That's true, it can make it very hard if you can't handle that stuff. I used to think it didn't bother me at all, but after several scenes it did start to take its toll on me a bit, so I had to learn to cope with the stress, because seeing people killed and other gruesome scenes was upsetting. I made my share of minor mistakes but always fessed up to my sergeant, found out he was in my corner and helped me learn from those mistakes. Never, and I mean NEVER lie to your sergeant.

Too distracted talking on the radio, while eating, and checking phone and laptop all at the same time. But in all seriousness, every year in driver’s training they harped on how easy it is to become a distracted driver in a police car. But, there are those who just can’t drive well

Thanks for commenting. The state exam has important constitutional aspects such as arrest, search, and seizure. And then the elements of criminal law. A person must pass the test in order to become eligible to be sworn. The issue can be the lack in quality in-service continuous training regarding the constitutional side of policing. Knowledge of the constitution and laws is just like other skills in law enforcement, perishable if not regularly utilized correctly or continuously trained. Per the Dept of Justice, back in 2018 or so, 15% of police nationwide were experiencing symptoms of PTSD. But recently within the last few years there has been a huge push to educate officers about brain health, and provide resources for dealing with stress and trauma exposure. It used to be to just deal with it.
From what I gathered, the Baker Act of a minor, in and of itself is not necessarily an automatic DQ however depends on case by case basis along with the many other aspects of the hiring process qualifications. Hope this helps. Probably won’t be able to get hired until 21 anyways, so that’s even more time to rectify record and build resume 👍
It can absolutely be fun. My best times were tracking with my police dog, searching for people. One time he found a man who ran away from his house after beating up his wife. He tried to hide in the creek like it shows in the movies and my dog still found him. Worth it.

Law Enforcement can be a very frustrating job at times, and that is when one has to remember the overall goal and mission. Since you are 11, my advice would be to make sure you surround yourself with good friends, because we become who we surround ourselves with. Hope that makes sense. Also, if you see a police officer out and about at an event and he/she is there to provide safety, then go up and ask questions about the job. Take care!
Can't engage. Afraid to fight. You will fight or you will get someone killed. No matter what a cop must be willing to fight and go to the aid of a fellow officer. Watch those stories on the internet about how bikers will go to the side of a fellow member no matter what. Cops need to be the same way. However, in the cop world it is not all for one and one for all any longer (if it ever was)_. You can say what you want but I feel very strongly about this. I am using the bikers as an example and it might piss off a few folks but it is the truth. We need that all for one and one for all attitude again. We need cops who will run to the aid of any brother or sister officer no matter what. I have been told by other officers that they were personally informed that certain folks will not cover them no matter what. True story. However, there are plenty of guys who consider themselves as God's give to LE. They will stab any cop in the back while breaking the law in the process. This happened to me. And this very same "blowhard" got a premier job as a detective because "he interviewed well" then he made sergeant and lied about a use of force and got busted. Should have been fired but,,,
Your first point reminds me of a recent video I saw of a person approaching an officer while holding a knife, and the backup officer essentially stands there. What helped the most from the Marines into law enforcement was the discipline to stay in shape throughout my career so that I looked presentable and would not gas out before the bad guy/gal.
