Good video Jon, as always, I had a day like this but with dead maggots and ground bait. Spent half a day drying out bread in the oven and liquidizing it, toasted up some hemp, ground it up and added that too. Savage day though. The only problem....mosquitoes by the thousand, ran out of bug spray!
Nice to see you back fish hope your feeling good would be better to see you back doing what you do best match fishing and winning, wish you and the family all the best for the future
Such a great lake for that method, very few snags , so you can let them run and run. Despite being a huge body of water it's not tremendously deep. Fantastic fishing Jon! Its 10miles from me as well so local!
Obviously thought the Waggler was a Roach. Good little session. Shows how the wind can play a big part in the catching of the Carp. What was the Peg number you fished from. It looked like it was in the 60's or low 70's. Cheers Jon.
Often wonder if its worthwhile targetting the roach on tough days at places like barston , meadowlands ect, on waggler, ever tried it in a match?, great vid as always👍
Absolutely in harder areas. Skimmers at Barston and roach at Boddington. You could do 50lb of them on the right day. Depends what the framing weights are going to be as two or three carp at Boddington would wipe out 5 hours of roach!
You add a small squirt of washing up liquid to it for when your feeder fishing or on the bomb, cast out then place rod on it so your line passes through it and wind in then your line sinks perfectly. 💯👌👍.
Another, as always, captivating, enjoyable video John. I picked up a few tips from it, although I’ve never fished Bodington, I’m sure it applies to most pellet waggler fishing. Just one question, if you’d be so kind to explain? What’s the idea of using a stronger hook length than your mainliner? I’ve always thought using the same, or slightly lighter was the norm? Cheers🎣
It's a good question, but I just want the extra durability and reassurance of the 0.23, which is a different material to the reel line. I simply couldn't cast a thicker reel line and maintain presentation unless I compensated with a much bigger waggler.
Great vid as always Jon. Can I ask why you use 0.23 hook length, could you go striaght though with 0.20 mainline? less knots. Also I know its a very active method, as static/hanging hook bait is bad(?) but zig rigs are similar right, just bottom to top not top-bottom, if you catch me..... Take care dude, JB
Id never fish direct at Boddington or carp waggler fishing as if I get a breakage I want to just lose the hook length, not the entire rig. Pellet wags are not cheap and retackling up the whole lot is time consuming. Agreed with the zigs. Its something Ive toyed with on and off and there must be some mileage in it...
Great vid. Can you please confirm what main line you use for PW? It's just that when I searched for horizon mono it was marketed as "Ultra-fast sinking monofilament"
Yes, but as I said in the film I personally don't see it as a sinking mono, more a neutral one. I use the dark brown Matrix XD Mono for sinking feeder work more these days.
I was watching your casting john. You weren't trapping the line on the cast to make the pellet land further than the float to get a natural fall just saying.your good dangler, but felt you should of been trapping the line just before the float hit the water
I ALWAYS trap and feather the line, so it must not have been so clear to see. If you don't, the float will obviously crash in like a bag of spanners, plunge too deep and most likely tangle. The only time I don't trap the line is fishing to a line clip, which you'd never ever do at Boddington. Sorry if that was difficult for you to see.

Oh dear! Mozzies never ever seem to bite me much but they love my wife!
Another great video John well done for all your fantastic tutorials
Glad you like them!
Wow the fishing at Bodington is brilliant, imagine catching your fill of carp and a netball of Roach on wagg thanks Jon 😊
Cheers Melvyn
Keep up the amazing work. Another great watch Jon.
Much appreciated!
Never been there but it looks very nice.
Excellent bit of tuition John and great to see you on the bank enjoying yourself 😊

Nice video Jon. Beautiful to watch. 30 Minutes, for me is just about the right time.
Glad you enjoyed it

Yes only 30 min from me and I don't fish it enough really. Not strong enough! 👍
Absolutely fantastic film, really enjoyed it. Just watched one of your thames festivals from a few years ago. Good luck in next match.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's a tough job Jon.... but someone's got to do it! 🎣😂

Great video as always Jon. You looked like you really enjoyed that session and certainly had plenty of carp on a tactic I haven't tried in years👍
Thanks for watching
Great video as always Jon . Keep em coming 👍
Thanks for watching
Nice one Jon 👍👍
Cheers Ste
Cheers for another entertaining video
No worries
That pike was crazy but they can get very territorial at this time of year like you said.
pesky pike!
Nice video Jon, cracking fish
Thanks for watching

Yes peg 71 or 72 I think. 80-100 had a match on.

lovely fishing

Great video, Jon, and a good day's fishing. Please could you explain the small piece of foam taped to your bump bar? Thanks.
You add a small squirt of washing up liquid to it for when your feeder fishing or on the bomb, cast out then place rod on it so your line passes through it and wind in then your line sinks perfectly. 💯👌👍.
It's just an old sponge that I sometimes add washing up liquid to help degrease the line if I want it to sink.

@@JonArthurAh, right, I understand that now. Thank You for taking the time to answer, & I’ll give that a try.👌🏻🎣
Hi jon how do you deal with line twist when playing fish on the clutch....!?!?. Great vlog keep em coming.
Thanks Baz, its not something I suffer with too much, but just try not to wind in at the same time as when a fish is taking line
Some proper zoo creatures there Jon!
Yep, bit special at Boddington!

Brilliant session there Jon, love pellet Waggler fishing it's great fun coz you can get some big lumps like you did, Thank you,
Thanks for watching James
Interesting to watch.
Thanks for watching
That Pike! Never where you want them are they haha. You could be lure fishing for months in October and not find one 😂
Agreed! :-)
Brilliant video Jon, loved it
Thanks Colin
nice lake, nice wether, but it is so far to check by eyes.
Thanks for watching

It will sink if you want it, but (as Jon said) it was new on the reel so hadn't had a chance to take on water which would help it sink.
Yes, but as I said in the film I personally don't see it as a sinking mono, more a neutral one. I use the dark brown Matrix XD Mono for sinking feeder work more these days.
How is the float now ? lots of toothy critter bites showing
The float was amazingly unscathed!
Why the foam on your spray bar.
To add detergent to when I need the line to sink
Mint
Thanks for watching
Although I'm very near Boddington I find it quite intimidating......& be careful Jon, you don't want anything grabbing yer waggler in public view!
Absolutely! :-)
Big bags of roach coming out at the moment, 50lb on Saturday. 👍
I can imagine. It's teeming with silvers close in

got to be worth a roach session on there i bet it holds some monsters,.
Yes walked by some huge shoals of perch on the way back too
Afternoon Jon, can I volunteer to be a camera man for you ?!! I get plenty of time off from work !!!!
Thanks Jeff, maybe one day. Id certainly need a cameraman for a river float cam!
Great video Jon but get back match fishing
I will pop a live match up soon
catching carp in matches/pleasure beats the F1 rubbish what commercials are all about now.
I don't think that's what they are all about, but its certainly where the most publicity currently is I guess
