I have a tuf a14 and MSI 14, On MSI Cyborg 14 you can literally install a bios on the 4060 increasing the power limit from 45W to 75W, it seriously changes the performance and stays cool properly.
@@vallen000 Do you need a better charger for it though? The charger it comes with is only 130w which I doubt can handle both the CPU and GPU at that new wattage
I have the 4080 model as well. and you will absolutely love it. Did you get the black or white version. Both look incredible. Best thing and light laptop, with a stunning display and best speakers I’ve ever heard on a laptop.
@@kaiichinose9590 I got the black version! The white version looks very nice and sleek too but I wanted to go for a more subtle look. The speakers and the display are my favorite things about the laptop, it's my first laptop and it's exceeding my expectations.

I like to think of the 45 watt 4060 as a normal 4050 with upgraded vram with minor features included. I think the housing of the MSI couldve handled an 80 watt 4060 if they allowed it
While I would prefer to avoid any 13th and 14th gen Intel CPU and the 4060 is restrained, I think I would still prefer the MSI laptop. Reasons: Upgradable RAM. Anything less is unacceptable unless perhaps the laptop comes with 64GB of RAM. Lower temps. If the Asus reaches about 90C with such cold weather (I assume you are in Europe), how much is it going to get during the summer? The looks. What are the chances of Burned in, in g14 and g16 and how to prevent it as I'm thinking of getting one of these but cause of burned in i am reconsidering and thinking of getting lenovo slim 7i
Hmm the new one should release next month, but that'll probably be quite a bit more expensive than the current G14 is. So it depends on how quickly you need it :)
Hi bud hope you well, would you recommed the g14 with rtx 4060 and 16GB ram ? that is all thats available at my local stores, i am going to be using it for mostly productivity and light gaming, the monitor i just boughy is the asus pg34wcdm so was wondering if the 16gb version of the g14 will run smoothly at 1440p playing games such as gta 5, forza motorsport etc etc, your feedback will be highly appricated ....
At 1440p the 4060 and 16gb will be fine, but dont expect it to be able to handle the highest settings. Some newer games demand more than 16GB, but for now it's enough :)
@@crimsontechyt okay cool thanks man they have the g16 here with 32gb and rtx4070 but its abit to big for my desk.... the other option is to wait and see what they launch at CES lol
Do you have any tips on bringing CPU temps down on the 4070 G14? Mine is consistently spiking into the 90C and no amount of fan tweaking seems to get it to stop the spikes from happening. Would appreciate any help :)
Try using a laptop stand with a pocket fan underneath, It works on my g16 sitting around 75-81 degrees when playing rdr2 or just straight ahead buy llano laptop cooling pad
Thanks for the replies! I've got it lifted and on a cooling pad, so it averages around 75 degrees under heavy load, it was just the spikes I don't like seeing and was worried about :)
yo Crimson (or anyone who owns 2024), I have one question - it seems like there's an electrical tape (or something that looks like it) in the middle instead of hinges - is it normal or did they rip me off and its refurbished? thanks a lot
Thank you! :) If you mean the little black part in the middle of the hinge, that's the display ribbon cable, which connects the screen with the rest of the laptop. This should be flush and flat though, and shouldn't "stick out"
@@crimsontechyt the piece had a little bit of the tape even on the change of surface (dunno how to describe it, theres a little L shift in front of the keyboard) - i meant those two "hinge" lookalikes in the middle of the screen... (im now seeing some images on the internet and it seems like they have the same shiny and rough texture (cant send links here) which, again, looks like some kind of tape, never wouldve thought a cable connecting the display would be visible in any way) thanks tho, I might get it again and if something breaks earlier, even better, still have the 2yr warranty from what boss said (i have part time job there so ez)
Looking at it with G16 4080 and I'm a little jealous because I was ready to pay at least 400$ for g16 with ryzen and 4080, but Asus limited to 4070 :( Overall, the Core Ultra 9 isn't bad, but I got a processor that can't handle large crowds in Stalker 2, and that makes me a little sad because if I had a 4080 with Ryzen instead of Intel, I think it would be much better.
The Intel version with 4060 gets only 45W to CPU because the Intel CPU is very power hungry and easily overwhelms the cheap laptop's cooling system. If they wanted to make a good budget laptop, they should have gone with an efficient Ryzen CPU, so the GPU would get enough power for gaming performance.
