The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
As I've only been fishing carp dominated waters the last few years, natural venues for the previous forty years lol, it has been a steep learning curve using the commercial fishery methods and I must say pellet waggler fishing has given me great joy. These uploads are a great help...thanks Jon and of course Matrix.
Those dumpty waggs are my go to now, even when it's a little breezy. With a little practice they can be spot on accurate on the cast and the bolt effect / self hooking capabilities as a consequence of them being slightly more buoyant is a real bonus. I miss far less fish on the strike now because they're already hooked. I had 269lb out of lake 4 on the Glebe with these floats and bomb n pellet under...absolutely lethal...Andy Findlay was stood behind me just wondering! Great video as usual Jon...keep 'em coming!!
@@meltonboroughcouncilaresht4292 I'm also a great fan of the dumpty type float. I have being using home brew floats made from 21watt car indicator bulbs for years but they are a tad heavy at 10 grams but you can get them to land pretty quietly. I do genuinely believe the less noise you make with your float the better it is.
I have had a great summer fishing the pellet waggler my favorite method for bagging thanks jon and matrix for posting lot's of great tips to follow the horizon sinking line is awesome, para
Absolutely fantastic video i have had a great summer fishing the pellet waggler my favorite method love the pellet waggler thanks jon and matrix for posting jon i thought you would have used your casper wagglers.Para
On my local fishery the takes on the PW are so much more aggresive and that first run so explosive it really is the best way to fish . still loving the dumpy wagglers ( thank you Jon ) , I only use the conventional types now in deeper water and if the fish are deeper
hi jon , great informative vid, can you tell me, do you place any shot on the line when using a loaded pellet waggler, a dropper shot maybe close to hook length
Hello. Very nice video , i learned a lot from it. although i do have a question that you didn't mention about. What is the proper way of fishing a pellet waggler , with sinking feed pellets or floating feed pellets ? And what to i do when i kept casting in a couple of places over and over for about 2 hours but didn't catch a fish? Thank you, and keep it up.
Always great tips from you Jon, Love your vid's, Love the matrix line strong but thin, Please tell me what landing net handle you were using looked solid after a new one Cheers mate.
I am getting confused with all these pellet waggler videos. Has know one worked out paste on the waggler shallow? Seems my old tactics have got to hard for the new anglers. Please can u make a video of paste shallow long on the rod. If u no how.
Jon, do you not recommend a slightly lighter weight hook length so if you get snapped off the fish doesn’t end up trailing a float and many yards of line around with it. Thanks for all the top info in your videos.
Looking at the dislikes why not just turn to the next video , as this guys knowledge properly shit all over yours this guy is up there with the top boys👌
Ok Jon cracking video l have been trying to get on your website l watched you on another video you were using some small floats they were white 3oz 4oz 5oz 6oz would like to order some my mate

I would be careful using a course reel in the sea due to salt corrosion. That power gearing has got to come from somewhere.

Same size but hook length that's slightly thinner or same size will always fail before main line .
Hi if you were to have one rod horizon carp wag .horizon 11 or the 12wag.
Your hooklength, do you use loop to loop or a swivel.
Loop to loop
