I once had a shot at buying the last wendlandii at a shop and a little old lady picked it up as I reached for it. I of course let her take it with a smile on my face, but I’ve regretted that decision for OVER A YEAR. Still haven’t found one in town… Damn you, old lady! 😅
I was lucky enough to find one in a nursery recently, couldn't be happier and can't wait to have some cuttings to share with friends. Absolutely underrated plant
I ordered a scindapsus Platinum in November like a true plant-obsessed bonehead. For future reference, scindapsus do not take chill at all! Poor thing lost every leaf within 48 hours of arrival. The seller gave me a full credit so I can buy another when the weather is better. I just picked up a Wendandii locally for a great price. Will give it a go!
I have hade the wendlandii for a couple of years vining in my paludaria with tropical dartfrogs. Propagates easy there with areal roots. It was on my wishlist because I didn't realize what it was. Only recently discovered and am now growing some in a pot to get a bushier plant and in the living room on a moss pole. Lovely leaves
Wendlandii has been the easiest syngonium I've propagated by far! I had no visible Ariel roots or even nubs for them and 3 weeks in unchanged water and they rooted great!
I purchased a wendlandii online, and it arrived soggy and in terrible condition. I decided to repot it and was only able to save a couple of leaves initially. It immediately started putting out mature trileafs and looks better than the rest of my syngoniums. I love her, get one!!
S.wendlandii has been a fave for two years. They grow so well, I even dropped mine and had to prop the broken bits, so now I have double the plant! Amazing little guy
Wendlandii loses its pretty white center stripe and the leaves get larger and will lobe as it matures, and if it were to climb, the leaves would definitely mature. Keeping it as a hanging plant will help to at least slow its maturation. Most syngoniums will look very different as mature specimens, often losing the colors and shape of the leaves that make them so attractive when they are babies. They are still beautiful, just different. 😊
I'm a "fairly seasoned" indoor gardener but a newbie to your channel! I learned so much from your comprehensive Alocasia guide. I think the Scindapsus "Platinum" is my favourite off of this video!
My syngonium aurea is one of my favorite plants! And I also love my pink splash, it is growing like a weed! If only my green splash had the same properties… that thing is the slowest plant everrrr.
I am truly obsessed with scindapsus. Just. They're so pretty. The leaf shapes, the silver, the TEXTURE, the sort of odd growth habits...ugh, I love them.
2:43 I just had powerdery mildew flash backs. I know it's not PM, what I'm guessing is that leaf isn't getting the nutrients to be as dark green as the lower leaves. Has it been mislabeled by the seller and you got a more expensive varigation? That'd be a score. 😅
It is just a wild guess for the white monster, but does it get the roundabout of twelve hours light per day, it would get on its natural habitat from Mexico to Panama? Although M. deliciosa adjusted to some new habitats far away from the equator like Portugal, evolutionally it is programmed to deal with not much less than 11 hours of daylight, but also about 13 hours of darkness, both beeing equally important. Its metabolism will otherwise not be fully functional. Missing proteines due to partial anabolism or leftover from partial catabolism do influence which parts of the genome get processed and how often. In Veracruz for example, daylight ranges from 10:59 to 13:17. In Panana its 11:37 to 12:37. A strict 12-12 hour cycle is ok, but even seasonal change could trigger important processes. What is most frustrating about all this is, that every factor could potentially work the other way round, as there are suppressing and encouraging factors, and sometimes, the same proteines can do both, depending on their absolute levels and ratios. A well known example for animal metabolism is the testosterone/oestrogene ratio. We all know how little is needed to prevent pregnancy, and what massive changes stronger changes produce. There is much more to tune, like even the neighbours of a plant can have an influence, but from empirical knowledge, proper lighting is the most promising point to start with, when it comes to the expression of unstable variegation.
I think in a Legends of Monstera tour of Kunzo’s greenhouses, Kunzo said each white monster leaf turns out differently. There were many in his collection!
I've been on a hunt for a Wenlandii for the last month since I saw this video. I would like to let you know that I am now the proud plant papa of one, I love it so much :)
It’s interesting to see your white monster! I think it’s one of those plants that is still super “rare” so most of us are curious how it works! Seems like you’re still figuring it out too lol
The Platimun at 20:15 looks exactly like my SP Colombia. And this one is a crawler for sure ! Could there be a climbing and crawling version of the same plant? Or does one plant do both things? My startet with simmilar teardrop shaped leaves and now there are more like the leaves of a pastazanum...
Philo platinum is freaking gorgeous. I LOVE silver plants SO MUCH. that is one thing that I have consistently loved and enjoyed over the years. I finally got my hands on a scindapsus platinum, and I'm beyond stoked
I've seen a r. Tetrasperma compact form at a nursery! So there's a chance one of those could variegate in tc. It was veeey short internodes and quite bushy
I have great success with so many plants. I grow almost all vines and they do really well in my home except scindapsus. I really love them, I love there thick leaves but they just dont thrive for me. I have purchased a few now and the tend to get leggy with small leaves and sometimes the leaves just turn brown and die leaving me with a naked vine. I have tried them in all kinds of sunlight and soils. I keep purchasing the same variety and trying to master it. This summer the ones on my porch getting some direct morning sun but indirect v. bright light have done the best. They didnt grow much but the they did grow bigger leaves. I did find that I have to soak the pot in water for like 10 mins when its really really dry or else the soil wont hold enough water to keep the leaves from curling on me. I wish I could crack the code though. I see them with huge big leaves here on youtube and it just mystifies me as to how its done. Maybe its just too hot here in Spain for them to thrive.
I love Scindapsus and like you struggle with them. You may be on to something about the heat. It gets hotter than blazes here in the summer. Mine do exactly like yours, browning, bare stems, etc .. ;/
I've got a syngonium red spot and I love it I've got it up a Cain at the mo. Need to sort it and trellis it properly. It's the only syngonium I like. X
I keep waffling over the Pink Splash at my local nurseries and just haven't pulled the trigger. They're never expensive, usually 10 USD for a 4in, I just never grab one for some reason. I love them
I went a bit nuts with “rare” plants last year, some of which did not fare well; now when I look at what I have, I realize I must be pretty basic because I prefer my more basic plants. I need to give Syngoniums a go!
Yeyyyy Kaylee is in the house 💚💚💚💚💚i did not like hoyas and now i'm crazy about hoyas 😵💫🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️they are so easy to care are not picky in there condicions
Kunzo always chops the leaves on his white monsters to keep up the varigation! He says that stressing out the plant causes it to get more varigation

Ow god! Colors on your feed come out spectacular! My aurea’s yellow parts are always dying ;/ And yours come almost marble like. And red is sooo deep and saturated. Cant wait to buy this feed! Will it be available to channel supporters early and/or as preorder?
Lol you've just added several more plants to my wish list🤣. The variegated tetrasperma (so cute!), the burle Marx mint, the scindapsus platinum. Loved this video!
I remember wanting a syngonium pink splash back in 2021 but it was well over my budget at $90+ USD. I just checked the current price and they're selling for $25! The plant market is a fickle and strange mistress. 😂
Where are the Alocasia? I haven’t seen it i a while. Maybe a variegated explanation or something like that would be cool. Nebula and Jacklin looks really good
Seconding this! Unfortunately even once it hits the market, I'll still need to wait for when there's more supply than demand so I could get it for cheap. I hope it comes quick since the burle marx is easy to propogate
I never understood, why wendlandii was so popular. Then I found out. The pictures could not make it a justice. In real life, it is stunning, velvety leaves with sparkling silvery vein in the middle. One of my favourites syngoniums.
All of these are great but that tiny tetra sperma is absolutely adorable! Now I need to find out the difference between the wendlandii and the rayii. I have what’s supposed to be a rayii but I guess we’ll see lol
I'm struggling w the color of my P. Platinum. Too much light its bleached, less light its dark. I'm not getting those silvery leaves like the import leaves.
? For Kaylee Ellen, did you ever do a jewel orchid terrarium for yourself? I just got two, going to get more. Your cute stuff, aaaaw.,..😍🥰🥰 I love syngoniums. Plus curious how Ben's picks are doing! That video so so funny. 😂😂

That smol raphidosphora tetrasperma Var is just TOO CUTE 😭❤️ so precious!

Next time barter for a clipping!
I saw today actually someone found them at a grocery store here in the US! Don’t lose hope!
Oh the Rapha! 😍😍 I love just the green version but the variegation on those tiny leaves is lovely.
S.Wendlandii is honestly one of (if not the most) prettiest syngoniums I’ve seen.

The rap tetrasperma was ADORABLE, would buy that for sure if they stayed that way
I agree! That syngonium is heaven
The variegated adansoniis have turned up at some garden centers here in Germany, it’s absolutely wild!
