I know this is a song about a man or woman losing his or her spouse, but I can’t help but to think of my daughter, my only daughter, who passed unexpectedly in 2019. I miss you and love you Jessica Leann.
Linda, Dolly, & Emmy Lou are paramount here. But a special thanks to Mark back then for initiating a new huge viewing audience to the sound of Blue Grass fiddle.
This is sensational. These harmonies can only be created by these three voices and are out of this world. The melodies they create are just mind boggling and far beyond what other musicians create.
Every singer and musician up there is an icon in their respective instruments, including voice. What a collaboration. David Lindley, Russ Kunkel, Mark O'Connor, Leland Sklar, and of course, Dolly, Linda and Emmylou.
This just shows what great vocalists Linda, Dolly & Emmy are. Behind the ladies are the cream of bluegrass music - Mark O'Connor, David Lindley and Lee Sklar among others. Trio was so beautifully recorded, it's still a treat to listen to all these years later. (2018) Thanks ladies!
I absolutely love this! From Dolly’s wailing to Emmylou and Linda’s perfect harmony, just utter astonishment. And the band! This was before my time, but take me back!
this song is perfection- a driving rhythm, wailing fiddle, and wonderful lyrics ,,,,,,,, Dolly's voice in this range is so haunting and plaintive,,,, Linda and Emmylou provide heavenly harmony, and the instrumentalists are skilled beyond belief.
I was in the jazz mecca last night at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Marsalis, Faddis, Roberts, Batiste and the amazing lineup...that was just incredible! Now, we just pulled into our Nashville hotel to stay for just a few days, and you know I feel a little country comin' on. I got my seven CMA awards - a record for a fiddler in the history here. (it has been almost 10 years since I have spent some time in Nashville) But I have Those Memories of You! When this was a number one record, I think I was on the majority of songs broadcast on the CMA Awards that year - 1987! 'Those Memories of You' Dolly Parton/Linda Ronstadt/Emmylou Harris feat. Mark O' Connor Solo
Mark, I saw you for the first time in circa 1979 at the Mountaineer Opry house when you were touring with Jim and Jessie. This was before they made Dreadnought guitars with a cutaway so you bent your arm and wrist over the body of the guitar to get up to the 15th fret and beyond. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing.
Congratulations. That's major cool. My youngest son turned down a job playing drums for a new up coming country singer a year ago. Makes no sense to me. To be exact he's practicing right now.
Mark O'Connor you're great especially with those long fingers of yours that can touch the back of your hand that's amazing...I read you were a teen prodigy on the fiddle
Thirty years after the cut of this recording and it brings chills to me. Three classic ladies from different music traditions give us this precious memory. And Vassar's fiddle just adds to this musical bliss. Virginia Boy will "love this to the day I die"
I remember watching this on the Johnny Carson Show when it aired. Talk shows usually gave musical acts two songs in those days (nowadays, they only get one), but Johnny gave the Trio THREE songs, so each one got to sing lead (in addition to this, they also sang “To Know Him is to Love Him” and “Hobo’s Meditation”).
Mainly a grunge, heavy metal, etc. listener here, but I have always loved this song and how these three awesome ladies sing it..it still gives me chills every time I listen to it. :) And just love that fiddle!
Bonnie McMillan did you like Dolly Linda and Emmylou's outfits????!!!...I hope my mother will get me a dress like Linda's I already have the boots...the boots are Justin Boots black with rhinestones wings and a cross on the front
Three beautiful haunting voices supported by some of the greatest musicians around and this is why I love Country and music because it sings my heart and takes my soul on a musical journey
This is a great performance of these three super star singers. And to put the icing on it all is the performance on the fiddle by Mark O'Connor. He is the best on this instrument of any I've ever heard.
Me and my uncle always listen to this song when we went to his ex girlfriends house and when I went to work with him but he passed away last week Tuesday morning
Star-studded talent at its finest right there, they are a supergroup trio and is such an awesome sound. This is one of my favorite tunes ever, no one understands those ole haunting feelings better than l do and is heart-wrenching :(
The most beautiful voices and the most beautiful women on the planet singing this song you beutiuful women an your beautiful music help us through the krazy times up here in NBC Canada country and I always will love your beautiful music 🎵🎶🎼🎼🎶🎶 lady's an happy new year's to all of you beautiful ladies 💕💕💕
Collaborations are great to listen to. Along with Dolly, Emmylou, and Linda there is the classic Dolly, Tammy, Loretta- and KD Lang, Brenda Lee, Kitty Wells, and Loretta Lynn. There should be more of this.
This was my first introduction to your music and I've been hooked ever since. Plus, I love this song - the harmony, the music, the message, the beautiful voices of three fine singers.
Is it my imagination, or did the rest of the musicians cranks it up a couple of notches after Mark O'Connor's fiddle intro and break? Fiddle arrangement and execution is so haunting!!
OMG LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VERSION!! I have to come listen to all the time , it takes my mind to a smokey mountain with a woman singing in a cape blowing in the wind , but when that fiddle plays I feel pure heartbreak n sorrow this is absolute brilliance all the way around , thank you for sharing this now i will turn it up n close my eyes n listen with chills upon my body.
I know this is a song about a man or woman losing his or her spouse, but I can’t help but to think of my daughter, my only daughter, who passed unexpectedly in 2019. I miss you and love you Jessica Leann.
I lost my beloved Shannon Burns in 2019. The pain never goes away. Time does nothing to ease the pain.
I am deeply and sincerely sorry for your loss. I hope you find some peace.
Nobody plays a fiddle like Mark O’Connor, absolutely brilliant!
NO one.
Linda, Dolly, & Emmy Lou are paramount here. But a special thanks to Mark back then for initiating a new huge viewing audience to the sound of Blue Grass fiddle.
I remember this song, like it was yesterday. Our Dolly is, what can I say..... AMAZING. LOVE you Dolly

WOW Pure Talent, But today where has our country music gone
Left the country. Got replaced by plastic and spandex, fake accented, autotuned, homogenous something or other called "New Country".
It will never get any better than this.
Wait Jolene just say'n
The All Star game, Super Bowl and World Series wrapped in one!
Notice at 0:18 how all three singers turn to gaze at Mark O'Connor as soon as he starts to play....it is like an angel is playing.
Every singer and musician up there is an icon in their respective instruments, including voice. What a collaboration. David Lindley, Russ Kunkel, Mark O'Connor, Leland Sklar, and of course, Dolly, Linda and Emmylou.
Excellent Fiddle Work!! ❤
Well done ladies and gents. So fun to watch and listen to great skills and talents

Sung to perfection, and the backup artist are top notched! Pure country w/a haunting melody.American music at it's best!
Beautiful lyrics beautiful song beautiful voices gifted from beyond.
Love listening to this late at night and waking up early and it’s still in my head! It doesn’t get any better than this!

Yep - cream of the crop! Each one of those guys are monsters and well respected there own light!

Mark, greetings! A fan would like to as you to bring us up to date on what you've been up to?
And you're so humble too. What a great song written by Alan O'Bryant of the Nashville Bluegrass Band.
I have never heard three voices harmonize any sweeter or instruments played any better. Awesome song !
Thirty years after the cut of this recording and it brings chills to me. Three classic ladies from different music traditions give us this precious memory. And Vassar's fiddle just adds to this musical bliss. Virginia Boy will "love this to the day I die"
The fiddle player is Mark O’Connor, not Vassar (Clements).
Uh- Mark O'connor is fiddler.
Also...no offense to Vassar...but he ain't no Mark O'Connor....
@@markupton1417 …And Mark O'Connor ain't no Vassar Clements. Tony Rice would tell you that in a split second.
@@Guitarwizzard1833 Vassar wouldn't make a pimple on Mark's butt. Don't care what you or Rice say.
I used to lisyen to Mark O'Connor all the time. Good choice Sissy. Thank you. ❤

The inimitable Mark O'Connor on fiddle. The man is a legend in his own time.
WOW! All that talent on one stage. Singers and backup band. I am blessed for viewing them
perfect harmonies but then again look who it is.
I have lived this every damn day for almost 27 years.
God damn, I love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one of the most haunting melodies....... love these ladies and the song.
Bonnie McMillan did you like Dolly Linda and Emmylou's outfits????!!!...I hope my mother will get me a dress like Linda's I already have the boots...the boots are Justin Boots black with rhinestones wings and a cross on the front
The original vinyl version of the album had little Dolly, Emmy and Linda paper dolls on the inner sleeve, with cut-outs of these outfits.
Three beautiful haunting voices supported by some of the greatest musicians around and this is why I love Country and music because it sings my heart and takes my soul on a musical journey
The ladies were incredible. Added bonus of Mark O'Connor's greasy sleazy slippery fiddle playing.
I've always liked this group. Ever since my childhood which is how I got into country music like Alan Jackson.
Thanks for this Mark.
This is Dolly at her best - hair-raising hill music. And Emmylou and Linda make it timeless.
This is a great performance of these three super star singers. And to put the icing on it all is the performance on the fiddle by Mark O'Connor. He is the best on this instrument of any I've ever heard.
All these years I still think the same thing, how I wish I could have been a fly on the wall during these recordings
04/16/2021 Tennessee bluegrass at it's best. Love these girls and this song. Don
Still after all these years amazing
incomprehensibly beautiful.
Me and my uncle always listen to this song when we went to his ex girlfriends house and when I went to work with him but he passed away last week Tuesday morning

Perfection. Words fall short.
Wow!! That's an amazing performance!! Everyone was fantastic!
Their fiddle player is awesome.

Great tune. Dolly is a legitimate talent. Great backing band. O'Conner put on a clinic for fiddle back-up and lead.
Great song ..by some wonderful singers..love it:)
I love those old TV shows where such great music and honest conversation about the passion for music and life was shared ...
Man Fishell! that is my favorite part of this song...well the vocals too.

Dolly real shines on this one.
Mr Dave on mandolin.....Nice!
Mark O'Connor ... awesome
I think of Mark O'Connor as one of the Five Horsemen of the Viocallapse...along with Joe Venuti, Stephanie Grappelli, Stuff Smith, and Eddie South.
Viva por siempre estos hermosos temas viva for ever the rock country♥️♥️♥️
Love this song
Luv it
Yes these ladies know how to rock it sing great together
Used to sing this with my sisters
*Those Mammaries* by Dolly Parton
Is it my imagination, or did the rest of the musicians cranks it up a couple of notches after Mark O'Connor's fiddle intro and break? Fiddle arrangement and execution is so haunting!!
I think the guitar player on the left at the beginning is John Starling. He has a history with both Linda and Emmylou
I have PTSD. That song Fits me very well sometimes
How about that great fiddle!
Mark has no equal on fiddle I have seen players and then some but mark is dynamite .
Three Great Country Ladies! Woo Hoo! :D
Alan O'Bryant wrote that song in 1979. This is the best rendition by far.

OMG this is old---early 70's?
With 3 unparalleled voices, how do you decide who sings lead on a treasure like this? Well, seems like the choice is pretty clear.
I love you BG
Reminds me of my granny :(
Notice the yamaha acoustic guitar. I wonder if its a red label..

A hauntingly sad song, perfectly sung by three female powerhouses.
