Rob had a very sad life...his parents put him up for adoption, and he was adopted by a German family in Munich but it seems like he was never accepted. He had a bad childhood, people were mean to him because of the color of his skin. He ran away from home as a teen and lived in poverty till his early 20s...that's why he and Fab were so eager to take Farian's deal in the first place, it was offering them a way out of being homeless and poor. They had a few good years, and then sadly, this scandal broke. Rob was a very sensitive and gentle person, and it just hurt him too much and he couldn't deal with it anymore...so tragic.

Yes! There are cultural differences between the U.S. and Europe that really show this. These two looooved women, but their mutual love for each other is undeniable. They played the gender-bending game sometimes, which I supposed confused some people, but it's done all the time for marketing reasons. It had zero to do with their sexuality. These were MEN. Incredible-looking men. Masculine men. So secure in who they are that they don't mind putting on make-up, and they look great in it!
Side note...Fab here is PRIME! I think in this show he's surpassed Robert! What a face! And that body! Geeezus. They were apples and oranges, though. There was no competition between them. Rob was unusual because of his mixed race, but Fab was perfect! If people took their eyes off of Rob for a second, they would have noticed, LOL.

i was around when they came out, and as a matter of fact, was one of the few who would admit that i spent my own money buying tickets. imagine my shock on the day of the concert in jacksonville, fl, when the security guards told me the concert was cancelled. i didnt care that they were fake, i just wanted to see their beautiful faces. it is now 2011 and i still feel the same. too bad america didnt feel the same

The actual singers were identified (Brad Howell and John Davis). Yet, they didn't get the pub; Milli Vanilli fans didn't gravitate to them. The Real Milli Vanilli had modest success in Germany but pretty much went no further than that and faded away.

@ehouston Clive Davis and Arista Records actually did more to cause the Milli Vanilli scandal than Frank Farian because they really polished them to make them become more accessible to American audiences and really make them even bigger there and all over the world. They gave them songs that were more accessible to American audiences, including their hit single "Blame It On The Rain", and they were the ones who made "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You" an international hit single.

I've watched countless hours of these two but I just noticed something. Rob always took the lead in talking because Fab was introverted and Rob was extroverted. But whenever Fab says something, the slightest thing, Rob just stops talking. Fab could have said a whole lot more because Rob would have let him, he just opts not to. That's some classy shit right here. Rob wouldn't interrupt in their press conference, either. They are both incredibly polite and well-mannered. Americans really are a bunch of clods compared to these guys, and most of Europe... What a gift they were. Damn.
