I like that even while you’re talking about what held these players back but still show positive highlights. Makes the videos not one sided. Salute to you bro because you could easily show nothing but bloopers on all these players if you wanted. 🤙🏽
it’s the scouts that mess these players up. and these aau coaches feeding these guys egos instead of being real with them. you have to work harder and hard
i don't even remember this man being at iowa state but that year at syracuse was fun. Him and andy rautins together was a nice combo. lol people don't want to see that 2-3 zone in march. can't prep for it in a couple days
I think his problem was that he came into the league at a age where they couldn't reprogram his bad habits.. He could've been a really good 3 and D guy gad he just focused on shooting the rock.
He reminds me a lot of Corey Brewer or vice versa..he had a very good year at cuse, striked when the iron was hot then went to minny terrible fit. Ball handing was no1. For me. Good one SG
Spot on evaluation. What you say about him is EXACTLY what I saw when he was at ISU. In particular, despite being played at the two his second year (ridiculous), he never took time to develop his handles or his shot, never mind his lack of vision. He was better off as the undersized four he played as a freshman, but the concept of the stretch four was relatively new in 2008 and few college coaches were going out of their way to develop them. Greg McDermott, Johnson's coach at ISU, had the excuse later on at Creighton that Doug McDermott was his son to pay him special attention, and by the time he graduated he fit right into the space-and-pace NBA.
If you do a video on any of these gentlemen, it will turn into watch parties at the barber shops, followed be zoom conference calls to discuss what should have been.
If he went to a system where all he had to do was run and jump with a good point guard he could have been a poor man’s Shawn Marion. And speaking of Syracuse forwards that don’t pan out, let’s see a stunted growth on Billy Owens.
Marion could ball though. He has an ugly shot but that thing goes in , He especially came through in Big moments. Usually cleaning up off the glass but he still made his plays and was A Legit All Star. Shawn Marion was Dope. The Matrix.
Another guy I remember who didn't succeed well in the NBA was Hakim Warrick. The most lengthy player I've ever seen in Syracuse basketball history and had a good career in college, but flamed out in the NBA. I hope you can you can do a video on Hakim Warrick in the future. 🏀
This episode got me thinking. What about a “Stunted Growth” college team style? Like Syracuse players after Melo left. Georgetown Players after Ewing, Mourning, Mutombo and Iverson. Ones where big name schools having players who talent hasn’t transitioned into the league like they use to or since their last star player.
LarryHughes has to be a stunted growth candidate .Hughes was like a passing sg ,whom was one of the smoothest ball handling shooting guards that couldn't shoot out side of midrange most of his career eventho he showed flashes from beyond 3 occasionally.
As a die hard Cuse fan, I was hyped and convinced Wesley Johnson was going to destroy the league..but, per usual, the Syracuse system is a stunted growth in itself
Can you do a segment on Chandler Hutchinson. Why he misses so many games. Is it a mental thing Why he cant stick with one team is a immaturity thing Why his is play is hot and cold. One game he can score 23+ and the next not even play.
Pretty much Timberwolves is the Kings or the Knicks(before this year) who don't get trash by the media for being garbage even their good players get view as worthless stat players because KAT and K Love couldn't win games giving you 25 and 10.
I thought when he signed with the lakers he was going to ball out boy was I wrong. He had no handles with the ball shot was spotty. He made it to the nba tho
he was nice in syracuse not even going to lie. but that moment he got dropped by harden was the nail in the coffin for him.
Agreed
I am still more awed by his double inbound fail against the spurs
@@obilinx me too
@@hunterallan3186 righttttttt

Evan Turner gotta be next fo sho!
Oh goodness not Evan Turner lmao

Agree with that
@@beastmode40205 damn😂
@@beastmode40205 yeah he was definitely a product of Ohio State’s system
I really liked this kid. He balled out at Syracuse back in '10. Thought he'd be a star in the league.

AAU basketball is some of the worse basketball ever

"Syracuse is known for long athletic wings that don't often pan out" lol no chill 😂
Hakeem Warrick
MCW
Lawrence moten
CARMELO ANTHONY
John Wallace
Facts. Syracuse been producing a lot of underwhelming NBA talent for a long time.
Johnny Flynn was nice at Syracuse trash in nba
i don't even remember this man being at iowa state but that year at syracuse was fun. Him and andy rautins together was a nice combo. lol people don't want to see that 2-3 zone in march. can't prep for it in a couple days
To me Syracuse has an overrated history, not alot of their players became the stars they were expected to be...except the obvious ones
Like Carmelo Anthony
Lol he talking about Billy Owens
They've been sliding under the radar at producing sub-par NBA talent for a long time. Shine a light on em bro.
@@TheBackOfTheClassroom He need shine a light on the Timberwolves cuz he stay killing the Knicks they're just as terrible
I was gonna say someone about that outside of Melo the guys that play for Cuse dont pan out in the NBA
i remember 2k11 and wesley johnson and derrick favors were called two headed dragons.
He was so nice on the combine in 2k11
I retired it for a few weeks but I’m bringing it back. Beginning the “we need a Pervis Ellison” video. Either him or Danny Manning

Danny Manning definitely

Damon Bailey, Steve Alford, Calbert Chaney, Shawn Bradley, Danny Ferry, Jordan Farmar and Toby Bailey.

Wesley Johnson was good in college. But if he wasn't drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves he would be a solid nba player.
Exactly why I laugh at ppl who say Timberwolves messed up not drafting Curry. He was not turning that terrible franchise around
@@354allday he did for the warriors they were terrible

That was a great laugh I had there. Wow! Wes Johnson of the bounce pass. Just. Wow...
Seriously you need to be an NBA scout. That was an excellent breakdown.
I liked him tbh...he could have been a Paul George. Or kawhi type...player
Funny scouts didn't value PG-13 or Kawhi like Johnson. Even with Johnson going 4th and PG-13 going 10th in the same draft.
@@andrebryant5081 and the even crazier part is..they all played for the clippers...

Leon Powe. His knees were bad in HS. If they weren't he would been a beast in the NBA
Lol the Harden drop was the icing
How about doing teams? Such as Team USAs Run Jump and Dunk squads of 2004 and 2006.

If his growth is stunted how do you feel about Marvin Williams from UNC. Duke and Syracuse have a lot of busts but so does UNC
As a UNC fan....I must agree....lol.
Tbh I don’t understand how you look at his college states and say to your nba team “Let’s take that guy in the lottery”
You should just do a whole Syracuse series
Start a small forwards theme and do Rudy Gay next...I feel like he never hit that next level he was capable of.
