What is EMDR as an approach ?

I'm not an expert - but EMDR uses bottom-up and somatic aspects for sure - just bringing in bilateral movement and eye movements as well as these can help reprocess traumatic memories. I haven't tried it but it is meant to be effective. My only gripe would be that it doesn't teach the person HOW to process trauma and be more present with their emotions in daily life.
