Tim, great review. Unfortunately for me there is not much I like about this system. The last thing I wanted in my truck is an “ipad/tablet”. Voice command is annoying to passengers. Especially if they are sleeping on a rad trip. Touch screen is a pian. Give me rotary dials for menu selection. Even the aviation industry that has converted to glass cockpits uses rotary dials for menu selection. This system is not a deal breaker for me but it’s close. And if you're in toyota mode changing a radio station is horrible the buttons are on screen and super tiny. I could go on!!!
One of the biggest reason for death and injury for car and accidents is DISTRACTED driving. The cellphone added to this distracted driving and texting. Will not playing with this screen just adds to the distracted driving. Cars and trucks need to have simple controls so the driver stays focused on the road. If you build it people will play with it and increased distracted driving will increase. The other negative that I have not heard mentioned much is Toyota switched from hydraulic steering to electric steering.with this new tundra. The feedback and feel from hydraulic steering helps the driver. All other truck Manufacturers use hydraulic.. Is Electric steering going to be better- JURY IS STILL OUT
Ford has been using electric steering in it's cars and crossovers since 2008, the Mustang in 2011, the F150 in 2015 and the Super Duty since 2020. Electric steering is just fine.

That was so laggy when he was pinching to zoom lol. Still a nice screen and camera resolution is decent finally too. Toyota is notably the worst infotainment in the whole care industry.

Just switch it to Android!
Nothing against the channel guy. But this was 17 minutes of a whole lot of nothing! This guy is obsessed with the "hey toyota" function. It's slow and laggy! Gimmick!.. If I want to go to maps, I'll press it very quickly with my finger. Bam, maps! This guy aka Toyota really thinks people are going go take the annoying 15 second method of switching to maps by asking the crappy assistant instead of pressing the button? Gimmick, gimmick, gimmick. The maps at the beginning of the video was incredibly laggy. No, no, no! 1080P screen with a piss poor processor. "Hey Toyota I'm cold"!?? Wow.... The best part about that screen is when it gets hacked so it can play movies and what not.
I will be checking out the competition before I consider buying a Tunda. Not impressed Toyota. The new Silverado/GMC looks like a much nicer system with better user interface but I will have to try the software to see.
why is no climate control in the screen?
What trim can you get the 14inch on ?
Limited and above.
The truck is beautiful. ...but now way I'm paying for navigation. This expensive truck is going to bill you for navigation now. Absolutely ridiculous.
I can see my profile page being locked down to single user options.
Screen is too high on dash, needs to be adjustable:
up/down & swivel left/right.
The more I watch videos about 2022 Tundra the less I want to buy one.
I can already tell the voice thing is a mess
Let me guess, you own a 2nd gen Tundra.
100% agree and I own a 2004 Tacoma this things a huge letdown I've been waiting so long to buy this 😂 The pro is the only decent looking model and it's hybrid only 🤦
Not very impressive.
This radio sucks ass, I freaking hate it. There's one tiny button is super hard to use. It basically mandates you to use Android auto or Apple car play. If you don't you can't use all the features. And if you're in toyota mode changing a radio station is horrible the buttons are on screen and super tiny. I could go on!!!
Can you watch movies on it when you’re parked?
Not without a third party plug in device.
Feels super intrusive
Whoever was over this infotainment and software should be fired. I just bought a 2023 Tundra and I literally want to sell the truck over this nonsense. It’s horrible. Fire them all that worked or approved this system
It’s sticking out, up over the dash like a sore thumb. Looks like an after-thought mounted device rather than an embedded one. It would take me a while to get use to it sticking up!..the 8 in version is sleek and looks better to me.
@@shayjohnson5830 lol
There is no way it is $16/mo better. Most people would do better by dumping that into an unlimited data plan (if they don't already have one). Toyota is high.
That was so laggy when he was pinching to zoom lol. Still a nice screen and camera resolution is decent finally too. Toyota is notably the worst infotainment in the whole care industry.
I would pay option upgrade charges to go from a 14" TV down to an 8" display.
I'd rather take a Yaris Cross.
Hey Toyota
Twelve second later
Yes
1080p 14 inch display? Uh, no thanks. That’s horrible. You need at least a 2K display for that size.
When are these car manufacturers going to finally realize we don’t want to use their proprietary stuff?Just let me plug in my phone and use that for maps and media.
I could care less about using any of those “smart assistants”. Just plug in my phone and I’m good to go
It has wireless CarPlay and android auto so you won’t even have to plug it in.
oh my god, The big manufacturers need to stop using crappy processors in their media centers. That map system was so slow and clunky at the beginning. What a shame. These trucks are $50,000 - They better damn well include a snappy user interface for the media center.
That’s what I thought. The latest Snapdragon chip should be able run
that google map like a champ. Look at how smooth the maps were in Carplay lol.
Oh come on. Anybody that gives any auto manufacturer any money for navigation has never used google maps or Apple Maps or Waze etc, FOR FREE which is 1 million times better. I have this truck and it has massive issues working with your phone. Im not paying any subscription to Toyota or anyone else for something that is free and much better
The Ram still a better looking truck inside out!
Huge laggy screen looks like a waste.
9:22 most people i know talk out of their a$$
Wearing a mask oudoors…??
This huge screen as far as I am concerned is the big turn off for me. Huge distraction. Would never trade my 2020 for the new one.
