    Lyrics
Every day I hear a different story
People saying that you're no good for me
Saw your lover with another and she's makin' a fool of you, oh
If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
    Tell me I'm a baby, and I don't understand
But you know that I'll forgive you
    Just this once, twice, forever
'Cause baby, you could drag me to hell and back
Just as long as we're together
    And you do
    I don't want your freedom
I don't want to play around
    I don't want nobody, baby
Part time love just brings me down
    I don't need your freedom
Girl, all I want right now is you
    Do, do, do
    Whoa, oh, yeah
    Do-do-do-do-do-do
    Do-do-do-do-do-do
Like a prisoner who has his own key
But I can't escape until you love me
I just go from day to day knowing all about the other boys
You take my hand and tell me I'm a fool to give you all that I do
I bet you someday, baby, someone says the same to you
But you know that I'll forgive you
    Just this once, twice, forever
'Cause baby, you could drag me to hell and back
Just as long as we're together
    And you do, oh
    I don't want your freedom
I don't want to play around
    I don't want nobody, baby
Part time love just brings me down
    I don't want your freedom
Girl, all I want right now is you
    Do, do, do
Can't you see you're hurtin' me?
    Whoa, oh, yeah
    Do-do-do-do-do-do
    Do-do-do-do-do-do
You hurt me baby, hurt me baby
    Oh
    Do-do-do, do, do, do, do
    Do-do-do, do, do, do, do
    Do-do-do, do, do, do, do
    Do-do-do, do, do, do, do
You hurt me baby, hurt me baby
But you know that I'll forgive you
    Just this once, twice, forever
'Cause baby, you could drag me to hell and back

I don't want to play around
    I don't want nobody baby
Part time love just brings me down
    I don't want your (I don't want your)
    I don't want your (I don't want your)
    I don't want your (I don't want your)
I don't want your part time love
    Oh

The trumpet you hear beginning at 5:46 was played by my late father. He never got much public recognition for his contribution to this song, but I always told him the song wouldn’t have been the same without him! We miss him everyday!

I saw Wham! in Miami in 1985. I was 16 years old and it was one of the most fun concerts that I have ever attended. So much energy and happiness! There were three or four women for every guy and they were soooooooo beautiful! I was a little too young and shy to go for it with adult women, but it sure was fun just being a part of that amazing crowd! Thank you for those good times and wonderful memories George Michael!

Shoo John, where at in Miami? I saw him in high school as well, but I thought it was the Sportatorium (which was in Hollywood). Anyway, you're right. What an amazing, "happy" concert! With a LOT beautiful women I had NO clue what to do with!!!lol (FWIW, my older sister took me. So yeah, I was clueless...;))

    • @JohnSmith-pp7ux
      @JohnSmith-pp7ux 7 років тому +4

Cornelius Praeda Hah! It's been so long that I'm having a hard time remembering! I do recall for sure that it was outside so maybe the Orange Bowl? If I'm recalling accurately the Hollywood Sportatorium was an inside venue (and an acoustical disaster), but maybe I'm misremembering. Either way, such good times! Also, tomorrow, send your sister a note saying "thanks" for taking baby bro to see such an awesome performer. Best regards sir!

    • @JohnSmith-pp7ux
      @JohnSmith-pp7ux 7 років тому +16

Cornelius Praeda I figured it out. I saw Wham! at Miami Stadium, an old baseball stadium that was in Miami until it was torn down in the late 90s or early 00s. I knew I saw them outside and a google search showed that they played there in September of 1985. Also, not to be morbid, but thinking of the Hollywood Sportatorium and artists who passed away in 2016, I saw Prince in concert at that venue. Believe it or not, he was the opening act for Billy Idol. Prince had just started to blow up with "1999" and "Little Red Corvette" while Idol was in his full glory. Both Prince and then Idol were really great.

China in the 80's was still a closed communist society and nowhere near as open as it is today. It would be like a band visiting North Korea today.

Heard this song a few days ago here in 2021. Hadn't heard it since I was a kid of 8 years old back in the 80s. I had to pull my car over and just sit and listen to it. I was put into a time machine where the world was happy. Some things sucked, some people were treated poorly, some people lived in poverty, but there was still a vibe and spirit of joy back then. Fast forward to me being 45 years old in 2021 and I sit and wonder "How could anyone have this much joyful energy that almost 40 years later they can STILL make me smile and make me tap my feet?"
Make a commitment TODAY to be THAT person people remember 40 years ago, and when they remember you, they smile and feel the joy. The stress and anxiety of today will be NOTHING in 40 years.

I cannot emphasize enough how mature, classy and non-judgemental George Michael's introductory commentary here was, especially given the time and given his age. This really elevates my appreciation of him not only as an artist but also on a personal level. He understood that he was not sent there to preach, lecture or moralize and that this was a completely new experience, a journey into the unknown for both sides which should simply be experienced and left to its own device rather than overanalyzing it or forcing it into the political context of the day. Some other artists may not have been able to stay so grounded, non-judgemental and open-minded. So, kudos to him for this, he really did manage to serve as a cultural ambassador here in the best sense of the term!

There's no denying that George Michael was so gorgeous and sexy but Andrew was no slouch either in the wham years. Look at his face in the press conference at 3:25 and his very self-confident swager out of there. You could see they were really having fun as two friends when they sang in their videos. Put that together with George's undeniable writing/producing talent and gifted voice and there you go... the success of Wham! When you are still hearing songs regularly 35 years after they came out now that's success.

Thanks for the music, George Michael. He has left us too soon on Christmas Day (12/25/2016) at the age of 53. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Me! They were so happy, carefree without a care in the world. They had no idea how much would change within the next 10 years. I love the two little boys, it reminds me of when I would babysit my two boy cousins and I had to tell them to both hold my hand so I don't lose them.

I was ten when this came out and too be frank was never a fan but as the years have passed, I find myself frequently listening to 80s songs that literally almost have my eyes welling up remembering long lost family members and various memories!
