legends, playing their most influential and progressive track, not the obvious hits
Incredible mood- cinematic
Absolute legends! The spiritual forefathers of art rock, arty punk and early 80s new wave. Viva Roxy!
As much as I dig Roxy Music, I'd have to go with The Velvet Underground as being the forefathers of art rock.
Steely_Fran A great choice! Roxy's art-rock shadow is long and large, in any event. Arguably the greatest BRITISH art rock band.
@@glennpagemusic Absolutely. I see that their music was introduced to a whole new audience recently, when this song was used in a Netflix series. Their music is timeless and they'll continue to influence generations of people. Cheers, Glenn✌️
Steely_Fran Cheers! Sorry to ask, but is there any chance you could throw me a sub? 😁 P.S. "Mother of Pearl", "Oh Yeah", "Casanova", "Just Another High" and "Remake/Remodel" are my favorite Roxy tunes.
@@glennpagemusic No problem. I'll be subbed by the time you read this.
Bryan Ferry is so sultry, stunning in his music, like no other!!!! He is all class!!!! 🌹🌹🌹🌹....
I always believed Ferry could have been a phenomenal actor. This is a superb version.
He has a proxy- Dirk Bogarde !
Ferry had a cameo role in the fourth episode of the French television miniseries Petit déjeuner compris, which first aired in 1980. In 2004, he starred in the short film The Porter, and in 2005 he appeared in Neil Jordan's film Breakfast on Pluto as the character Mr. Silky String ua-cam.com/video/kbgiKTeHN0w/v-deo.html
This describes exactly how I feel.
I’m empty and yet I have everything I could possibly want.
Nothing is ever enough
It's a song about a blow up sex doll...
Are you a Zen master?
@@devingraves8044 it could also be interpreted as a song about the obsessive behavior that people develop if they stay lonely for long periods of time
Thats the hole all of us have that only Jesus can fill, because He Himself created the human heart and to quote augustine: "O God you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you"
Still chills one after all these years!!
When Phil M strolls casually across the stage at about a minute in, he wasn't just being cool. He'd had problems with his earpiece and the rest had started without him.
Great performance. I wonder what young people would make of this today. Great band and so influential. Them and Bowie redefined music in early 70s.
Us youngsters love it!!!!
@@carolinerowland826 We do!
I’m 26, I think it’s amazing. I thought it was much more recently written when I first heard it.
19 here, I think this song is incredible for the almost self aware lyrics, “is there a heaven? I’d like to think so...” and the music itself is next level. The metaphors used, word choice, lyricism, and overall idea is very well put together, truly genius in my opinion. I actually haven’t listened to any other Roxy songs other than this one, and this ones just perfect for me. Listened to this a lot when I visited California at 18. Turning 20 in a couple days so this is a song that must be listened to and thought of. So as a young person, i think its interesting, good, and rather unique and niche. Sadly most kids my age wouldnt really agree, they’re too caught up in following a crowd than to go their own path. Some still respect it, and theyll keep the music alive.
@@dongambino5308 I salute you my friend. You’ve got great taste!
Goddamn, an iconic song if I've ever heard one
Checkout the 70’s version when he’s so young. Has to be one of best Roxy songs if not best
And about bloody time . they should have had this award years back. absolute LEGENDS (bows) Hope they all live forever, we have lost so many great artists .
This song captivated and burrowed itself in my head. I will never forget it. MASTERPIECE
Can't believe I'm seeing them next Monday at MSG for their 50th Anniversary - and the first time since 2001! First time I saw them was in Boston for Country Life, then Radio City for Avalon. Greatest, most original band in history. Long live ROXY MUSIC!!!
In the top 10 of Rock bands of all time
Doesn't get any better then this.
1 OF THE TOP 5 BANDS OF ALL TIME. simple.
who are the other 4
No one could pull off a song like this but Roxy Music play on my brothers!
Absolute legend, enough said.
Legendary Gods of the music world. Loved them since I was 14 yrs old. 50 years a fan!! Seen them in concert in the early days of the 70s at Hammersmith Odeon and more recently in Birmingham! Saw Bryan solo at Hampton Court ten years ago! Each time - brilliant!!
This song blew my mind.
I blew up your body , then you blew my mind. 🎶
Am I jealous about the doll??? Yes!
Ooooo the chills
You can see this one song feeds his musical soul , early perfection .
manzanera has such a unique style
El Magnifico!! He is totally underrated!!
Absolutely! You would never think about him when you're making a list of the best guitarists ever. But he is so underrated.
I LOVE MANZANERA. Check out 801 live if you haven't it's simply over ythe top!
@@laurentfranco8075 WHAT... I would never forget his amazing solo's & the 801 live intro to Relax your mind & float down stream...short term memory sudden loss on the name but i'm sure you know the Beatles cover from Revolver :-D
@@dimethaltryptamine1 Tomorrow Never Knows (identified as "TNK" on the album jacket, if memory serves).
Lyrics:
In every dream home a heartache
And every step I take
Takes me further from heaven
Is there a heaven?
I'd like to think so
Standards of living
They're rising daily
But home oh sweet home
It's only a saying
From bell push to faucet
In smart town apartment
The cottage is pretty
The main house a palace
Penthouse perfection
But what goes on
What to do there
Better pray there
Open plan living
Bungalow ranch style
All of it's comforts
Seem so essential
I bought you mail order
My plain wrapper baby
Your skin is like vinyl
The perfect companion
You float my new pool
De luxe and delightful
Inflatable doll
My role is to serve you
Disposable darling
Can't throw you away now
Immortal and life size
My breath is inside you
I'll dress you up daily
And keep you till death sighs
Inflatable doll
Lover ungrateful
I blew up your body
But you blew my mind
Oh those heartaches
Dreamhome heartaches
Did this in a garage band, ever so long ago, just to see if anyone was listening...
the boys. great. Bought everything first time around and they still sound great.
Greatest song ever
saw them in 1974 at the rainbow London they were amazing then but they get better this was unbelivable
The late great Rainbow is now a Lidl . Progress apparently.
So so cool! Such an iconic group that is almost futuristic with music made 50 years ago!
I love his wonderful voice 🔥
This song embodies the definition of ephemeral
I'd listen to RM in the AM before going to HS .. Got me in a very relaxed head space...
Perfect song for that occasion... :D
Un año entero escuchando esta canción 😂 que decir... me encanta❤️
Debes escuchar más ,Roxy music y Bryan ferry como solista tiene música excelente 😱
Great to see Jobson and Mazanera there.
Wouldn't be "Roxy" without them... Viva Roxy! 💖
manzanera looks incredible aged very well
Andy Mackay is there as well. a founding father
Andy MacKay
@@666marquis no kidding he has been there before them all. The. very start

מוזיקה מושקעת, נפלאה , רגישה ,מיסתורית .❤❤
Always outsanding !
best version
GLORIOUS
It may not be the best song in the world, but it is the best song by Roxy Music. 🙏
Definitely NOT!
A song about falling in love with a blow-up doll.."I blew up your body--but you blew my mind" Genius
great massive drumming....! I like it!
Love this band ❤
This song was SO before its time!!
"I blew up your body, but you blew my mind".
Great 80's Memories of Avalon Album!!!
musiciens intemporels musique sublime
Great choice !
EPIC
OVER AND OVER ......THIS IS US.
History, Roxy Music and Genius Ferry
Great!! Masterpiece
Bryan 🔝🔝 super 👏👏grazie per il video.
Great!
Me encanta❤️
God I love it😭🤘🏾🔥
Killerrrr!!! ❤❤❤❤
Ever once in a blue moon, the RRHOF gets it right- this was one of those times when all the planets and star aligned in a cosmic episode.
💜
Phil Manzanera rocks and so does Andy McKay. Brian Ferry is my style icon! LOVE ROXY!
Great 💪
Fields of the Nephilim did a haunting cover of this
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was there. Unforgettable night. Then saw Brian “solo” the next year. Pardon the syntax, but…Is there a cooler song ever?
Ooooh, I am jealous and very happy for you. And no, this is the coolest song because it's so unique.
Who would have thought a song about a blow up doll would be so cool......
Szuper. Imadom.
The Godfather of GQ.....🎤🎸🎹🔥👊
🤘
❤❤❤
Still the scary intensity of the song but without the dark shadow of the drug use of back in the day...
BTK Listenning this....
Is there a heaven? I would like to think so
Song always gave me Jim Morrison vibes but Morrison’s band never followed him into the dark. Closest to the dark they went were blues and it gave us L.A Woman. Regardless Bryan definitely laid the blueprints down
proceeds to completely forget about the existence of "The End" or "The Spy", just to name two songs out of all the dark stuff they made
That is one of the bullshittiest bullshit I read today. Ever heard "the end"?
The Doors could be plenty dark....."The End" is almost goth.
@@joe22589 the end is more greek and kamikaze than this. This is darker
@@naitirofanboy4813was I talking about the lyrics or the beat?
Fan -effing-tastic.
THE WAY HE SOUNDS EVEN BETTER THAN WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER WTF?
Wow, I think I live the this version better then the OG 🤩🎶🤘🏻.
An original
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
XL roxy
👍!!!
Listen to Phil Manzanera up & coming guitar hero's & WEEP!¬
🍻
I WILL fall over the balcony railing at the drop
I’ve never seen a worse crowd. I would’ve gone nuts if they played this.
It' Eno's song and it shows
I know it was too much to hope that Eno would play keyboards on this, but still.
Just one last time...
They’re starting a reunion tour and, sadly, no Eno.
What to do there ?
"Standards of living, they're rising daily" - Kinda dates it, eh!
This was my tribute video to Roxy on entering the Rock hall of fame.
ua-cam.com/video/dKnbIV9p0FQ/v-deo.html
Brian Ferry should have sung the heart ache part man! Just scream it Brian...would have been so much more heart man!
It was courageous (suicidal?) to play such a song in 2019. Il love it!
I don't get why people say I sound like this guy. I'm sure I don't.
The word legend is banded about too often when it doesn’t apply. It certainly applies to Brian Ferry, a true legend if ever there was one.
A great performance from Brian Ferry in this video but the version of
In Every Dream Home a Heartache by the original line of of Roxy Music in 1973 is beyond compare
ua-cam.com/video/G56DaSAeZfM/v-deo.html
Mindhunter sent me here
The first half is rather dull. The solo is what makes the song. Phil still played it perfectly on the “50th Anniversary Tour”.
Zoé se copió bastante de esta canción 😬
¿qué canción?
wonderful song. But isnt it a bit weird playing to people eating their tea?
Drummer is not too good.
No Eno. No Point. Hall Of Fame where the privileged are served at their tables? It's not Roxy Music, it's Ferry's wet dream.
