One can almost tell the successful person is the one that is organized and puts a little thought in what works best for them. A minute of time to organize the tools is worthwhile and saves time in the long run.
I have been an ag lender and crop insurance agent for close to 50 years. This is a great shop, more functional than some of the super fancy shops. Lenders joke about two things: the fancier the pickup, the less money the farmer has and the fancier the shop the less work actually gets done in the shop. Great shop tour.
I could listen to your dad all day long!! He’s definitely a guy you could sit down with and have many and I mean many beers with and never get sick of his story’s! This shop is organized and I love it.
Your dad is so organized and inspiring!! He is right about being organized is the key to success. Spending half your time looking for tools or using the wrong one because you can't find the correct one will wear you down quickly.
Did the right thing. Set my shop the same way. Place for everything, everything in it's place. I swear your dad is my dobbleganger. Organized, still fined was to improve.
That's one nice shop your dad no matter what the job or project is very well thought out before hand and makes a world of difference when getting things done awsome he would be a cool guy to meet someday
Yes, I agree, tools and parts need to be organized or you're wasting your time looking for what you need!! I bought a roll away and top box for tools and that really helped a bunch! I had labeled cans of nails on the floor and nuts and bolts labeled on the wall. Also had a box of wiper blades new and used that were labeled and got into that often. I did electrical work on the side and had jars of electrical screws and bolts that I got into quite often. Chain saw stuff and extra chains for 4 different saws. My stuff was not as organized as your Dad's stuff but I knew where to start looking. But those days are all gone because of a forest fire and the wife and I are in an apartment in a senior living place and I don't have many tools to organize at all and no place to keep much stuff. Sure miss all the stuff I used to have but life marches on and I can watch UA-cam videos of what I used to do! I really enjoy that! Thanks for taking us along on you video.
Yeah, good video on viewing tools and equipment. The best thing about that shop is the heating system. I like that heat coming from that insulated concrete floor. That to me is the best thing! Good job Dad, you did a good job!
Great video once again thank you. My word you have invested a lot of time and money into organising your workshop. As you say time spent looking for something is time wasted and returning everything to its place in the evening is key. Keep up the great work and more videos please
I am inspired to see what a quonset shop could look like. We just moved to an 11 acre property that has a 40x80 quonset on it and my dream is to have it be a shop like yours someday. Thanks for the tour.
I really and truly enjoyed this video. Your level of organization and thought you put into this shop is extraordinary. I learned a lot from you and will use some of the ideas I saw. This is what I think is great about those of us who put up videos on UA-cam - we can make other people's lives a little easier. Thank you!
Thank you for the variety of content you put up. I recently left another farm channel due to the repetition of the content. If I can learn at least one new technique each video, I'm happy. Keep it up!
Awesome...I was a car and lt, truck tech. for 30+ years of my life. There is nothing more important than orginazation and neatness. to help speed the job along.
Guys, without a doubt, one of the best organized and staged shops I've seen. This is a functional shop. Reminds me a little of Matt Griggs shop in Tennessee. He would be the first to say that the way you maintain the organization of the shop is great. Clearly you also take care of your tools. One of the best and useful habits you're teaching your children is taking care of what you've been blessed with.
After watching this video, I have been sluffing off with my organizing. My organizing skill for my garage is, keeping the door closed, out of sight out of mind. :)
Love this video. We store a lot of our smaller parts for each machine in old 5 gal buckets on shelves that are all labeled. Hardly any old parts gets thrown away like you say bc so many times I can get part numbers from them quickly when they fail again 11:45 on a Saturday afternoon just before dealer closes & temporary reuse them. I just found you & really really enjoy your videos
At 61 one thing I've noticed through the years is all your "stuff" doesn't have to be A1, but if you keep things clean, organized and efficient you can be pretty happy with it all . . . and profitable. You guys have also found that right balance between using manual labor and using modern technology. Yeah its nice to just push a button, but all that goes with pushing that button can run up to a pile of money that will get you in the red in a hurry.
Your Dad loves the camera, lol. I'm surprised you don't have a machine shop on the farm. I think you'd find a lathe and milling machine to be useful additions to what you got going on there.
@@GierokFarms Yeah, plasma cutters are handy. If you do eventually take the plunge on the lathe, etc., keep in mind you’ll most likely need three phase power. Easy enough to make your own if the power company won’t supply it.
These shop videos are great! I do have a question; what do you have on your four wheeler? I do rotational grazing and would love ideas on how to setup my four wheeler for carrying portable fence posts, water supplies and other fencing tools. If you could cover that, it would be very helpful?
The most well kept, functional, organized farm I’ve ever seen!
Thank you!

Proper planning prevents piss poor performance. All your videos are great, thanks for making them.
Thank you nice comments like yours motivate us to keep making them!
You make tractor supply and most hardware stores look bad. Thanks for all the great ideas for all of us that have a shop.
I could listen to your dad all day long!! He’s definitely a guy you could sit down with and have many and I mean many beers with and never get sick of his story’s! This shop is organized and I love it.
Hose reels are the ____! 3/8 or 1/2 rubber hose is cheaper than black pipe. Your Dad is one smart man.
thanks
It's always nice to have the extra parts even if it's a used part !!!
Great tour ,you know someone’s organised when they subconsciously turn a misplaced spanner round at 3:35👌
Lol!
Very well done. Your dad is right it is so frustrating when you can't find tools.
Thanks Mike!

Thanks for the shop tour. Your Dad really put a lot of thought into the layout of it.

It would be great if you did a video of all your equipment on the farm. I think it’s always interesting to see what everyone uses for machinery.
Stay tuned for next saturdays video I think you will like it!
Always put my tools back as they are expensive!!! Great tool lay out in shop. John T.
Thank you John!

Fantastic and well organized space. I wish that I had the space and organization that he has.
Very organized
Keep your rags away from oil 🔥
Awesome shop.
Great, no nonsense, shop review. I think pops has been in the business quite some time. Keep them videos coming!😁

Nice shop and nicely organized.
thank you!
Excellent shop video great tool and parts layout .
Thank you!
You should consider having week long working “vacations” for folks interested in gaining some of your knowledge.
After watching this video, I have been sluffing off with my organizing. My organizing skill for my garage is, keeping the door closed, out of sight out of mind. :)
Lol
I have the same Menards tool box. It's been a decent box. There's some good ideas you have there.
Thanks glad you like them!
I want to see work being done, but that is a nicely organized shop.

Great video, lot of good advice wove into this one!
Thank you!
Such a well done video. I really respect the way you and your family operate the farm.

The bench grinder mounted to the opposite side of your main shop vise might be a good idea to consider.
Thanks

We have twin to you shop cat ! Lovable bugger she is.
Lol
You guys do a great job. Just found your channel, really enjoying the content.
Jealous of that shop lol. Very well thought out. The wood working display is awesome. To have a shop like that for my wood shop and welding ect...👍
Thanks again!
helluva shop!
thanks
I don't mind working in a landfill as long as what your working on is kept nice, that is what really gains you time.
Staying up on your equipment can save a lot of time in season!
This is nice , a nice resourceful farm with lots of good ideas for the common man , unlike the ultra rich ones in the farm magazines.
A lot of common sense comes from your dad. Just plain wisdom
Thank you !
Nice set up
thank you Keith!

Nice vid thanks for makin

AWESOME SETUP!!
Presumably, as well thought out your shop is, you have back up generators for power outages?
Inspirational!!!
Very nice! Did you clean up to make the video or is the shop always that clean?
It is normally that clean! Thanks again for watching!
My dad was a mechanistic and had his shop layer out Ike your dad.
I too kind stuff just in case I might need it !

That is an awesome workshop! Did you go to college?
Every shop should have a big dog laying around.
An old refrigerator works well to put things in
How many acres do you run
300
all this on 30 someod cows?
Nothing worse than I can't find it !
Thank you!
Yep, that’s why I keep too much junk, because something *could* be of use some day.
For sure!
