Melanocrysum- you can’t get it to size up. I can’t even get the new leaves properly to properly unfurl. The emerging petioles will stab through the leaf while it’s still bent and lock it itself in plant jujitsu!
My pallidiflorum is the queen of my plants! Not just because it's beautiful and shimmers in the light but because I frequently suck at watering and she just keeps being a queen! My care of her has been horribly neglectful and she just keeps forgiving me as soon as I give her a drink. I love her so much!
Good to know. I have that plant on my list. Those long leaves are irresponsible to me.
I’d love to see Kaylee rant about the plants she despises. Like… go off sis!
I was laughing out loud when you talked about the melanochrysum 😂 It has an identity crisis, thinks it’s a Micans 😂
One of my fav plant UA-camrs calls his Melanocrisis, lol
You had me at "Does it think its Micans? Is this some sort of weird Fight Club thing?". I've never liked the Red Spot 3color -- the like the strawberry shake of Syngonium. It reminds me of Calamine lotion.
😆 I’ve got a vibe. My tortum collection, polyploidies, and Cupreas are my special children. 💚 Wazi’s grow sloooooow. I bought a big one, and it’s painfully slow.
Not the tortum and veitchii! I have moss poles in my home, and I don't have any kind of design theme for the plants. I like that I can rotate them around in the higher traffic areas. I don't have a plant vault, so they all gotta fit in the house. 😂
So glad its not just me who cant get melanochrysum to size up 😂 Also... it's intent on tearing its own new leaves (why?!). Hope you enjoyed Kew and are feeling better Kaylee! 💚 PS - hope you and Ben decorate for halloween again (maybe the studio if not the wall?) and Ben avoids drone mishaps this time around 🤣
I have the same issue with my melano! And it hates being cut to the point where the new growth comes out sh*t... 😅 and I can't do anything about it, so it looks just dumb 😂
Melano is just a queen as anthurium waroc
Melano NEEDS high humidity while unfurling new leaves. Stick it right near a humidifier at that time or tie a plastic bag over that stem - just till it's opened
I spend all day working with religious people and having to keep my colorful language to myself so this channel is awesome to me! Be you! Keep the color coming!
I bought your feed at launch and have been using it as a foliar spray on some Philodendron seedlings I have growing in perlite. I have absolutely seen results and am really really pleased, thank you!!
Spiritus and esqueleto piss me off, bought both as investments and both crashed like the next month 🙃 now I’m growing them out of spite
You're absolutely right, P. Melano simply doesn't thrive when grown at home, I've done absolutely everything.
I really like my tortum because of the unusual shape. My collection is very much a mix of shapes, sizes, colours and patterns rather than a curated uniform look, and the only other plant I have with narrow leaves like that is a Dracaena. I see a lot of pictures of collections that are all heart-shaped, mostly green variations of the same theme - Philodendron, Monstera, Anthurium - but that's just not the look I'm going for. Maybe my collection looks messy to other people who prefer a more uniform look, but hey, we all have different tastes :)
Melanochrysum and Syngonium Albo are still one of my favorites!
😂😂 I need you to make more videos like these of you getting bored of these gorgeous plants so people stop buying them and prices go down!❤
Omfg yes to the melanochrysum. I have had mine for...4 years? And it keeps getting smaller and smaller. It's been in 3 different mixes, on 3 different poles, been fed, not been fed etc. It grows like a weed, don't get me wrong. But I have had 4 feet of scrawny little cuttings from it. Looks like a one legged octopus floating around with it's one big, original leaf and then leaves the size of golf balls. 😮💨
I love the tortums. I love the White knight, they. Are beautiful
Me too but for some strange reason I struggle with my Tortum??🥹
Hi kaylee! Love you and your channel! I love these videos! The good and the bad of plants. It’s helpful! Thank you!
I loved your video in trashing plants haha. Maybe do one on super pretty plants which are headache to grow? could be fun :)
You are saying exactly what everyone would say about them little buggers 😅😅😂👏🏽👏🏽
Lmao at 30:06 I thought she said “link to my FEET is down below” and I was like, WOW that got weird! 😂😂 FEED. Feed makes SO much more sense!
And here I am with my recent wendlingeri pickup, lol.
Can't wait for the video on the spiritus-sancti 😅 Just got mine at Botanika two weeks ago for a reasonable price.
yes they float the marked right now, in germany for 80 Bucks eight now
@@sunz1337 Yeah, got a fairly established one (roots at the bottom of the pot and pushing out a new leaf) for 70.
Bd+
I almost bought one, too. Maybe it‘d be a better choice due to it‘s fairly easy care (atleast what you hear) but I picked the wendlingeri for 20 bucks more because I was still skeptical about the low prices of the SS right now lol
@@sunz1337 I got a P. atabapoense at Hornbach (labeled as Philodendron Spezial Mix) for 9,99 Eur earlier this year. Not sure if the PSS will end up this way too 😅
With Alocasia they need to dry out but not dry out lol. Once you get it, you get it. I think it’s important they get good airflow. Since they need to stay moist-ish they also need airflow so they don’t get root rot. I always put them in chunky soil using a terracotta pot. They do great.
The cuprea is my favourite Alocasia 😂 I love weirdo plants, though
Bahaha I love the tortum too. My collection is just wacky looking and I love it. I have a Senecio stapelitformis that is just two really long sticks and it delights me. So yeah, there’s a vibe there 😅
Double heartbreak for the King Anthurium!! I can’t understand! 😭😭 lolol
Kaylee, I´d love to see a video on monstera obliqua and spiritus sancti 🙂
I disagree with some plants on the list, but that´s personal experience and preferences, I guess 🙂
On p. painted lady: it´s not the most exciting plant in the world, but it´s pretty enough (when there are more stems in the pot). I like her simply because she is so easy going, has nice red stems, looks interesting from the back against the light and creates a nice backdrop for the rest of my collection.
ummm while I do like vittarifolium, the plant on the picture is a pallidiflorum... you can tell by the round top of the leaf, vittarifolium is narrow and the leaf is curved as a result, not flat like that. Also vittarifolium doesn't have this light midrib.
ur monstera albo is looking great
Funny how dark lord and painted lady are both on the list. I just potted them together since they’re both just “okay”, and I’m hoping they look cooler as a yin/yang thing.
Tried potting atabapoense and paraiso verde together. Its gorgeous. So happy to have someone who have the same idea. 😊😊
@@plantyshizz1011 less pots to water is always a good thing. 🤣
For the melanochrysum, I was soo lucky to have bought one plant for 30€, that was a top cutting from a professional, big plant shop and this guy has sized up and grown AMAZINGLY in my west facing living room. It’s about 120 cm in height, and has leaves of 45 cm, even with spider mites (they’re the worst that has happened to my plant collection and I cannot get rid of them for good). Anyway, I think it’s in the genes of the plant if it will size up nicely or not 😊
I bought my melanochrysum as a wee thing and for ages it barely sized up until I decided to chop it. And then, through me messing with, and accidentally ripping off new leaves, by some miracle it began sizing up quite rapidly. I'm by no means a plant expert, but a well hydrated moss pole, a grow light and feed and mine does great!
every calthea dies of spider mites
I have a HUUUUGE narrow form Veitchii that is acting up and making me feel inadequate, so i'm kind of with you at this very moment 😂
To ppl who don’t like the colourful language, there’s loads of family friendly plant UA-camrs out there waiting for you.
You could have kept this thought to yourself, but you went and wrote it publicly in an episode - which the creator spent countless hours to produce. Everyone has a right to express themselves whichever way they deem suitable, just as much as you had the choice to not click into this video. Im not attacking you, but your words were disrespectful and shows disregard to someones hard work.
They are just words geezum my 3 year old uses the same colorful language 😅 and frankly I love it makes her more relatable and real !
@randomletter-5i4you just had to point it out. And now the whole video I’m waiting for everything to be repeated. Why would you do that?
Grow up @angelaindublin
@randomletter-5i4so don’t watch her and move on
I live where Warziewskii are native to and the only one I've seen is growing here is in literal mud and human feces. But it is glorious. So yeah, hates drying out and a really heavy feeder.
My philodendron warscewiczii aurea grows pretty well even indoors in the northern hemisphere. Idk if the personality is different than the standard green.
My variegated adansonii reverted 😭
I love my vetchii, he’s put out loooong leaves with those sexy abs!
The Painted Lady on this list hurt my heart a little a can’t lie 😭 I felt offended on behalf of the beautiful Painted Lady: her yellow/green/red/pink colorway is just such a vibe!
Love your channel
I agree with most of these. I also owe almost all of them lol!
You explained perfectly why I chose not to get a melanocrisum after getting a Mican because I just didn’t see the difference as enough to justify it. I personally have fallen out of love with the Brandtianum or as I call it the brat-tianum because it’s a diva, small leaves that ALWAYS get stuck, and ugly leaves every time, definitely not worth the hype in my opinion
Thanks for the video- 💚
You are such a delight! I always cheer when you put up a new video, because I have learned so much about the plant world because of you. I mean, I've grown houseplants for mumblety mumble years, got quite pleased a couple of years ago when I started seeing all kinds of interesting new (to me) plants, but had NO idea about the whole wildly priced/investment plant thing. Not for me, but good on you for making a living at it. I grow plants because I love them, both outside in my garden and in the jungle that is my house. They make me happy. A few of my favourites were on your list and that's fine. Each to their own, right? My only regret is I'm in Canada and you're in the UK so I can't support your business due to shipping etc. I hope you get your plant food approved for beyond UK soon, though. All best wishes to you.
I feel you on the Painted Lady. I’ve never understood the appeal. They look like a diseased plant.
Please do a video of plants you hate. A top 10 of marantacea plants would be awesome. Because that would be fun. A video of plants with a sea them could be fun.
Hate??? Why hate any plant? They are live conscious beings just like you and me
"conscious beings"...
Oh geez, not everyone will like every single plant in the world. Everyone is entitled to their opinions as well. For me, I am very allergic to certain plants. So at times there are some plants that I hate. I'm not saying destroy them, or anything like that. So perhaps you should slow your roll, and just let it be.
Today I learned that I have a vibe
5:02 Alocasia Zebrina, ahh yes my favorite Anthurium
Oh my goodness. Do you still have an Islemanii? I used to love them and now when I see them being sold I’m like ‘eh’🤷🏼♀️
Cuprea is not a Alocasia I could get into
I used to have a massive gorgeous gigas but i was hospitalized ans no one was there to take care of my plants ans she was one of the casualties
Your Melano needs a moss pole. Try it you might be surprised.
BTW please make a video on your hoyas.
They are lot less in spotlight for a llong time 😊
Put that Billetiae right back! NOW!!
omg i need video of kaylee shitting on bad plants
I trashed my melano, this shit made me so mad.
Pink princess...I'm so over you. Bought 3 over time. 1 rotted completely, 1 shrank and the last one won't unfurl its beeping leaves unless I leave it a prop box, where obvs I can't see it...sigh
I agree 👍 💯
I'd love some plant shittalking :)
Yes, Love WW way better than WK or WP! So over Melono! When you have a lot of plants, you get over the difficult ones.
I've always hated that cuprea color. It's like a ruddy brown purple. It doesn't look good with a mix of other plants around either.
Does anyone else have problems growing Tortums?
Why do I hate the word "Collection"? Graduated in 1994 in Horticulture, have kept tons of house plants since I was going to school, have been a GH Mgr, have been a wholesale tropical plant sales rep (before internet and mail order), and have never once referred to my house plants as "my collection". I have no idea why it annoys me, but I just find the word and its common use on you tube bizarre. I dont refer to my dinner plates as my collection of plates, I dont refer to my dogs as my dog collection.... I dont have a collection of jeans ... Does it seem weird to anyone else??
No because it’s a collection of plants if someone has more than one or two like she does or other UA-camrs do. Like I have a pack of dogs or multiple pair of socks and at the same time a collection of multiple plants.
Wur-shae-wichee-ee
It's growing in seasonally dry habitats maybe your keeping it too wet
I would say strawberry shake. Im so tired of that plant.
I'd love to see a Kaylee Ellen shit talking plants video.. it just tickles me to hear you cuss for some reason LOL
Omg anthurium vittarifolium is so boring. I honestly don't get why you go back to that one. Wendlingeri should be the standard. vittarifolium sets the standard too low.
Succulents! I am definitely no longer a fan after having them. They look beautiful in stores or others collections but never again lol 😅
Some plants do better when treated badly.
yes please give us a shitting on plants video lol just some plants you dont like and why type video
I wish you put pictures of your own plants or bought them out next to you so we can see how crap they are 😂
vah-rsheh-vee-chee :) should really be vah-rsceh-vee-chee but I don't think an English speaking person can pronounce "rsceh" part :)
This is how it looks like when you decide to film a video even when you are not feeling up for it… maybe you should have skip this one Kaylee…
Do you know what I’m tired of? Monstera deliciosas and rhaphidophora tetraspermas.
This video offends me so much lol love u
Do you know that almost every sentence you speak includes the shit or the f-k word? It is not becoming.
Did you know her purpose in life is not to be “becoming”?
Then don’t watch.
This fucking pisses me off to see
I won’t @@hellowilson5335
Speak for yourself and keep your outdated views for yourself. She‘s a woman right after my own heart.
would LOVE to see more shop tours, vlog style vids, or shop updates. I like these 'list of plants' video formats but they get a tad repetitive and I'd love to see your content expand!
Thank you for saying it, I've been thinking that since weeks
The spiritus crash is a little hilarious only because I actually saw people spending 7k on them, and that is absurd.
You basically trashed 80% of my collection here 😂 Thanks 😅
“Does it think it’s a Micans?!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cuprea looks like a bug to me 😅
Exactly why I’ve got a huge one. I just found out I’ve got a vibe. 😁
Me too, a big bed bug or something 🤢😂🤮😅
Exactly. Like a shiny fascinating bug - that´s why I need to get it :-D It´s so weird it´s captivating 😀
The pronunciation of Philodendron Warscewiczii is close to 'Var-se-vee-chee', the name is after Polish botanist :) Same with Calathea warscewiczii etc.
The varigated adansonii is my first love, still my #1. Not as hardy as the non varigated variety but i just can't get over her beauty. She grows slower than the basic one and for every 1-2 leaves I gain, one dies.
Check your caring routine, they are hungry and don't like super dry feet. Same goes for the green version but this one is more hungry (fertilizer).
I recently saw a tortumXfloridabeauty hybrid on another user’s video, I thought it looked quite nice 👍🏻
Oh! I must have a look for that. Sounds interesting.
Glad I didn't see gloriosum anywhere on that list 😂 truth be told though as a buyer I became more savvy in my third year of plant buying, so I could take advantage of the drop in prices
please please please make a video shitting on plants
My painted lady’s new leaves always got stuck as they were popping out. It actually did way better outside.
Okay, we could definitely turn this video into a drinking game Drink everytime Kaylee says “I feel like”😂 No hate, just gave me a chuckle❤
This is so what I’d watch after a few drinks. If I’m on my own that is 😂
No one in my real life understands the plant love. Happy to find my ppl! So nice to see more ‘my ppl’ here lol😂
i’d love to hear abt what plants you are really excited by lately
Got a pale Painted Lady from a friend noid at arrival id'd later on. I was guessing it was the lovechild of a lasagna pasta plate and a philodendron. Such a meh look (but if mine survives it will probably look good next to a pink/green/white speckled Aglaonema).
Ur feed my siglalgottis loves it. Its drooping way less and looks fab x
I feel the same way about cable curls. Just got tired and needed new growth 😅
GASP not the painted lady 😱 Lol I mean if you want compact, she’s not for you 😂 I still love mine though ☺️
The only syngonium I have is a baby Milk Confetti and I adore it.
You're so cute great videos
My melo is alive.. but I am yet to see bigger leaves.
Lol it’s so funny cause like more than 50% of these are on my wishlist/ were on my wishlist and I now have 😂
I definitely fit in with kind of pet, but once a plant goes downhill or just doesn’t do anything forever, I do fall out of love. With this hobby you can’t let yourself get incredibly attached simply because anything could happen and a plant could go downhill overnight. It’s just the way it is.
Please make a plant no list!
Do you ship to the US
I won't get offended although having several items from my wish list in this video! That might mean I just will get them with more affordable price in the future😳 I must wait for the hype to settle down so that I can buy anything...
Never liked painted lady lol, I like the tortum and love dark lords
I often differentiate my plants in "grateful" and "ungrateful" ones. Grateful plants give positive "feedback" to the work and love I put into them. XD (And sometimes I am the ungrateful one, especially when the plant I don't realy like grows as hell, even when I intentionally neglect them.)😅
The pic you have for vittarifolium looks like a pali!! 😆 I can't agree more with the melanochrysum comment. I tried to size it up so many times but it does the weird deformed leaf thing when its cut and gets stuck 9/10 times!
I’m FINALLY having some success sizing up my melano by attaching it to a moss pole and sticking a bag over its face for humidity. That’s her life now.
