined randomly through a computer, and there was a thing called the winners table where the top four duelists would be situated.
Due to the system deciding brackets, the meta and casual players were mixed in with each other, and this is how one of the wildest nights I have ever seen occurred...
This made us casual players feel inadequate and demotivated to win... that was until one specific night.
One night, the tournament was proceeding as normal, except in this night, the winners table would be completely dominated by a single casual duelist running the most og and yet unbalanced, most likely to brick deck he could have possibly ever run.
There were players running thunder dragons and there were sky striker decks among others that were built heavily with the usual expensive negates and hand traps.
The night starts as usual and us players unlucky enough to be put up against the meta decks quickly fell and found ourselves waiting for the next match ( at our locals the players typically tried to beat their opponents as quickly as they could as a house rule ) when we noticed a casual player still in the middle of a game against a thunder dragon deck.
In some miracle of fate the thunder dragon deck bricked hard, and as a meme the casual player decided this was his time to shine, and put a single kuriboh down on the field, and proceeded to beat down the meta slave to achieve a 2/0 win streak due to the enemy bricking two round in a row...
Every time the TD player went to do anything the Kuriboh player was quick to shut it down, which ultimately locked them out of the game making it an easy win.
Us casual players could not believe it, a meta deck costing hundred of dollars had just overwhelmingly lost to a 10 cent kuriboh you could buy in bulk...
However, the player did not stop there. It was as if everything fell into its correct place that night, because in the next game with a sky striker player, his opponent would yet again brick, and after a few turns of drawing would draw all five pieces of exodia...
The sky striker player deciding to lay down a heavy board this time decided to go first to try and set up a board state... however when the kuriboh/exodia player drew there hand he started laughing...
    "There is no way"...
Hearing those words gis opponent knew what just happened, but it was too late...
Laying the five pieces down on the table he went on to win that game as well...
Seeing this remarkable feat, it lit a fire in the rest of us guys...
Surely if he could do it with that deck, we could also do it too...
And so after this display, the rest of us went all out...
And by tge end of the night, the top four players sitting at that winners table were all casual players...
Ever since that night, only the casual players still attend that tournament, and the meta players very rarely attend...
In our eyes that man is a legend who brought the fun back into the game, and has created a positive space for any deck to be welcomed...
We just have one rule " Don't piss him off, because if we do he will obliterate us "...
And although I haven't been back to the tournament in a while, I hear he still attends with the same deck, pulling off crazy feats every now and then...
Damn what a monster he is
