I think after seeing the amount of pink princesses reverting & the price drop as they started appearing in big box stores, people just assume the same will happen with strawberry shake
Definitely seeing a down turn in price on shakes in the US. I’m seeing nicer specimens show up though, I feel like. Man I am so sick of PPP lol. I swear I get one in every “rare”cutting mystery box and freebie node I get 😝
I got a small Burle Marx flame seedling in January and it took 8 months in my care to get the first fully fenestrated leaf. You just need to be patient. Right now I have 5 fully fenestrated leaves. If you pay the price you can buy one year of growth. I decided to save. It’s so exciting to see how the plant matures and the leaf shape changes.
Wish I could find a regional US plant seller/enthusiast that I like to listen to as much as you. I love how informational you are with the uk market to your followers.
I'd love to see a plant wall update some time. You've been hinting at the ups and downs of it. It would be so useful to see your current key take aways from it. Warm greetings into the new year
Hey I live in New Zealand and am appart of the rare house plant community, the variegated minima that sold was real, our community is wildly different to the rest of the world since we cannot import ANY plants from overseas. This makes prices for some plants that would be classed as common in places very pricey here while at the same time we have plants that can be seen as pricey that are cheap as chips! We just live in a different little world
Hi! I'm back again to ask about your orchids! I've tried fighting with the gnats for years. Nothing worked. Nothing. At all. Until I adopted a jumping spider from the wild. I'm not sure if it's a he or a she, so the name of the spider is Moony, and it works in pest control now. I see it around every few weeks - Moony is rather shy, but very hard-working. If you have a gnat issue, consider a pet. 😂🕷️ My best plants this year would be Alocasias. I have a few species and they're doing really well. I was terrified of alocasias for the longest time and they just love my home. They're just thriving. My worst plant is probably the Philodendron El Choco Red. It's hated its life in shipping. It literally died on me. I repot it, there was no rot, nothing obviously wrong, no pests, it just died. I took one cutting and I'm struggling to propagate it atm. It's slowly rotting. 2nd worst has to be Hoya Sigillatis. Same story. Hated shippinng, hated the repot, hated the propagation, hated me...
Thank you for this, and for all your videos, Kaylee Ellen. It intrigues me, what is popular and excites people and what doesn't. I personally don't care for the long strappy philodendrons, by which I mean I wouldn't purchase one, but they're nice plants; same with Alocascia, Anthuriums, etc. Plus I will not pay more than 100.00 Canadian for a houseplant, no way. I'm a patient gardener indoors and out, and prefer to buy my plants small and grow them on.
Like the Thai Crème Brûlée, is the Pink Princess Dark Cherry a load of crap also? I see people list PPP as Dark Cherry but IMO I don’t think it’s any different from a regular one. I’ve seen with my own PPP they can become Dark Cherry with high light.
I think Crème Brûlée is more akin to Marble King PPP, but yeah it’s just a look descriptor and not a different plant. I say this because if you give any PPP higher light, it will become a “dark cherry”, but it’s more so luck to get a more highly variegated plant.
Would be amazing if you took us on a walk through your plants warehouse, aisle by aisle, shelf by shelf, so we can see what goodies and offers are lurking in those corners.
Hi Kailee love this video Felt your flies. Tip water and vinegar in spray bottle now lights have to be off light will affect the plant. Good luck love all your videos. Thank you
Burle Marx flame- so true. Slowest growing plant I've ever seen. Variegated golden dragon spot on with US trends. Aureas have been popular as well. Love what you said about the thais! Creme brulee BS. I think the eurobecens varieties are going to be popular, pink princess hybrids, orange princess, Persimmon Princess etc
The microsorum Thailandicum is horrible to care for! I don’t know why it’s considered a “house plant” cause it will not do will in the house. Definitely needs a green house, cabinet, or even a terrarium to do well. I’ve tried every suggestion I’ve gotten from talking to people who have the plant, and mine will not improve. Yes, it is beautiful, but 0/10 would recommend.
that's not true. I have mine in ambient humidity with no issues. It needs constant moisture, like most ferns, so you can give it a self watering pot and it will be completely ok in a living room. Just don't let it dry out. It also likes strong light (mine is under 30W Barrinas and is dark blue now, for context that's a lot of light, hoyas will sunstress under those) and a good fertilizer, but the moisture is key.
Would you say that the interest in the Crystallinum might have tanked because of all of the hybrids flooding the market using it as a parent plant like the Magnificum or Forgetii? I love mine and if I didn't have it I would be looking for it.
All anthuriums will tank in 2025 because the market is flooded with them, especially hybrids. We will see the same price drop that we saw for philodendron. Maybe some variegates will remain valuable, we shall see.
When I found out that the strawberry shake is just yet another variegated version of the erubescens, I totally lost interest. I did not like how the non-variegated or pink princess versions of that plant grow so I have no desire for yet another one.
I think the longilobatums are gorgeous. They probably don’t sell because people are being mindful of space and they are not variegated. Seems like people only want anthuriums or variegation 😢
I just got a red moon because after the first time you mentioned them they were just impossible to find and then all of a sudden a seller popped up with just a few from cuttings. I love it. It’s just so hard to find
Philodendron Ring of fire has given me nothing but trouble. Weird weird growth, leaf shape reversion, and extra floral nectaries beyond belief that have just ravaged the leaves. It can't just be me, based on my other successes and perusing Reddit threads. I'd love to hear your take on it!
I think that Burle Marx flames and longilobatums haven't sold well for you, because your prices were very high - there are lots of great reputable private sellers with quite a few available of both, for far less than your prices. Having a retail shop vs being a private seller, your results on what is in and fashionable is skewed due to the prices you have to charge to meet overheads - but isn't really a real reflection of buyers and private sellers and general fashion, sorry Kaylee.
Snowdrift on the worst list. They just seem to take a while to acclimate from the store to your home, and you lose quite a bit of leaves and/or get crispy. Also, and this is older- fuzzy petiole. What is it supposed to be doing?! It is more chaotic than a Burle Marx in terms of growth.
I, personally, hate that people keep putting "designer names" on existing plants to ramp up the cost. Creme brulee, white tiger.... blah blah blah. It's literally the same plant but because they make it sound new and exotic they charge more... and then the plant ends up looking exactly like your other ones. It's a complete scam. So THANK YOU for pointing that out. I hope you do a video on these designer variegations because it's shit.
Loved this video. Kaylee you are just oozing energy at the moment, its fab! would love a GD, longilobatum, var chiapense (I have a green one and its beaut), the thailandicum is high on my wish list too. Wishing you a very happy new yr xx
I read through your comments and was surprised to hear quite a bit of negative comments. Seems like you did mention that these were your views, etc. Anyway, I think the sales of most plants have slipped. What I see in stores are plants sitting on shelves, not selling. The lowered prices don't seem to make a difference where I live in Idaho. I will always have houseplants, but some folks are losing interest, and moving on.
I watched the same plants sit at my local plant shop all year. They brought in Monstera Peru and Paraiso Verde. Over the months the monstera started trailing from the table to the ground (until they were cut back) and the Paraiso had to be put on trellises cause they were getting so tall. I'm glad things have died down. The prices were a bit outrageous for a while.
Happy happy New Year to you and yours! I hope it is a wonderful celebration for you. Thank you for a lovely year of plants, humor, and courage. I appreciate the heck out of the work you do.
Billie conspiracy theory based on my completely unscientific data set of one. I really wanted a Billie during the plant boom, but the prices were offputting. I did some research and decided the Atabapoense was equally cool, equally hardy, but (most importantly) cheaper - so that's what I went with. Now, Atabapoense is passed around locally for super cheap, and no one sells Billies. I love my plant, and the desire to get a Billie has completely faded. I already have my hardy, long-leafed plant that does something cool (red backs vs orange petiole). No need to get something similar. Basically I think Atabapoense came in and knocked Billie out of the market.
After watching this video today I went to a local garden center which was in the throes of an after christmas sale. I passed by the christmas items but what did I find in the houseplant section for $24 US but an anthurium forgetii in a 4" pot! You did seriously just say crystalinum are showing up in garden centers. Woo hoo!
Cercestis Mirebilis is my new plant that I'm loving. Hardly any videos about them. Their leaves are big and lovely. Not a philodendron anymore? I guess the price isn't crazy high so that might be why it isn't a bigger deal
I have two large BMFs and when the TCs came out this year, I wasn’t even phased, because I know it will be years before any of them reach mature leaves and most will die to over pampering. 😏
About the philodendron longilobatum, I absolutely am in love with it, but it looks like it would take up a lot of space and that’s why I haven’t gotten it yet. I wonder if that’s the reason. 🤔
I've been watching Your videos for a long time, and every time I saw microsorum thailandicum, I was just "eh... But it's only when we're watching in from certain angle" and I hate that. It's blue, but it really isn't. I don't like color changing philodendrons for similar reasons - why I would want to have something which has only 1-2 leaves looking good, and the rest changed to boring for eternity. Maybe I'm weird, but I want my plants to look good all the time in all the angles of observation 😅 In other case I just feel scammed by plant 😂
I’m just glad I was buying to collect and not sell. The price dropping doesn’t bother me quite as much. I look around at all the 4 digit plants I bought that are now sooooo cheap. I just shake my head. Lol

i kind of wish that microsorum thailandicum is more widely available although it does seem like it is pretty available in southeast asia. I have been wanting that plant for 7 years now but I can never find it anywhere in my country of residence and I am not willing to go through the whole process of trying to ship one from another country.
@@lucyhyde8171 Yes, agreed! It is according to her sales and her sales alone. I'm sure others have their own unique lists as well depending on what area of country you are in at the moment.
What happened with Ilsemanii? I saw them being so expensive here and then they just disappeared and the ones I’ve seen haven’t looked all that spectacular. Did they even ever take off? (I’m in Australia)
ilsemanii is actually an old cultivar, but it is rather hard to grow and propagate, I think that's the reason it never took off. Most of the plants that drop prices quickly are easy to grow and propagate, at least for me (like Florida Beauty, Jose Buono, Whipple Way, Rhaphidophora tetrasperma, all syngoniums etc.) and the ones that I have problems with also keep the higher price for longer (like variegated billie, this thing reverts so easily!). So I would say my experience is consistent with average and ilsemanii is a constant struggle. I do see some big specimens for sale but not really small/medium ones, I think it's similar to melanochrysum, once established it can grow well, but getting it there is tough.
I watch all of your content and enjoy them. You have helped me understand my plants and I look forward to your life updates etc. But please stop saying everything twice, please stop saying everything twice 😊
Is that a new tattoo on your arm?! Or have I been blind this whole time? Snake wrapped rose? 🌹 gorgeous. Oh I so wish you were closer to ship to meee!!! I’d LOVE to see a fakes reaction video!! I need to know!!! I picked my billietiea over a year ago, it’s doing quite well, but I find it boring now. With all the other plants being produced with fabulous fenestrations and variegation I just find it “meh” I enjoy funkier species
This is what I will never understand about you people. 20:0020:0020:00 Why would you throw them away? Just list them for free with another purchase, as a gift. Or do a give away? Or literally anything except throw them away.
How about you turn down the contrast settings in your videos? It's barely watchable. The plants often don't look real either because of the super high contrast. On topic: I don't think Spiritus sancti has a lot of mass appeal because atabapoense looks almost exactly the Same and is much cheaper. Anthurium Delta Force for example is much more interesting because it has very unique features.
I think after seeing the amount of pink princesses reverting & the price drop as they started appearing in big box stores, people just assume the same will happen with strawberry shake
I agree with this. I got my shake from NSE for $55 and it’s beautiful, so I think they’ll keep dropping.
Definitely seeing a down turn in price on shakes in the US. I’m seeing nicer specimens show up though, I feel like.
Man I am so sick of PPP lol. I swear I get one in every “rare”cutting mystery box and freebie node I get 😝

Ooo! Is that a new tattoo? Nice!
I just bought a full Florida beauty mature for 230$!!!!
My red moon has lost the yellow bit and now it behaves like a prince of orange, what is the reason?
it reverted. It's a chimera like florida beauty or monstera albo. Cut it above the last variegated leaf, it might sprout variegated growth back.
We need a mysterious dark boi shirt
My Burle Marx grows insanely slow. I thought people were being dramatic before I got mine.
I watch all of your content and enjoy them. You have helped me understand my plants and I look forward to your life updates etc.
But please stop saying everything twice, please stop saying everything twice 😊
You said that twice 😭
Not me making a wishlist as she presents the worst! Lol
how are the philo black majesty doing?
What is Mysterious Dark Boi? ❤❤❤
I can't find your feed on amazon?
Tattoos, crooked teeth, thick orange layer of make-up, awkward accent? A cure for love!
Philo Strawberry Shake.....my brutal opinion....they look sick or a bit like vomit...never liked them, sorry
Me googleing "dark boi" 😂
Is that a new tattoo on your arm?! Or have I been blind this whole time? Snake wrapped rose? 🌹 gorgeous. Oh I so wish you were closer to ship to meee!!! I’d LOVE to see a fakes reaction video!! I need to know!!!
I picked my billietiea over a year ago, it’s doing quite well, but I find it boring now. With all the other plants being produced with fabulous fenestrations and variegation I just find it “meh” I enjoy funkier species
Sorry to ask…what does “TC” stand for ? Thanks in advance!
Tissue culture, basically a way to clone plants :)
Well here in the US the strawberry shake Isn’t really main stream I think we are all tired of them just like the pink princes
how much does Spiritus sancti cost nowadays?
I saw one online for 70 euro for a three leaved cutting ( rooted).
This is what I will never understand about you people. 20:00 20:00 20:00
Why would you throw them away? Just list them for free with another purchase, as a gift. Or do a give away? Or literally anything except throw them away.
Who's ego is so small that they get bitter when plants become cheaper and more accessible 😂
Do you sell the Delta force seeds? :D
If you self the delta force it won’t produce true delta force sends , it’s a mutation so needs to be a direct clone (through TC or cutting)
H💚USEPLANTS!!!
I'll be keeping my eyes on your shop iv wanted a longilobatum for years. They're soooo sexy 😍
Longoilobatum haven't sold well because it's ugly. Simple!
10:28…growling belly?….gas? Have a snacky gf😜🤗
Why don't you make high quality videos yourself if you think camera settings are just like using your iPhone. Hater.
