Mmmm, not really a balanced comparison - weighted too much in favour of vinyl. Ok, the hardie plank may take longer to install but I think it is more robust. You did not mention fire protection - viny v hardie plank ? Also, hardie plank can be painted so if you fancy a change of colour a few years later you can do this - not so with vinyl. And another one, I have seen vinyl installed and it does move and bend especially in climates where there can be high variances in temperature. Vinyl can look awful after time whereas hardie plank is more stable.
How biased can you get? Vinyl never needs replaced? RIIIGHT! Ever seen vinyl siding afer a hailstorm? The color of vinyl also fades over time. Wood or cement siding can be painted or color changed as the homeowner wishes. Lets see you do that with vinyl!

Why not include Steel? Hardie won't Burn or Melt.
