Just treated myself to this setup - the way the helmet and Sena system are designed to fit was the deal clincher and all works well with my music and Calimoto navigation 👍
Nice. I was looking at the gt air 3 when I last bought, but I went with the neotec 3 instead and the flip up has been super useful. Will definitely be getting the same in a few years. Shame about the colour loss on your old one
I'm with you regarding the ratchet helmet fastener - the LS2 Pioneer Evo that I'm currently using is the first helmet that I've owned that does not have D rings and I really like the ratchet fastener. Can put it on and take it off even with gloves on because of the pull tab release, which you certainly can't do with D rings (or I can't anyway)😉
Hi Liz thank you that was a really useful video I’ve not long bought a new helmet and was wondering what that little bottle of silicon was for. Hope all’s going well for you and you’re making a decent living being self-employed. You certainly look like you’re not regretting it. Keep safe out there. 🤣🤣😂
Great vid and perfect timing as I'm just about to upgrade to the GT Air 3 with Sena. Such a shame your custom helmet faded so quickly 😔. Have you had a matt black helmet before? My GT Air 1 was matt black and it was a mare to keep clean. Recommendation - replace the cheap plastic pinlock pegs you get provided with Shoei visors with the pinlock 3 pegs with a metal screw 👍🏻 (So glad I checked my comment ... pinlock autocorrected to pillock!)
i bought one as my first expensive helmet and tbh i wouldnt get another. i got it custom fitted so it does fit well and the interior is nice. however the chin curtain comes out of place every time i take the helmet off/on, i find the visor button unlock thingy when it is all the way down to be fiddly and hard to operate with thicker gloves. the pinlcok insert is far too small as well, doing a shoulder check where i tend to be looking right to the edge of the visor (where the pinlock doesnt reach to) in the rain/cold, youre basically blind past the pinlock. i find the top vent doesnt really make a difference when its opened/closed as well. im sure many people get on differently with it tho, id love to know what you/others think of it.
This one's very timely, as i'm looking for a replacement for a GT air 2, the most important questions would be How is the wind noise vs the GT Air 2? Sound quality vs the GT Air 2? How fiddly is it to find those buttons in gloves? Looks like this one has them nicely separated, buttons are horrid on the 2
Everyone loves a new helmet day, how many do you own now? I've got four but mainly only wear the same one. I've never tried Shoei, is that your favourite brand? NEC show is coming up and that's when I usually get itchy for a new one.
I’ve got 6 Shoeis (4 GT Airs) and an HJC, but a few of them are just for emergencies, ie, an old GT Air lives in my car boot, HJC is for guests etc. I’ve had Shoeis dor my whole riding life, and only deviated once - their reputation for quality is rivalled only by Arai, they fit incredibly well and offer amazing customer service (my dog ate through my chin strap and I was able to send it for repair) and individual fitting. If you see a style you really like it’s 100% worth trying it out, and NEC is a good place to find last seasons colours particularly this year with new ones just released. Saying that, I am curious about how other brands compare, and the circumstances of my having this new helmet are very different to my usual arrangement, so I’m hoping to get to try new things this/next year 😁
Nice helmet Liz. How is the weight in comparison with your old Shoei? For some riders the useful lock system can be a dealbreaker because for track riding a double D mount is required (at least in the Netherlands). The built in sun visor looks very good and I think you will appreciate this.
To to motorledgends, they will fit the pinlock, change the lads and fit the comms. They will also set the comms up pairing bike and phone, at no extra charge. They also have the custom fit system. Brilliant advice at no extra cost
I did exactly this 2 weeks ago, the guy's and gals at Motorledgends were great, I got my Neotec 3 fitted perfectly along with the pin lock and comm system!
I had a question which you answered at the end,my helmet has a central tab to lift visor up but the gopro gets in the way so it's a lot of work to get it right but it looks like you will have it sussed out.Has Pinky finished having a tantrum yet 😂.
Yay! Glad to help, I didn’t structure this one very well. When I fit my camera stuff I’ll do a quick separate video. I had pinky back for about 50 miles and she’s kicked off again so down to just Svarty at the moment 😂
WOW didnt relise how much thats faded, maybe used cheaper paint and UV protection than the older one . Does having the button and visor tab in the middle cause any issue when the camera is mounted? Never seen someone so happy when a plastic cover came off easy lol
@@R1_Liz I’ve had a bash at doing it my self and the pinlock is in a Scottish hotels bin and I ended up back with the lovely lady at sportsbikeshop at Boston I got a nice cuppa and jacket potato from the van in the car park ☺️ Who knew that a pinlock requires a lady’s tuch
I guess a cardo will fit on in the way they normally do with the sticky/clip attachment and the channels and cut outs in the helmet will probably accept other set ups, it’s still nice to have an option for an integrated one too
No no, I got my GT air 3 a whole year ago, end of September 2023, in Denmark tho. I know they got it in Germany as well a year ago so ‘new’ it’s not anymore
Maybe time has flown and in my head it’s still a new update despite being old. Now you mention it, I think the GT Air III was announced immediately after I received my last II, I remember being a little annoyed 😅 and that was over a year ago…
@@R1_Liz hahaha I would have been the same. Never the less I have been so happy for it this whole season. I think they releases them differently in different countries. I’m in Denmark and I know Germany got them as the same time we did
So how has the fit been compared to the air 2? I’m not really seeing great color combinations that I like much, but no big. Really thought the latch was stupid, but then realized it was me, after having it for one day. Got two of them (air 2), plus a first gen. That one sits by itself. Nice vid. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
I think wearing black was not good for me because my cold weather pants are black and so is my leather jacket. Black motorcycles and black cloths to "LOOK COOL SEEMS" silly to me. I went with WHITE helmet with new my red GSX-S 1000GT. See me please, please see me you idiot drivers. Confused about the grey plastic peice in the bag. Getting used to the rachet but have not figured out how to secure the hemet to the bike.
Nice helmet but at £560 designed for rich people, I have just bought a new helmet myself a spada orion 2 allure flip for £118, fantastic reviews on it ,tested to the highest standards, and in my price range, and that's double the price of my last helmet i bought 2 years ago, Having said that shoei helmets are great, and I have had a shoei a number of years ago and it was the dearest helmet I have owned, I'm sure i will be pleased with the new spada. Take care, Best wishes Roy 😊👍.

Good video pulling the red tabs just releases the inner pads then you just pop them back in ! All is fine ❤x

Great Video & looks a great helmet good job , A Stunning lady ❤️👏👏👍

Ye - FIRST you install the pin-lock THEN you remove protection from the visor ☝☝😀

you could warm it up with your hear dryer just to get it going 🤗
I had a shoei RYD in matt black ' I think matt black is pretty cool 😎

I have slight helmet envy, but given enough disposable income I would probably collect helmets.
Well, yes, if you had gone for SCHUBERTH ( c5 ) - all is pre-installed. No need to dig in cables.....
Maybe I’ll try a Schuberth next 😁 there’s a few brands I’m tempted by and the Schuberth reputation is one I’d like to experience
I get the nice lady at Boston sportsbikeshop to sort my pinlocks out she’s very good saves all the trouble.
I’m normally quite smooth at them but I’ve lost my finesse today 😅 quite a satisfying task to do yourself - next time have a go!

Noice!
Cardo is superior. Best comms on the market by far.
Dislike the fact shoei has a sena tie up.
