- This past weekend, me, my sister Katrina, and her boyfriend Andrew, hiked 40 miles on the Rogue River Trail in Oregon. We laughed, we suffered, and we even had a bear(s) steal away our food in the middle of the night. This is a video of the journey.

The hike through the parking lot and out of sight of the cars always seems like the longest part of the walk

Wow! The bear bags were demolished…thank you for showing that. I’ve never seen that before.Glad it all worked out and there were angels (kind hikers) to help out🌸
Glad that the Bears decided to eat what was inside the Bear Bags, and the not the campers inside the flimsy tents!
Another good reason for dunking fully clothed into the river was all that poison oak residue on the outside of your clothing is probably all over the inside of your tent and sleeping bag if you slept in your clothes or waited to remove you outer layers until you got IN your tent. Should have dunked in the river or rinsed your outer layer upon reaching the first camp site.

That's trail magic. When you lose everything, somehow, someway the trail gods bless you with that little extra something. Happens on every long journey and really lets you know that people might not be as shitty as one might make them out to be.

We took a flat bottom boat ride out of Brookings Oregon in 1983 up the Rogue River. So much wildlife....Got off way up river for lunch. Arrived back down river at dusk. Everyone was cold and issued a blanket. Was cold heading back to the Ocean. Very fun and full of wild life at every bend in the river..🤗

I really enjoyed this video. I wish I wasn't scared to go on hikes alone or camping alone, seems like fun. I used to go a few times with family when I was younger.
If you’re ever up closer to Portland, you’ve got a check out Silver Falls State Park! Hands-down one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on. I think it has about 8 to 10 waterfalls total and it’s only about a 6 mile hike. I think you’d really like it! 🙌🙌

U need to carry a bear cannister. They are made by Garcia Machine here in the Tulare/Visalia Ca area. I have delivered and picked up from them while working for UPS for almost 30 years. It’s a Great product .

You needed to have your food in a higher branch. Some bears can reach a dangling bag from 10-12 feet. ( the bears in my area can )

The Rogue river is definitely beautiful!🌄I would cover up from head to toe too, if I didn't want an encounter with ticks, spiders🕷, and/or Poison Ivy! The Ursack is meant to be used w that aluminum insert to be most effective which I know can be a pain, but it mostly prevents your food from being somewhat crushed. Glad you had ppl looking out for you guys. Happy birthday 🎂🥳🎉
