It was crucial for Beasley to a team where he would be the focal point of the franchise. By definition he’s a bust.
He's a bust but early in his career he's good. Distractions threw him off his game and that's what makes it even harder for me to say that he's not a bust. Greg Oden was a bust even though everybody knew he was injured a lot and probably became a hall of famer if he didn't get all those injuries back in his early days.
Yea attitude and work ethic have a role in how your nba career turns out but getting drafted to a team that fits you and your style also greatly determines your career. I think if he went to a bad team like kd he would've been better
KD statement is so ironic when he talked about how he was always in the gym and beasley was chilling because it came natural to him, because that might very well have been the thing that separated them. Hard work beats talent when talent dont work hard
I think it was pretty much summed up by Durant's quote at the start. For Beasley the game came easily when they were young while KD had to grind it out in the gym. KD wanted the game to come as easily to him as it did to Beasley and the only way he knew how to do that was to put in the work at the gym. Obviously it translated like that into his future career into basketball. Unfortunately for Beasley he might probably felt like it was going to be as easy as it had been for him and never adopted KD same mindset.
The difference between the 2 can be summed up in one word: DISCIPLINE Sure Beasley wasn't drafted into the right situation, but if he kept working hard then eventually would get his chance. Case and point The late great Kobe Bean Bryant, early on Kobe wasn't given a chance, but eventually he got his opportunity.
This is a partial case of “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” by KD’s own admission. Obviously things are wayyyyy different now, but back then...shocked that he didn’t have that same confidence
@@colewrld901 a lot of players who smoke weed succeed it's not about the weed it's about his attitude his willingness if he got a motivation he'll definitely be a good player even tho he's an injury prone

I never seen 2 guys play the Game so effortlessly it was amazing to see when they both came out , I feel the quote KD said but it is really unfortunate for Beasley because it just shows You can have all the talent world!!! But it’s about hard work & Focusing to be greater , hopefully Beasley can get another shot .
Beasley was also only around 6'8 in basketball shoes, instead of the 6'10 he was supposed to be coming out of college. And he was the worst kind of tweener, couldn't guard 3s and too weak to guard 4s, let alone 5s. Still remember the Boston - Heat playoffs series where he was downright unplayable because he couldn't guard Pierce, KG, or even Shaqtin legend Perkins...
Beasley was always the #1 option, then he got drafted by Miami Heat, and now he had to adjust to be the #2 guy. That’s tough for a guy who was always the focus of the offense.
Regardless of your opinion on Durant as a player, if you think he's the best pure scorer of his generation, if he you think he's a snake etc there's no doubt in my mind he's a good guy at heart. Still humble even with all that talent and accolades, he's still a genuine person.

Personally, I feel like it’s all about heart. Some of these players have all the potential but lack hunger and heart to be better and win. That’s the difference. KD was always focused and hungry to keep improving while Beasley just didn’t care enough.
Beasley would have benefited immensely from opponents having to respect his 3pt shot. His career stats hint that he could have been solid in this aspect. Quite different in this regard than Durant. I guess he thought smoking and goofing around off the court was more important. Also, tends to be more difficult for players with a mid range game to be a top player nowadays. A few make it work. But, its not par for the league.
Anybody who wasn't outside when Beasley was in high school and college has no idea how good Beasley was. He was like Zion level stardom his freshman year in KSU and would of been the consensus first pick in most drafts had another prodigy in Rose not been in the same class and there was still conversation about who should of been first him or Rose.

I remember him briefly on my bucks. Talented scorer you could somewhat rely upon to lead the 2nd unit. Like Jabari, he had moves Giannis just doesn't have. I remember seeing video of KD dropping his bag of weed whilst sitting in his car. Both enjoy blazing up. It's just one had more control.
Beasley has a naturally-born talent. It's probably the reason why he doesn't work as hard as anyone anymore going into the NBA. He became an uncontrollable drug addict and nothing much can be done about that. Even if the Heat gives him more playing time, he'll still inflict these damages on himself and he will end up in the same situation as he is right now. The Heat would've been the ideal place for him to outgrow his potential since their experience and player development programs are top-notch so it's a shame he hasn't taken advantage of it before Bron and Bosh went to the Heat.

Like just because of the last Durant quote. Just that puts things in perspective. Most of his troubles came (according to your video) from marijuana issues. It should have been legal then, at least it is now.
Qualis Williams teams didn’t like him because he had talent but he didn’t help his teams win games with his lazy carefree attitude. Not the attitude of a winning man. So why would any nba team want a loser?

if beasley was drafted by a rebuilding team where he was the cornerstone like kd, he'd be good. beasley trying to fit in as a role player ruined his confidence and sent him down a mental spiral
Beasley is not a bust. He’s just another what if. He def didn’t become that bc of skill but bc of things off court and Injuries and not getting time to grow his first two seasons. Nobody you ask will say that Beasley isn’t one of the best at the game of basketball. He just didn’t get to do too much with it.
I try to remind people how good Beasley is. It's not about rather he was talented or not, it was because he never had the motor/mindset to become a star like KD did. But let me watch this video.
Minutes and management is a huge thing in players not booming into all stars but yet when they aren’t doing what people expect they just aren’t talented? Doesn’t make sense.
Beas can still be on an NBA roster to this day, man is a walking bucket. Not sure what happened to his spot on the Nets when he tested positive for covid before going into the bubble. Would be interesting to see what playing alongside KD could do for his focus.

Yea attitude and work ethic have a role in how your nba career turns out but getting drafted to a team that fits you and your style also greatly determines your career. I think if he went to a bad team like kd he would've been better
Very insightful! He indeed didn’t got the clout he was thinking he’d get & it worked negative on his character 😒 he had a lot of potential.
I remember a comment from a beasley highlight video it said "1 million dollar talent 1 dollar brain"
The difference between the 2 can be summed up in one word: DISCIPLINE
Sure Beasley wasn't drafted into the right situation, but if he kept working hard then eventually would get his chance.
I remember reading on Slam that Rose, Beasley and Mayo could be the most talented top3 picks of all time, damn time flies
Beasley waisted all his potential 🤦🏾♂️
Yep smoked it all away
Wasted*
@@colewrld901 a lot of players who smoke weed succeed it's not about the weed it's about his attitude his willingness if he got a motivation he'll definitely be a good player even tho he's an injury prone
Miami is a place where distractions are everywhere. Beaches, Bitches, Blunts, Parties everywhere, having that millionaire status he really got complacent and look what it did to his potential, down the drain.
And you wasted that spelling
Really tho Michael Beasley had so much potential , as a #2 pick in 2008 , I mean he had so much high hopes ..
At least he wasn’t a full bust, multiple good seasons and then the 19 and 5 season. Better career than most.
I think one puts in more practice into his game, while the other still put in some work, but mostly relied upon his gifted ability from the get go.
Wow i just wrote Andy hoops and didn't expect a video has been upload 57 seconds ago lmao

Beasley was always the #1 option, then he got drafted by Miami Heat, and now he had to adjust to be the #2 guy. That’s tough for a guy who was always the focus of the offense.
6:27 “year after year, we see many young players bust” yoooo??
Nearly spat out my water when I heard that 💀💀
Ayooooooo 😂😂😂😂
Was looking for this comment lol 😂 I was thinking PAUSE‼️
Regardless of your opinion on Durant as a player, if you think he's the best pure scorer of his generation, if he you think he's a snake etc there's no doubt in my mind he's a good guy at heart. Still humble even with all that talent and accolades, he's still a genuine person.
Durant became one of the most efficient and consistent shooters. Beasley is the opposite.
What Changed? Beasley could not stay off the WEEEEEED DAAAAA
KD smokes like a rasta, the difference is that KD had quite a mamba mentality , while beasley just wanted to have fun n enjoy hte $$
@@EddieHammerhead You could look at beasley and see he is a pot head. he has that same look J.R. Smith and other pot heads have. that drowzy sleep walking not alert look.
It seems like if he would've made better decisions he could've been high as hell and still productive in the league. Im sure plenty of nba players smoke but still keep their careers afloat.
@@NewEarthSon what is wrong with smoking weed? Oh I know!

When you bring a console to a friends place, that’s how you know you got a really good friend
Crazy how leagues used to prefer their players get addicted to pills rather than just let them smoke 😂
KD smoked teams, Beasley smoked weed.
Kd smokes weed bruh your not lookin lol
@@gabeortizz7006 I think Kd has a funny personality where he looks high all the time
@@migueldiaz9876 he’s good to kids any clip or be seen he got a big cheese smile for the kids
So idc about no damn reports even if it’s in their job requirements lol if the kids are happy I’m happy
Kd g
Just go ball Ima knick but I want everyone have a turn to be happy
Including all of humanity
That last quote by KD is real AF
Think that i....am looked at the mirror... in the other field of life.
At the end of the day,,, i found that there were FAITH....
And NO REGRET, just thankful for colorful life, with ups and downs, i saw it as a beautiful picture on my journey.
Best wishes for all the youngsters!
Best whises to all of you.
It's just one had more control.
am i the only one that laughed when andy said “year after year we see young players bust”?🤣
Gay
Waited all week for another Andy Hoops video 🙏
It's crazy to remember: Kobe Bryant was not considered better than Nick Van Exel or Eddie Jones in his first two seasons
Anyone with the Beasley last name is a menace
Beasley has a naturally-born talent. It's probably the reason why he doesn't work as hard as anyone anymore going into the NBA. He became an uncontrollable drug addict and nothing much can be done about that. Even if the Heat gives him more playing time, he'll still inflict these damages on himself and he will end up in the same situation as he is right now. The Heat would've been the ideal place for him to outgrow his potential since their experience and player development programs are top-notch so it's a shame he hasn't taken advantage of it before Bron and Bosh went to the Heat.
Loosely remember this quote: “You can never reach your potential addicted to a drug”
Lil Wayne begs to differ

Love the content bro, keep me entertained, & answers my Lowkey what if basketball questions.
Back in the day there's even a debate if the Bulls will pick Rose or Beasley as the number 1 pick. He's way too good in college but the Bulls pick Rose because he's the hometown hero.
He's Killin it on YT basketball tip tho. He's still a beast too. "We tha ones!" U see that game? Bro is illy wit it. Very KD esque.
Excellent video, Andy. Thx.
Kobe got put in a winning team that was a contender as well but look how he turned out, all about that mamba mentality man
Durant's quote is right tho. At least Beasley can say he made to the league and maybe that's enough for him
Love ur videos man. Pls do more and dont stop
Like just because of the last Durant quote. Just that puts things in perspective.
Most of his troubles came (according to your video) from marijuana issues. It should have been legal then, at least it is now.
Beasly is OG in my 2K14 MyCareer tho😂
Beasley is a freaking beast, walking bucket, it was an honor watching him on my bucks for a year, too bad it was just a year
We need videos every other day Andy pls ❗️❗️
“Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.”
That sums up Michael Beasley.
Naw in beasley case the talent never left he was always a walking bucket teams just didn't like his personality
Qualis Williams teams didn’t like him because he had talent but he didn’t help his teams win games with his lazy carefree attitude. Not the attitude of a winning man. So why would any nba team want a loser?
Being the number one guy your whole life and then having to ride the bench because you’re playing on a veteran team is not an easy transition for anyone.
KD is legit. Nice words backing up your homie.
Physical prowess is one thing. Motivation and IQ is another.
if beasley was drafted by a rebuilding team where he was the cornerstone like kd, he'd be good. beasley trying to fit in as a role player ruined his confidence and sent him down a mental spiral
My favourite player in NBA Live 2008, Michael Beasley, my favourite player's favourite player.
