Thanks for your review. Please keep these videos churning
Will do! Thank you for taking the time to show support!
Amazing reviewer! Quickly turning into one of the best on this platform. Keep up the excellent job.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. I truly appreciate it.
Man so glad you're covering the 560 S. I was just thinking about you reviewing it the other day.
Thank you for checking out the video!
thank you so much for such a professional review
definitely reinforced my purchasing decision in buying these guys, just spent wayyy too long into the night going down the rabbit hole of what headphone to buy and trying to filter out the "best gamer headphone" product placements on ranking websites. Thanks again
Excellent review!
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave some feedback! I appreciate you checking out the video!
Good to hear your thoughts on the 560S, got mine a few weeks ago and so far pretty happy with them. Just got the HE-5xx and already own the tygr 300R so it's getting hard too decide what headphone will be used for what but 5xx still needs some burn in before that decision.
Thank you for checking out the video. Yeah a pretty different fit between those three. I would weigh in but the things that set those headphones apart are all subjective preference really.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 agreed what's right for one person might not work for another. Also thanks for the graph comparisons while not the whole story just seeing a direct comparison helps.
Out of these 3 which did you find soundstage and imaging best for gaming?
Wich do you prefer between tygr300r and hd560s in soundstage and imaging for footsteps?
Question what dac/amp do you recommend for the dt990 pro 250ohm or the sennheiser hd560s ? Can you help me with a few options ? I was thinking the soundblasterx g6 or the schiit stack ? Or what do you recommend ?
Corsair Virtuoso SE for chatting/conference call and music and a brand new pair of hd560s for gaming. Such a blessing to be able to afford these two great products.
Thanks for this review, I just snagged these on a whim as they were on sale for $139.99. I have given them about an hour or so of gaming [Escape From Tarkov] and would love to let people know, you can definitely distinguish location of enemies footsteps. What surprised me though, is I could also pinpoint enemy voice lines, as well as gunfire. Something I have never been able to do previously using a $300 Astro A50 Gen. 4 gaming headset. It is a night and day difference for me. A little nervous about the “extended honeymoon phase” but I think if I like these after a few months, I may buy a second pair as a backup for when these eventually die for me in years down the road.
Thanks for the data, and nice analysis of its place within the appropriate price brackets.
Edit for anyone curious. I am using these through my Presonus Audiobox USB. The OG version and not the 96 edition.
What’s the sound leak like for the 560s. Can people in the room hear gunshots when playing tarkov?
@@AticusIII It's not awful, if the room is silent people could probably hear them but even if a TV with normalized sound is going it's not noticeable to me. It hasn't woken my partner up yet lol
Thank u, I mainly wanted to know how they sounded in open world and rpg solo games, but do u think u can explain a little more to that regard, how good are they in single suer games? I don't really need alot of bass I have bass head headphones for tht
Great video.
a question, in your opinion which is better the HIFIMAN he400se or the sennheiser hd 560s? I am not sure which one to choose as I have seen that both are excellent and have a similar price. but I would like your personal opinion on which is better.
So since I'm impatient and don't want to wait for the schiit hel dac amp. What other dac amp can I run these headsets with. I also need to.purchase a adaptable mic for these headsets.
would u recommend these for best pinpoint sound accuracy especially for competitive fps?
Thx for the good review . I was about to buy it I have cheap headphone superlux hd681 and was thinking to buy an entry level audiophile headphone is it worth it ? or I cant buy something like hyper x cloud 2 .my main usage is multiplayer games then movies and I prefer wide sound stage and clear sound .I was about to buy this one but I heard that the treble is a bit harsh so I canceled it . cuz my headphone have a very aggressive treble and my ear is so sensitive so I need ur recommendation and thx .
Could you give me some suggestions for mellowing these out on a Parametric eq? You seem especially knowledgeable about such things
Does anyone know if these or the Sennheiser PC38X are better for sound quality?
HI, love your channel! Would the $60 Creative Sound Blaster G3 DAC work well with these on a PS5?
which one is more accurate to pin point foot steps the Philips SHP9500, the HD560S or DT770 ?
560s or x2hr for immersion single player gaming? help please
I have these. They sound great. I haven't connected directly to my PC motherboard. Does anyone think if I add a deck or amp to these it would open them up and make them sound even better? Cuz I do have to have it past 80 % on my volume level to enjoy it
I want the 660s for gaming would that be over kill? Currently have Astro A50
Coming from the 58x and now i have a 560s and the highs seem a little harsh at times, is this expected or am i just listening too loud?
I cant decide between the dt880 and the 560s please help me choose. I do competative gaming, movies and music
how does it compare to the 58x in terms of imaging, was wondering if it has that "egg" shape effect to it. and how large is the soundstage on these compared to that of the 58x? would really appreciate the help.
the stage is better here. for pvp these are a step up for sure.
How connect on series x
For music and movies do you recommend the 560s or the DT900 Pro x?
For sound quality only 560s or 58x??
Love mine, they need 30+ hours burn in and with a warm dap and dac/amp like Sony they have warmed up from the initial snarl.
they are good headphones, I think more people than not will really enjoy them. good price too
Thanks for this excellent review, i was on the fence between the Hifiman Sundara vs Tygr 300r and now i see this.. i want them to play Escape From Tarkov which i really need Cues to know where exactly are my oponents and how far, which one of the three do you think its better for fps gaming? without loosing the ability to enjoy music too (soundtracks, Orchestras, Jazz, Blues)
your welcome! For PVP the Tygr 300R and 560S stomp the Sundara. I prefer the Tygr 300R but you can't really go wrong.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 I heard the tygr has recessed mids which makes them bad for faint footsteps. Any truth?
@@chadshowdown9382 no
@@chadshowdown9382 They do have recessed mids. Noticeable so over Sennheiser sound profiles, all of which have more mid-range focus.
Hi boss! Which one do you think is better for any headphones like this HD 560s or Tygr 300r? I can not decide. I would mostly use it for games and movies. Thank you for your reply in advance!
I prefer the Tygr but you really can't go wrong. I think you'd be happy with either one and the 560S is much easier to get right now.
Completely agree.
Hey friend, would you consider making a top tier list with the best CLOSED back headphones for gaming currently?
The virtuoso rgb XT by corsair seems to be an improvement from their SE which I cureently have owned for the last 2 years. I just picked up a pair of hd560s today to give the open cup design a try and to have better imaging and soundstage than the corsair. Already noticed a drastic improvement pin pointing footsteps and gunshots, even on a crazy loud game like MW2 because of how much better the sound separation is on the sennheiser.
I currently have Astro A50s gen 4 and was looking to upgrade my audio. I mainly game but I just wanted a headphone that provided more detail and clarity than the Astros. I have already ordered these but just wanted to know if I am heading in the right direction or not.
Have you tested them yet? How are they?
Great work! But what about HD 560S vs DT 900 PRO X, in particular for 3d image?
And there is another thing to consider that no one never does: 3d imaging is a must for a gamer, but also discerning between two or more similar signals, and among multiple signals as explosions, multiple footsteps, gunfires... all in the same time, without the single footstep being covered by them
Hd560s all the way
How does the imaging on the 560 S compare to the TYGR?
Loving the channel
both are good. I think the Tygr by a very slim margin but it's close. If you are choosing between the two it comes down to build/fit and which brand is more comfortable and whether you prefer a more fun or analytical sound character.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 does the 560 have a larger soundstage compared to the TYGR?
Thankyou for replying so often
what is that black brick stand u have ur headphones on? is it FOAM? what is it? anyone knows.
just a yoga block
@@gamingaudioguide9292 thank you so much
Can anyone help me with my Question which one is better for gaming mostly fps … Hd560s - dt880 250ohm - dt770 ? Or which one do you guys recommend ? I was thinking on the dt 1990 pro but for now is too much for my budget . Maybe later down the road
If you’re going to be using it for more than gaming at all I’d say the 560s. The 880s are regarded as being too analytical and dry sounding, which is good for mixing. Not that it’s bad for gaming because you would be able to pick out minute details amd enemies, but it’s going to be more fatiguing over time with long listening/gaming sessions. I’d say 1-2 hours comfortablely w the 880, and 4 hours max imo. The 560 is neutral as well, but the 560 is a better all rounder for me. Beyers in general typically have a sibilance in the highs as well. The dt770 had better bass than the 880, but less soundstage.
You also have to take into account of open back vs closed. The 770s could be uncomfortable because of their closed nature, resulting in a warm or hot feeling around the ears or pressure build up. I prefer open backs because I don’t mind much sound bleed in from my real world surroundings. If I am in need of shutting out my surroundings then I go with iems because closed backs are too uncomfortable for me over long sessions.
The gist of this is that I went with the 560s.
I also have iems, Drop Pandas which are my choice of closed backs, and Sundaras for general use and non competitive games. I’ll have some thieaudio clairvoyance iems soon.
What is your measurement rig? Your measurements look very different than the ones done by others using the GRAS systems with the ear simulators.
Good review overall, I enjoyed the 560s but ended up with the TYGR 300R (I EQ the mids up a bit on it though). I do find the imaging on the TYGR to be a hair better and the resolve as well. The Sub-Bass on the 560s is better than the 300R in my opinion.
I use a miniDSP Ears. In all the videos to date I use 1/48 smoothing (less smoothing than most) and SPL calibrated at 300hz. Most use 1khz.
Good rule of thumb - you really shouldn't put much into comparing measurements from one source to another. Different rigs, different process by the tester, different scaling.... It just doesn't translate very well.
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experience!
Nice review, inline mic options for gaming?
modmic usb is what i use
how does it compare to the Tygr 300r?
They are pretty equal for competitive gaming. If you want a slightly more neutral sound, get the 560S. If you want a more fun signature, get the Tygr.
Great friend video, lots of details and comparisons including my HD 598. Are you interested in covering HarmonycDyne Zeus? I saw some reviews talking very well about them in games too. Very grateful for the work!
Thank you for the kind words.
I'll have to take a look at them. I am honestly not familiar. Thanks for the heads up!
@@gamingaudioguide9292
You have a different opinion from several reviews where they only take the musical part. It talks about the potential of the handset in multiplayer and singleplayer games, as well as in films of different genres and that sincerely is worth my thanks! I'm from Brazil, where buying the wrong headset can make me lose a good amount of money, having an opinion like that really helps. Thank you so much.
is the mesh grill plastic also?
it is
How is the imaging compared to the Pc38x?
I'd rather use the 560S
@@gamingaudioguide9292 thanks!
So can i run these more or less "fine" without an amp? ideally id want them to run great but i dont have an amp/dac😂
im really really thorn between these and the tygr 300r. I feel like i would like the 560s more cause of the fit, bigger earcups and lighter weight but i dont think im readdy to go full audiophile and get an dac/amp and for me that is the only deciding factor thats holding me back from ordering the 560s.
currently using a 770 pro, mainly want an open back for like 60% gaming and 40% youtube, movies and music.
are you running the 770 off motherboard audio? Do you like the fit of the 770?
@@gamingaudioguide9292 hello,
well yes and no, i have a dynamic microphone im using, the Samson Q2U and i have my headphone plugged into the mic and the mic is connected via USB to my pc. I have been using it like this for years for the mic monitoring.
On really high volunes, (around 50 ish) there is quite some mechanical, white noise but other than that i havent heard a real sound quality difference between running them off my mic or my mobo.
I do like the fit on the 770 but after an hour or 2 i do have to readjust it to remove some of the pressure. I have pretty big ears thats also why i was leaning towards the 560s
@@ashkanak2746 I would still recommend getting an amp/DAC, something like a schiit stack modi/magni combo would probably improve sound quality enough to notice it and its only $198 for the combo.
@@Good18Man hey thanks for the recommendation, ive been looking and the modi hersey not only does it looks beautiful but i hear its also very damn capable.
Oh yeah i just orderd them both, tygr is still on it's way but so far the 560s has been really really nice. although it has a higher impedance than my dt 770 (80 ohm) it actually seems to get way louder than my dt 770s without any noticable distortion. Also super happy with the fit. Now it all comes to wether i'll like the more "fun" tygrs for everyday use or the more analytical 560s.
@@ashkanak2746 how are the 560s running straight from a phone or a controller without an amp/dac, i’m in the same position as you were I cant really afford an amp in addition to the headphones
HD 560s vs DT 770 PRO. Which one do you prefer for gaming? Is it worth replacing the 770 with the 560s?
assuming you can EQ - that's tough. In a vacuum, I prefer an open headphone, so I would go 560S. However if you can EQ the 770 - I slightly prefer it's sound. If you like what you have, I would not switch.
IV bought the hd660s I play warzone competitively and and I can't hear footsteps do you think this would be a better buy ?
you would pick up footsteps a touch better but not dramatically so. the 560s has a better stage and imaging. however, I'm not sure it's worth selling and buying a new set, especially if you like everything else about the 660S. Just use some EQ to boost for footsteps. watch my recent warzone video for help on figuring out how to do that.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 I don't know what I like about them I have had them for a week and I can't hear anything I need too I run them on a fosi audio dac-Q4 I don't know if that's enough for them but I'm looking in to other headphones really don't like these at all and for the price I'm just disappointed
660s have very small soundstage. They are an intimate headphone. I was finding footstep sounds were coming from behind my head instead of below it where they should be.
@@stormsxii2461 warzone's audio isn't the best however I do hear them with my Dt 990 pro.
Do these have a mic? I’m looking into gaming headsets and don’t see one on here
Negative
U need a V boom mic and there's a tiny Versatile Adapter you need because it has the specific shape where u plug it into your headphones.
Just bought them and have ordered the adapter that matches these, then my boom mic can easily be plugged in.
If u going for sound headphones vs gaming headphones u will always need a boom mic and the headphone should be able to plug of the cable or else u can't use a boom mic ofc.
This or the dt 880?
I own a 560s and had burn in for around 80hrs. Pros:( can hear many details, good sound stage). Cons: ( slight lack in bass, slightly harsh in treble in certain music). Is like love and hate at the same time. Can anyone recommend any headphone with strong bass, wide sound stage and less harsh treble without burning a hole in my pocket? Thanks in advance.
The bass is very meager... it does some weird roll off in the midbass
maybe try 900 pro x if you can return them if you don't like em? more "fun" sound and more bass
Awesome review man! Your findings of the 560 is pretty on par with what they felt on super best audio friends. They did mention that the 560s imaging and soundstage was similar to the hd800's. They also prefer the 880 for a more neutral presentation.
Oh, have you seen that drop is releasing the hd8xx (hd800S) with a slightly different sound sig?
Thank you for the kind words!
I have and I will keep you guys updated on my thoughts.
I disagree with having similar soundstage and imaging I have both but I use both on console with the g6 amp/dac. The difference between the both is far the hd 800 is clearly superior I find the 58x and 560 closer where the 560 has better soundstage but imaging better on 58x.
@@fliptout86 when they mentioned about imaging and soundstage it wasnt "comparable" just similar. The hd800 obviously is still superior in terms to the ST being much larger. Plus these guys have been doing reviews for quite some time. You should check um out. They're not like headfi where they hype everything.
Oh! Have you tried the 580 naked? All the foam removed? The sound stage opens up a smidge more and a little more clarity.
@@hawaiian-cerveza I’m just replying to your comment saying they are similar but I notice it like night and day compared to any of my headphones. The 58x does have the foam out. But also I have it on ps4 console with a g6 amp so maybe that’s why I notice it different idk. I have shp 9500 hd560 hd58x hd660s dt990 pro dt990pro black edition hd800 and hd800s the best ones for soundstage and imaging are the original hd800
@@fliptout86 Yeah, I use my hd58x with all the foam removed and the grill removed as well as balanced but the can doesn't scale as much as the hd800 would.
Im waiting to get the hd8xx as it seems to be a lean towards the hd800 with a hint of the 800s bass. But Im waiting for more reviews.
Ive had my fair share of cans but would like to listen to more. Ive had the hd650 (put me to sleep), LCD v2, dt990 ( gave me a headache) dt1350 (good portable), ie8, jvc woods, noble 4c (still currently have), akg q701 (by far my fav for gaming, I wanna try the hd800/s/xx). Had the Ultimate ears UE 10 pro, atrios m7, I dont remember all the things I had. Slowed down the last 7 yrs.
I do miss my lavry da11 dac and lake people v200 amp but currently use the lcx + sdac after getting married and having a baby. I haven't been able to get back into the audiophile scene as of yet but Im hoping to soonish.

@@gamingaudioguide9292 can’t wait for your review on the PC38X!
PC38x sucks. It has good bass, imaging and is fun but narrow soundstage kills it and clamp is very strong. Also cheap build
@@JohnnyLongpube I disagree lol I got the PC38X 3 days ago to see if I want to keep it. It has insane imaging in Apex legends, CSGO, and Valorant. The soundstage seems to be pretty wide as I could hear enemies from 50 m away. The clamping force was very strong on the first day but it has loosen up a lot and I no longer feel the pressure. It’s by far the best gaming headset that I’ve tried.
@@cynicalsense8825 that’s not soundstage
PC38x or this?
I'd go 560S, mostly because the pc38X feels so darn cheap and I personally prefer to buy a little nicer build quality.
Are the vocals SHOUTY especially female in the upper register like the 660s ????
female vocals were certainly pushed forward. if that is your definition of "shouty", then yes, for sure.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 my definition of shouty is when vocals sound harsh and don't represent the TRUE tone of the vocalist, what is your definition???
@@TheSteve57 Hi Steve. I think many adjectives can mean different things to different people in regards to audio, so I try to be super clear to someone when I get asked a question like that.
The majority of the female vocal tracks tend to focus on 1k to 6k. You can see from the graphs that the 560S has a rather large emphasis in a good chunk of that range. Some people will enjoy that emphasis depending on their subjective preferences, preferred music genre, preferred musician, etc.
It does obviously emphasize that region way beyond a typical FR curve, so going off what you have described, it's not a stretch to say you would probably find that very off putting. :) I hope that helps.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 yes that helps, thanks for finding the time to give a detailed answer 👍👍
Watched the review again before making my decision. Pulled thr trigger on the Beyer Tygr300R. I just turned 30 and I want to protect my hearing, so a warm fun signature will be much less fatiguing. I was a fan of that mid focused signature of the audiotechnica air series AD500 to AD2000 but they can be fatiguing in the long run and looks like this new Senn HD560S will be equally fatiguing.
Would these be good for classical music? I like to listen via my iphone while reading? I dont want to spend anymore money than these.
Classical would come across pretty in your face. I would make sure to purchase from someone with a good return policy in case you don't like them.
Go hd600 if you love classical music
Hi great interesting Video, unfortunately Sennheiser headphones now in a plain box now . Regards mark
Sundaras for music, 560S for gaming. Couldn't be any happier.
But if I had to only choose one for general enjoyment... I don't think you'll ever be able to beat the 560S. Just incredible value in the price to technicalities department. Being the 800S' 'little-brother' says ALOT about these pair of cans, and it's a testament to how great it is.
I was gonna get sundara but people saying there's a noise in planer headphones what's that mean ?
Can you describe a little bit more your music and gaming experience?
Does HD 560 have mic?
No
U need v boom mic plus a adapter for the plug in at least for these headphones
These headphones are like the definition of beauty is on the inside
Are there worth over the 599?
I hesitantly say yes, but not my a large price difference.
Yes, they have better soundstage and lift the veil on the 599s
599 is better for bass heavy music.
I honestly felt that the velour pads on these felt worse then the black Beyerdynamic. They felt abit more scratchy to my skin so to say.
Beyerdynamic has the best velour. Even their black is really pretty great. That silver..... yes.... awesome...
Are the earpads removable? Thats the only thing that keeps me away from buying these
@Mikko Well I bought DT880 Pros one month ago because I couldnt find an answer that says they are removable. FML but I'm still happy
560S or hd558 for gaming?
I wonder myself, the 560s just looks like a new designed 5xx series... got a hd558 myself.
560S has much better bass extension, so better for SP. 598 (I don't think I tried the 558) had just as good imaging and wasn't as forward or in your face sounding. I prefer the 598. Wouldn't surprise me if most prefer the 560S.
I bought a pair they feel very cheap
First one...UwU
Ive bought and returned the sennheiser HD 560s TWICE!
Left driver was in both cases more sensible around 8k-13k making the sound image tilt to the left by 5-10%
I've done mono tests, reverse test, reverse stereo image + reverse hp to rule out my ears being sensible to specific frequencies, friend test etc
This is not acceptable! (I didn't pay to get a headache and a deaf ear)
The literally look like testes surrounded by the vas deferens. Once you see that, you will hate the design 🤣
very boring headphones
