I was playing in a Christian rock band called "Word For Word" in about 1995. We went to Gospel Music Week in Nashville. We were actually hoping to talk to some record labels. The guitarist and I met Larry outside a bar, where a punk band was playing one of his songs. We explained why we were there and Larry said the most important thing was to make sure we were doing our music for the right reason, to tell others about Jesus. The guitarist (also named Larry) has since passed away (probably jamming with Larry as we speak) , but I have never forgotten meeting Larry and the advice he gave us. We didn't get a record deal, but many came forward and accepted Christ at our altar calls. The keyboard player went on to become a pastor and I am still writing Christian music and sharing it on my UA-cam channel called "The Crossroad Cafe". I am very thankful for Larry and his music. I can't wait to jam with Larry and some of my other friends that have passed on when I get to heaven! As Phil Keaggy said, what a day that will be!

Altar calls at Christian concerts? I didn't know Christian bands still did that. I wished they would. That was a big deal in the 80s---bands like Petra, Res, etc would make those a regular thing. They would have things so organized and a staff like BGEA

@@impalaman9707 It was 1995 when we were doing that. I am not sure how often it's done now. My guess is, not often. I think it should be done. Or at least announce from the stage that if anyone was interested in becoming a Christian the band or others would be available after the concert. It really could be a life changing event, as you know. Good times. It felt like we were doing the most important thing in the world. And we really were!

I still listen to & love Larry Norman tunes. “He’s an unidentified flying object (Yashuah) coming back to take us home.” The Lord gifted this child of God and we are blessed to hear what he had to say & sing.

Leah Tillock, thank you!!! Ive been dying to hear something good like this for so long. Larry Norman forever changed my life with his music and message about Jesus. There is no one like him. I thank God i heard his albums and even got to see him live once. His albums still make me cry with gratitude for the unique way he pointed to Jesus. I look forward to seeing him in heaven. God bless you Leah, for all the time and effort you put into making this video, the friends who knew him, the music clips, the message you left at the end, and the quotes at the finish…..as well as the link to the proof of Larrys innocence to the accusations made after his death. What a horrible thing for a Christian to do to another Christian! Thank you for your time and love with which this video was done despite the fact that you are sick yourself! Love and prayers for you ❤️🙏❤️

Wow! Thank you so much for the detailed thank you! I deeply, deeply, appreciate it. I feel this is something Larry wanted from Heaven and God gave it to him. A real reward for me is I got to know Larry's hand picked friends and back up band. We for the most part are still in contact with each other, he picked kind friends. Follow me on Facebook if you're on there.

Leah, do you think the book WHY SHOULD THE DEVIL HAVE ALL THE GOOD MUSIC by Gregory Thornbury is a true look at Larry’s life , or one to be avoided for untruths about Larry?

I'm 61. I literally cried, sobbed, listening again to Larry's albums recently. As a teenager, I'd listened to Larry's albums hundreds of times. Anointed, indeed!

When I was 17 in 1968, I saw Larry perform with the band” the People” in San Jose, California I moved to Washington state in 1972, and became a Christian. I had all his albums. Yes he was a blessing indeed!

Thank you for producing and posting this. I needed to hear these stories. I had been discouraged with Larry when I saw clips of people saying bad things about him. He and Keith Green were very influential in my "infant" Christian years. ( the early Nineties)

Thank you so much for posting this. Impossible to say how much Larry inspired me when I was new to the faith- genuine and uniquely gifted as a Christian and a musician. After he passed, it was confusing and took awhile to find balanced views on Larry's life and times. This is so welcome. God knows Larry's heart, and now Larry is at home with Him.

I knew Larry through his wife Pam and was invited to their wedding in the Twin Cities. Knowing Larry had come up with the One Way His Way logo with the finger pointing upward, I had my sister who was an artist do an oil painting of the hand pointing upward through a lake of fire. I heard they liked it so much that they hung it over their bed. Rest in peace, Larry!

Thanks for sharing! If you have a pic of that painting your sister did, it would be great if you shared it on social media. You can find me under my name on Facebook, I'd really love to see a pic of your sisters painting.

I gave him and Herbie Manaputy (who was part of Larry's back up band) an autographed pic of my friend Mark Farner from Grand Funk for Christmas. Now a New Year is upon us, Happy New Year!!!
