i have the v3 in tobbacco burst. it is really good and actually even the thin neck is still thicker than a lot of other guitars

I was not comparing an upgraded epiphone versus a gibson studio, but i would also be hard pressed to hear the difference between an epiphone 1960 model and a Les Paul studio, especially considering how shoddy gibsons quality control with the studio models are nowadays. But if i were on a budget, i'd much rather save up my money longer, and buy a second hand 90's LP Classic, or similar. 89-03 was a really good period for gibson guitars.

Stop putting words into my mouth, i did not say that. Yes, it has all these things, but its the sum of all the small things that is interesting. How the long neck tenon is built, quality in the wood (How resonant it is), how good the guitar plays, the type of fret, fret height, tuner type, bridge, lightweight tailpiece vs. a heavy one and so on. No matter how much you improve on a guitar thats built with cheaper woods, you won't make it as good as one with the more expensive wood.

@brainboob I do not have big hands, hahaha. Thicker necks have some sort of weird vibe to them, but they're more comfortable to me. It doesn't force me to roll my wrist as much. It's mostly just preference.

Just to let you know guys Gibson use plastic inlay on the fretboard no MOP, very high quality lol.

I love mine too! I had a Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus and had to sell it years back. Needless to say...I don't miss it anymore.

Hey, im giging a lot lately and im using a 2010 epiphone les paul standard. And i feel like i need something better that will give me the performance i ask for at my gigs. This seems to be good though. Any opinions?

@fabianwolswijk I wouldn't go for the Gibson, due to quality issues they have been having. If you can, go for a Japanese clone. Tokai, Burny, Fernandes, Greco, Orville, Epiphone Japan, etc...

Chappers, I'd give almost anything if I could play a guitar like that. You are without a doubt one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. That is as long as you don't play Metal around me. I HATE metal. If you like Metal thats fine. That is your priveledge . Just don't bring it on my side of the fence.

+Florida Gator Fan No you didn't. The 1960 50th anniversary is available in 3 colors - Heritage Cherry (v1 only), Cherry Sunburst (v3 only) and Dark Burst (v3 only). The guitar you bought is not one of this model.
+Michael Corrieri They make a les Paul tribute plus just like this one. I have a midnight ebony
+Granville Friel Actually they don't make a tribute plus just like this one; that's my point exactly! The tribute plus is a COMPLETELY different model of Epiphone Les Paul.
The tribute plus has a different neck carve, a 12" fretboard radius vs the 14" of this one, 57 classic pickups vs the burstbuckers, sealed locking grovers vs the vintage style tulips tuning keys, different electronics (caps and push pull pots), different case (black standard vs brown lifton), no COA, and no Limited/Custom shop logo on the back. Great guitar btw, but completely different than the 1960 50th anniversary limited edition V3 or V1. The neck carve and fretboard radius are substantial differences in playability alone, let alone the pickups, electronics, and tuners.
Epiphone makes lots of tribute plus guitar - an unlimited number - the 1960 50th anniversary was limited to a total of 1,960 units worldwide.
Great guitar you have despite the numerous differences so nevertheless, congratulations!

Have the tribute plus , which has 60's Gibson pickups , Grover locking tuners , switchcraft & a solid Maple cap . Have the same fender hot rod deluxe & it's a great combo. The tribute plus plays better than the cheaper gibbons & just as tight as the $2000 ones. Paid $659 & came with a case. I sat at the store for hrs & played for hrs. That's how I made my choices. Also have a stat with fat 50's. but the tribute plus is the $hit for the cash. Just dumb to pay $2000 to SAY u have a Gibson !!!!

Anything made in North America is automatically better then almost anything built in another country. And if given the choice between playing epiphone and nothing. I'd rather play bass ;)

I had a Gibson Les Paul Studio '50s Tribute 2016 Traditional and a Epiphone Les Paul plus top pro and prefered the Epiphone, sent back the Gibson... the Epiphone played as well, sounded just as good in a different way , different pups, but not worse IMO..and was beautifully made.. one thing I didnt like about the Gibson, which surprised me was that the frets were narrower and very tall compared to the Epi.. love the Epi and I got a killer flame top on it in honey burst. The Pro Bucker pups sound awesome.
