My pallidiflorum is the queen of my plants! Not just because it's beautiful and shimmers in the light but because I frequently suck at watering and she just keeps being a queen! My care of her has been horribly neglectful and she just keeps forgiving me as soon as I give her a drink. I love her so much!
Melanocrysum- you can’t get it to size up. I can’t even get the new leaves properly to properly unfurl. The emerging petioles will stab through the leaf while it’s still bent and lock it itself in plant jujitsu!
Out of six stems on my pole, one has done that with its new leaf. It's clumsy! 🤣 Have you got an update on your plant a year later? Is it still doing that?
@ mine died. I tried everything, such as getting a humidifier just for it. Problem still persists. Then I tried to switch up the mix and make it more water retentive. It just melted 😂. I just figure my conditions is not suitable for that breed. Everything else thrived except for the melanocrysum
@@gaddaitherage8204 Oh damn, sorry to hear that. Wish me luck! A friend of mine has one growing outside (that has sized up nicely) and I've got mine on my bright but sheltered balcony in the same climate, so it should be OK. I've got it in a super well-draining mix, mostly scoria, with a little bit of sphagnum, charcoal and a bit of regular potting mix and I'm keeping its pole moist and with very weak fertiliser at every water.
@@gaddaitherage8204 Thanks! Yeah, only one of the stems is doing the weird petiole thing and it's only one leaf so far. One other new leaf is ripped and I don't know why though ... I think I might have damaged it when I was contorting them all to make contact with the pole. We're coming up to summer now and the heat and humidity should be good for it and maybe stop the petiole thing, but obviously if I can get it to switch to cataphyll growth, that would be best. We'll see.
The cuprea is my favourite Alocasia 😂 I love weirdo plants, though Bahaha I love the tortum too. My collection is just wacky looking and I love it. I have a Senecio stapelitformis that is just two really long sticks and it delights me. So yeah, there’s a vibe there 😅
The varigated adansonii is my first love, still my #1. Not as hardy as the non varigated variety but i just can't get over her beauty. She grows slower than the basic one and for every 1-2 leaves I gain, one dies.
You had me at "Does it think its Micans? Is this some sort of weird Fight Club thing?". I've never liked the Red Spot 3color -- the like the strawberry shake of Syngonium. It reminds me of Calamine lotion.
I bought your feed at launch and have been using it as a foliar spray on some Philodendron seedlings I have growing in perlite. I have absolutely seen results and am really really pleased, thank you!!
😆 I’ve got a vibe. My tortum collection, polyploidies, and Cupreas are my special children. 💚 Wazi’s grow sloooooow. I bought a big one, and it’s painfully slow.
Omfg yes to the melanochrysum. I have had mine for...4 years? And it keeps getting smaller and smaller. It's been in 3 different mixes, on 3 different poles, been fed, not been fed etc. It grows like a weed, don't get me wrong. But I have had 4 feet of scrawny little cuttings from it. Looks like a one legged octopus floating around with it's one big, original leaf and then leaves the size of golf balls. 😮💨
Not the tortum and veitchii! I have moss poles in my home, and I don't have any kind of design theme for the plants. I like that I can rotate them around in the higher traffic areas. I don't have a plant vault, so they all gotta fit in the house. 😂
I really like my tortum because of the unusual shape. My collection is very much a mix of shapes, sizes, colours and patterns rather than a curated uniform look, and the only other plant I have with narrow leaves like that is a Dracaena. I see a lot of pictures of collections that are all heart-shaped, mostly green variations of the same theme - Philodendron, Monstera, Anthurium - but that's just not the look I'm going for. Maybe my collection looks messy to other people who prefer a more uniform look, but hey, we all have different tastes :)
The pronunciation of Philodendron Warscewiczii is close to 'Var-se-vee-chee', the name is after Polish botanist :) Same with Calathea warscewiczii etc.
I live where Warziewskii are native to and the only one I've seen is growing here is in literal mud and human feces. But it is glorious. So yeah, hates drying out and a really heavy feeder.
Glad I didn't see gloriosum anywhere on that list 😂 truth be told though as a buyer I became more savvy in my third year of plant buying, so I could take advantage of the drop in prices
With Alocasia they need to dry out but not dry out lol. Once you get it, you get it. I think it’s important they get good airflow. Since they need to stay moist-ish they also need airflow so they don’t get root rot. I always put them in chunky soil using a terracotta pot. They do great.
So glad its not just me who cant get melanochrysum to size up 😂 Also... it's intent on tearing its own new leaves (why?!). Hope you enjoyed Kew and are feeling better Kaylee! 💚 PS - hope you and Ben decorate for halloween again (maybe the studio if not the wall?) and Ben avoids drone mishaps this time around 🤣
I have the same issue with my melano! And it hates being cut to the point where the new growth comes out sh*t... 😅 and I can't do anything about it, so it looks just dumb 😂
Melano NEEDS high humidity while unfurling new leaves. Stick it right near a humidifier at that time or tie a plastic bag over that stem - just till it's opened
I spend all day working with religious people and having to keep my colorful language to myself so this channel is awesome to me! Be you! Keep the color coming!
The 3 Ps…Philodendron Pink Princess. 🫤🥴 Paid way too much for 2 of them. Both are leggy and the leaves sometimes come out fine and other times they’re all wrinkled and shriveled looking. Then, sometimes the leaves just turn brown and fall off. A true nightmare of a princess. So over her! You’d have to pay me to buy one ever again.
I often differentiate my plants in "grateful" and "ungrateful" ones. Grateful plants give positive "feedback" to the work and love I put into them. XD (And sometimes I am the ungrateful one, especially when the plant I don't realy like grows as hell, even when I intentionally neglect them.)😅
ummm while I do like vittarifolium, the plant on the picture is a pallidiflorum... you can tell by the round top of the leaf, vittarifolium is narrow and the leaf is curved as a result, not flat like that. Also vittarifolium doesn't have this light midrib.
Lol it’s so funny cause like more than 50% of these are on my wishlist/ were on my wishlist and I now have 😂 I definitely fit in with kind of pet, but once a plant goes downhill or just doesn’t do anything forever, I do fall out of love. With this hobby you can’t let yourself get incredibly attached simply because anything could happen and a plant could go downhill overnight. It’s just the way it is.
Sidney plant guy said that he got his melanochrysum to start sizing up by chopping off the top and let it regrow from the new growth points, and those new growths just went nuts.
10:30 I've just started my journey with melanochrysum and although I'd love big leaves, I'm honestly not that fussed if it doesn't size up because P. hederaceum var. hederaceum (P. micans) has just never been available anywhere I've lived and I quite like it too. It's so strange to me that melanochrysum is so much more available than micans. Either way, the leaves are dark and velvety and I have six stems on a pole, so it should at least be lush.
The Painted Lady on this list hurt my heart a little a can’t lie 😭 I felt offended on behalf of the beautiful Painted Lady: her yellow/green/red/pink colorway is just such a vibe!
Kaylee, I´d love to see a video on monstera obliqua and spiritus sancti 🙂 I disagree with some plants on the list, but that´s personal experience and preferences, I guess 🙂 On p. painted lady: it´s not the most exciting plant in the world, but it´s pretty enough (when there are more stems in the pot). I like her simply because she is so easy going, has nice red stems, looks interesting from the back against the light and creates a nice backdrop for the rest of my collection.
Funny how dark lord and painted lady are both on the list. I just potted them together since they’re both just “okay”, and I’m hoping they look cooler as a yin/yang thing.
The pic you have for vittarifolium looks like a pali!! 😆 I can't agree more with the melanochrysum comment. I tried to size it up so many times but it does the weird deformed leaf thing when its cut and gets stuck 9/10 times!
You explained perfectly why I chose not to get a melanocrisum after getting a Mican because I just didn’t see the difference as enough to justify it. I personally have fallen out of love with the Brandtianum or as I call it the brat-tianum because it’s a diva, small leaves that ALWAYS get stuck, and ugly leaves every time, definitely not worth the hype in my opinion

This is so what I’d watch after a few drinks. If I’m on my own that is 😂 No one in my real life understands the plant love. Happy to find my ppl! So nice to see more ‘my ppl’ here lol😂
Why do I hate the word "Collection"? Graduated in 1994 in Horticulture, have kept tons of house plants since I was going to school, have been a GH Mgr, have been a wholesale tropical plant sales rep (before internet and mail order), and have never once referred to my house plants as "my collection". I have no idea why it annoys me, but I just find the word and its common use on you tube bizarre. I dont refer to my dinner plates as my collection of plates, I dont refer to my dogs as my dog collection.... I dont have a collection of jeans ... Does it seem weird to anyone else??
No because it’s a collection of plants if someone has more than one or two like she does or other UA-camrs do. Like I have a pack of dogs or multiple pair of socks and at the same time a collection of multiple plants.
Omg anthurium vittarifolium is so boring. I honestly don't get why you go back to that one. Wendlingeri should be the standard. vittarifolium sets the standard too low.
My pallidiflorum is the queen of my plants! Not just because it's beautiful and shimmers in the light but because I frequently suck at watering and she just keeps being a queen! I've always hated that cuprea color. It's like a ruddy brown purple. It doesn't look good with a mix of other plants around either.
I agree with most of these. I also owe almost all of them lol!
You mentioned so many of my favorites! 😅😂
Cuprea looks like a bug to me 😅
Exactly why I’ve got a huge one. I just found out I’ve got a vibe. 😁
Me too, a big bed bug or something 🤢😂🤮😅
Exactly. Like a shiny fascinating bug - that´s why I need to get it :-D It´s so weird it´s captivating 😀
You basically trashed 80% of my collection here 😂 Thanks 😅
Yes, Love WW way better than WK or WP! So over Melono! When you have a lot of plants, you get over the difficult ones.
Okay, we could definitely turn this video into a drinking game Drink everytime Kaylee says “I feel like”😂 No hate, just gave me a chuckle❤
This is so what I’d watch after a few drinks. If I’m on my own that is 😂
No one in my real life understands the plant love. Happy to find my ppl! So nice to see more ‘my ppl’ here lol😂
GASP not the painted lady 😱 Lol I mean if you want compact, she’s not for you 😂 I still love mine though ☺️
omg i need video of kaylee shitting on bad plants
Never liked painted lady lol, I like the tortum and love dark lords
Does anyone else have problems growing Tortums?
Do you ship to the US
Put that Billetiae right back! NOW!!
My melo is alive.. but I am yet to see bigger leaves.
I trashed my melano, this shit made me so mad.
I'd love some plant shittalking :)
Wur-shae-wichee-ee
It's growing in seasonally dry habitats maybe your keeping it too wet
Do you send to denmark
I agree 👍 💯
I'd love to see a Kaylee Ellen shit talking plants video.. it just tickles me to hear you cuss for some reason LOL
Oooooh do the video of you shitting on plants!!! Here for it!!
I would say strawberry shake. Im so tired of that plant.
Some plants do better when treated badly.
Succulents! I am definitely no longer a fan after having them. They look beautiful in stores or others collections but never again lol 😅
Have you just got your tattoo? X
please please please make a video shitting on plants
Do you know what I’m tired of? Monstera deliciosas and rhaphidophora tetraspermas.
I wish you put pictures of your own plants or bought them out next to you so we can see how crap they are 😂
Omg anthurium vittarifolium is so boring. I honestly don't get why you go back to that one. Wendlingeri should be the standard. vittarifolium sets the standard too low.
