“Our relationship is everything about this band,” conceded Rebecca Lovell to PG in 2022. “The way that we communicate, the way that we play together, the way that we facilitate one another’s musicianship. It is the air that we breathe as a band, and everything revolves around our siblinghood.”
Their symbiotic sorcery has taken them from budding bluegrass pickers in the Lovell Sisters (then alongside older sister Jessica Lovell) to real-deal rockstars as Larkin Poe with several No. 1 albums on the Billboard blues chart. Since 2010, when the sisters regrouped as an electric duo, they’ve released six studio albums, five EPs, and one live set. Each musical installment from the twosome continues to bring fresh songwriting and sonic influences, further intensifying and enlivening their core chicken-fried, boot-stompin’, roots-rockin’ sound.
On the penultimate day of their first touring leg in support of 2022’s Blood Harmony, the sensational Larkin Poe sisters, Megan and Rebecca Lovell, welcomed PG’s Chris Kies onstage at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl to talk tone. Megan shows off her brand-new Beard signature Electro-Liege lap steel and a 1950s Rickenbacker B6, featuring some ingenious engineering that inspired the Liege’s unique silhouette. Rebecca explains how she fell for the HSS Stratocaster and why she’s finally ready to be in a committed relationship with fuzz. Plus, we find out who’s taking who’s gear when it comes to the Lovell sisters and their significant others.

I saw them at a club in Hollywood California, pre-pandemic, and they were so rockin!
I knew they’d be great, but I discovered a swagger and a confidence and an energy that I hadn’t felt in their recordings and between songs the audience of all ages erupted.
It was honestly one of the top 10 live shows I’ve seen and as a live music fan in my 60s that’s quite a claim. Please support these girls, you won’t be disappointed! 🎸🙌🏻🥰

Please share with them : an EHX hum deBugger pedal will kill that 60 cycle hum without cutting sustain like a noise gate does... It's a filter not a gate. Only downside special 7volt AC power supply. Electroharmonics solved this problem! Good for both rigs, great for slide where you gotta maintain sustain....

I think I would have used anything but the Strat bridge pup on that opening jam in conjunction with the steel stuff. With that said, Larkin Poe is hella cool.

EHX hum debugger pedal. Be sure to only use their included 7 volt AC power supply. It's annoying to need that ac but the thing really works!

So side note Rebecca is married to Tyler Bryant...His band is called Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown...Brad Whitford from Aerosmith son plays in his band...Definitely check him out

Larkin Poe. Can’t help but think of the movie con air and wonder if that’s where they got their name from! Special agent Larkin and Cameron Poe. Love this music though!
Sorry George1002, their name comes from their 5th great grandfather, Larkin Haskew Poe, who is a distant cousin of Edgar Allen Poe. The sisters wanted a name for their band that had a family connection.
What’s going on with the audio in this… some weird phasing going on with voice mics…. Otherwise awesome video! Seen LP a couple of times in the UK, in small venues, they were amazing!

How the hell does the DROP tuning thing works? Anyone has an idea or even a link? Please.
I've looked everywhere and haven't found anything that explains it.
I got a few guitars and I simply love the standard tuning. Yet, I've got into a band that goes hardcore/metal whatever and thy're in DROP B. Fuck, I had to waste two guitars on that tuning.
I know about the DROP from DIGITECH (which could force me to go from std to DROP D and get it 1 1/2 down for the band). But, I've heard that nowadays there's shit that works perfectly well enough for a live performance. I came across the L6 HX FX, but I still manage to get how it works. I'm not into buying to just to figure out :-), obviously.

They use to be a more "folk-oriented" duo, some of the best stuff from Larkin Poe can be found in the old EP's (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall), or some TV appearances like "My home" at Southern Living that you can watch here on youtube (one of the best lap-steel solo there, and the mandolin solo is amazing too).
Progressively they transitioned into the more conventional rock-blues act that you can see now. I really miss the old Larkin Poe, there was some great song writing there and an undeniable freshness to them, but I'm happy that they are having some success and exposure now.
Now I'm going to watch the version of "Long hard fall" at Union Music Store where Rebecca is barefoot and and it's just a blast of happiness and smiles.
And before that bluegrass with the Lovell Sisters.
