F1 VEGAS: FULL TRACK Walking Tour (3 WEEKS OUT FROM RACE DAY)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 жов 2023
- We'll take a track walk around the entire circuit as transforming the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding roads into F1 continues and the race commences for the second time in 2024. This is 3 weeks away from race day (21 days) and it looks like there's still a bit of work to do. Crews are working around the clock to bring this world-class track to life in Sin City. Permanent pits and the rest of the temporary structures to bring in hundreds of thousands for race weekend on November 21-23, and a look at the Sphere area, the public roadways, and purpose-built portions.
A bunch of infrastructure and seating is already in place with more to come as this F1 track is integrated into the middle of Las Vegas. Unbelievable. #F1LasVegas #Construction #LasVegasF1Track

F1 Vegas Update and Walking Tour. Take a walk around the track with me.
It's amazing how far F1 has come in the US in the last few years. Taking over the whole of central Vegas would have been inconceivable just a few years ago.
That was a great video! Thank you for doing it.
Brings back great memories, thx for posting. Pura vida !
Thanks for the tour! 👌👍✌
Local here. Just walked the entire course, except the south section at The Sphere (cars only, no peds) and the start/finish area (only authorized staff/workers).
SPECTACULAR!!!
I also drive down the strip late last night.
To quote Auto Week..."One piece art! One piece science! One piece magic"!
I agree with Auto Week.
Bring a local, we have been in the middle of a horrible traffic nightmare and changing traffic patterns, etc...since the summer months.
Lots of fed-up locals, particularly those that work the Strip and those that are drivers.
But, I have a feeling those same people, would agree after a walk around the circuit, particularly at night, would admit...it is spectacular!!!!
Is it gonna be easy to cross from one side of t mobile to the other? I didn’t see any bridges in this video
Thankyou for walking the track. I'm thinking that the local community are not to happy with all the upheaval and disruption. But us fans are looking forward to seeing this new circuit. Mindblowing construction going on here especially building temporary elevated roads to keep Vegas traffic moving.
Speak for yourself, no F1 fan I know of wants a race in Las Vegas.
@DaHitch what about you take your own advice and speak for yourself. I wish I could be there in person
@@siphiweparker6178 You may be confused. I did speak for myself, and those who related their opinion to me in person.
Unlike OP however, I did not make a blanket statement.
But let's be honest, everything points to the Las Vegas GP to be the Miami GP on steroids, and no one I know even remotely likes that one either.
@@DaHitch im definitely looking forward to it, and many who want the sport to be promoted are looking forward to it as well
@@DaHitch Yes F1 fans dont need pretty lights and distraction and Hollywood on the Grid. I agree with you.
Its about designed circuits for cars, not a temporary car park. Like the last Las Vegas track it will not become a classic circuit, when the money and hype dries up!
Nice vídeo!
LOVE THE PICTURE QUALITY OF THIS VIDEO! May I kindly ask what phone/camera you shot this with??? Thank you!
Minute 3:30. I could recognize a familiar sound of music, “Musica llanera” from my country Venezuela. What a nice to hear it! I couldn’t help it to feel some proud of it
Damn the amount of work and money is mind-blowing
It gonna be Exciting, the city will make good money
Thanks for this video. This gives me a great idea about how the track looks from the ground. From your perspective what seemed to be the best viewing areas? Which grandstands seem to be closest to the track? are there any general admission viewing areas anywhere? They could have made this an awesome Spectators Track by having it open all the way around for GA viewing but of course they didn't do that because they want more money and we allow people to be so rich that some can afford it!
I don’t believe any other street circuits are this disruptive to their host cities. Don’t see how this really helps Las Vegas.
Both Long Beach and Monaco do this so often they have all the parts stored and can put up and disassemble in under 2 weeks with minimal disruption. The first 2 times are the worse.
@@robertthurman9866 yeah i'ts gonna be better for vegas once they got the first 2-3 races done, after that it will take less time to install. still believe it's gonna take longer than for monaco and long beach with the traffic bridges.
you are joking me? i can list billion dollar investments that doesn't help las vegas. At least the public roads are finally smooth and fixed. It's once a year, don't you worry about it.
NASCAR ran a race in downtown Chicago this year but it was no where near as disruptive. The good news is after they do all this once the following years will be quicker and easier to setup once they get the process down.
@@TracksideViews I completely agree. For sure this year was disruptive and everyone kinda expected it to be because we never had this type of closure in the streets of downtown but I can see how it could be put up and taken down far more easily in the upcoming years. If you actually drive west to Roosevelt Street and in front of the Roosevelt Collection near the intersection of Clark St, they are storing all of the barriers in the unused streets which is real close to where the actual race takes place. I can see Formula one storing the unused barriers or anything else where the pit building is or around it while it is not race weekend.
This is what I needed. Thank you.
It would make a lot of more sense to build a brand new track on the outside of the city, there is plenty of empty land for it, and still at a very short distance from all point of the city. That way all residents and businesses would be ok with it. But the way this is affecting the people and city in general is a crime. So many months before the race, and then after the race, and then the next year again, and the next, and the next, and the next, it makes no sense from the urban point of view. I'm telling you, some politicians are getting a lot richer from this.
Makes sense, similar to Austin and COTA.
What about residents? Las Vegas is not for residents, it's about entertainment, extravaganza, money, shows, gambling, drinking and sports. Residents should always be a second thought when it comes to Las Vegas
I'm so excited for this race, city circuits are my favorite races to watch, and watching those cars fly down the strip is gonna be iconic
Why are you excited? If you paid to watch them. You will see a car flash every other minute.
Nice fake account.
This was extremely useful, I was wondering what the t-mobile section looked like... can't wait for the 18th.. gonna be amazing to watch
Definitely looks like one of the best areas to watch from.
Ty
We can hardly wait for the RACE! Gonna be amazing. Racing Vegas at night will be like nothing else!
would one be able to do this walk aroudn teh track the days of the race or is there not sidewalk in some area?
Do they actually believe this will be all finished up by 1 week prior to race week (12 days from now)? Blows my mind on the amount of $ and disruption this has brought to Vegas, hope it works out but as a long time F1 fan the track layout truly does not inspire for an existing race
I am a local. Fri/Sat night walked the circuit. They had all the course light on, testing the lighting, etc... Friday night I drove 3/4 of the course from Sands (Sphere),Strip to Harmon, tast down Harmon to Koval (Pits/grandstand/paddock) are.
Everything looks complete. Lots of cargo type containers in the paddock area's and people putting things in there proper spot.
Just last minute tidying up and that should be it. At least that is what looks from my POV.
The circuit looks spectacular!!!
So much mess for a 2 hour race that could have been done off the strip. What a disaster for the locals.
would not be only two hours thow.
Its Thursday 2 Free Practises, Friday Free Practise and Quali and Saturday Race…. It’s not only 2 hrs racing….remember
Liked.
Thank you for sharing…. I don’t see how this makes any sense at all for Las Vegas or F1 …
Watkins Glen or Road America come to mind ..
Great memories in gp2 2009.
Counting down the days till I get there. Going to be crazy. I'm sure that's something that we all can agree with.
I can agree that I can’t wait til it’s over. This shit has made for a traffic nightmare all through the valley for the better part of a year now. So, hurry the hell up n get here will ya so it can be over with.
For real it’s been a nightmare, but in all seriousness, I hope you have a time to forever remember. 23’ Vegas F1! Have fun my friend.
We've received an invitation from a major IT company. Originally, we had tickets for the Miami GP, but they asked if we'd be willing to switch to LV instead. I inquired if we could then extend our trip and turn it into a hybrid vacation. They agreed, so we'll be arriving on Tuesday the 14th and departing on Friday the 24th. My girlfriend wants to attend various events in different casinos. Everything is covered, except for the shows we plan to see ourselves. Since we don't have to worry about travel expenses (we're coming from the DC area) or the hotel (which includes breakfast and dinner, though oddly not lunch), I have a wallet full of greens just waiting to be spent ;-)
@@2Fast4Mellow awesome. Lucky you. After watching the Brazil race today. The Vegas race should be an amazing battle. Max might still win it but manufacturers and drivers championship behind him is still and million for those points.
@@2Fast4Mellow Welcome to Vegas, enjoy your trip. Keep in mind there will be a number of things you may not be able to see or do, due to the F1 set up.
The potential that the F1 race in Las Vegas has is enormous, no one knows that yet.
Perhaps the sacred racing asphalt that we will still be talking about in 50 years' time or the most expensive flop ever.
In any case, I'm looking forward to what's to come next week.
How long will it take for strip to go back to normal?
.
When the race is going on, will you be able to walk around and see it or are they gonna block it all off from public?
no
NO you will see nothing unless you can fly lol
there is really not a lot of time left. What I am wondering about is where are the big barriers to prevent cars that spin out from hitting into the non-paved side or into the grandstands? I looked at some footage of other F1 races, and they have large wide barriers filled with tires and big board covered fences in between the race, track side and the grandstand. So far all I see is very small barriers, and fences, if there is something there at all. Are they going to add all those tires and extra walls in the next two weeks? I don't see easy ways for people to walk from casinos over to some of these grandstands, So I imagine the casinos will not be doing a very big business during the hours right before, and during, and after the races, and their trial runs. does each grandstand have areas for bathrooms? Are there areas for emergency vehicles to come in right close to the seats? I am sure some people are going to be tripping and falling on these stands. The whole thing makes no sense to me with such a large time for set up and tear down. Ruining the Las Vegas strip experience for at least three months of the year also makes no sense. Will the F1 really bring in more money than normal for this time of year, including all the expenses.? I have yet to see a good breakdown of who pays for what. do businesses that are losing customers because they're blocked getting some sort of extra compensation? The whole thing confuses me, and I do not expect to visit the strip for these three months...
Those barriers will be build and placed these 2 weeks. That’s a well organised system
I am wondering now whether I want to do a day trip off of the strip because of the traffic concerns. It would be a shuttle bringing me to and from the hotel so I won't be driving. But I don't want to have the stress of sitting in traffic both ways and having less of a chance to see the sights that actually paid for.
Come very early
This is amazing I can't believe its all coming together so beautifully
So beautifully like ripping out all the greenery, blocking the fountains, putting up barriers so people can't see over blocking hotel views with ugly barriers.
Are the bridges being covered for safety? Or to prevent people from catching a "free" view of things?
I noticed hotel costs have plummeted to almost reasonable levels for hotels on the strip. Rooms what used to cost $1500 to $2K a night during race weekend are down to a more reasonable $200-$400 a night. I wonder how much race tix will be going for leading up to the race?
it's still $1k + for tickets.
The building of the track has impacted locals working on the strip and some businesses whose business is down 50% since construction began. We'll see long term how it impacts the city, but short term has been a big pain in the ASS.
Its absurd is what it is.
Comparing this to the Huntington Beach Airshow which I watched from the Bungalow and they Closed off 4 miles of Beach to ticket holders only. This must be annoying as F and they have to take it down an put it back up next year.
How much is all the infrastructure costing??
at around the 8:21 mark does any of that area look like people can watch without paying to get in. Im trying to be in Vegas that weekend. And I saw the prices, they charging way too much.
Without a hotel room overlooking the track I doubt you see it "free" from anywhere. They'll likely have more checkpoints where tickets need to be scanned to even be on that sidewalk where I'm walking at that point.
The casinos won't be closed so there's going to be some areas close to the track where people need to walk, areas where you can walk by the track or over it, but there will likely be workers moving you along quickly, and blocked views.
Go to Practice 1 and scope it out.
I'm guessing, but the best bet might be a bar a block+ away from the track if you're looking to actually follow what's going on in the race, a side road where you'll at least hear the cars, and can possibly watch on a TV.
But then I've also heard they're charging bars high rates to even air the race locally. It's so hard to say. Maybe General Admission tickets will drop the week-of.
What an accomplishment. We should thank every person that contributed to this.
sure...screw up vegas, so politicians can line their pockets
Does anyone know why the view is sorta blocked off from above those footbridges?
So people don’t stop and watch the race.
Will this be permanent? Meaning will the strip be open to drive through like before after this race is over?
It is supposed to be back to normal in December. The only permanent building is the pits
wish you would have named streets
its funny, how formula 1 talks about being more sustainable, using less tires and so on and then they went from texas to mexico to brazil back to las vegas...
They have 14 days to finish alllllllllll this before the race?
You get the feeling they won’t be done in time too huh? They still have to hire the employees to cater for the event too. Like the bartenders, cooks, servers, event staff. They all gotta learn the work areas and know their way around.
The majority of the track seems to be around the backend of some buildings, and the rest is blocking things like the fountains, why even bother going to Las Vegas if you can't see it fro. the track.
Monaco coming to Vegas Sunset drag Strip
Im a big F1 fan i must of watched every race since the 90's and this is the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen it's so distruptive and has destroyed vegas for the last year or so and now it's here it looks great but the locals that live here must absolutely hate F1 and anything releated to it forever after this i feel bad it's come to this i just don't get why they didn't build it down the road in a empty lot. Whats next a new york race in times square.
During COVID shutdown the streets were in dire needs of repairs pot holes uneven melted asphalt ect! I said then why doesn’t Las Vegas get the streets done while it’s a ghost town and nobody their‼️now that everyone is back they decided to build part of that road ‼️if LV gets anything from this return is a nice one side of the street new pave graded road‼️🚧and 1.3 billion to their local economy ‼️🏎️
The biggest con ever with these things is how it benefits the economy. Sure, big corp benefits but what about the people that live here? Don't speak on that unless you know what goes on beyond the curtain hiding the reality of LV.
It’s amazing they can run SEMA while preparing for the this race.
Why not build a track circuit in Vegas?
It was defeat the purpose of racing along "the strip" which is the only reason Vegas is considered.
I was in LV for the AAPEX- SEMA convention last week and walked this same track route.
The layout may appear to be exciting, but it won’t be if you paid for a seat.
Turns 5, 12, and 14, 15, 16 are where passing can take place and NONE of these corners has seating for fans.
Locals have said construction has been going on since March!!! They have NO idea how 1,000’s of workers will get to their jobs during RACE weekend.
The best place to watch this race will be your living room.
People who paid up $1,000’s even tens of thousands for seats, suites will be disappointed.
Let’s see in 2 - 3 years how demand and prices hold up. I predict the current ticket and room prices will drop like a rock.
Exciting venue. Boring track = boring race.
What’s the over under on red flags 🚩?
I’ll take the over.
Where are the fan zones ?
This is what pisses me off. There aren't any. They could have easily designed this so that you could walk around the whole track and watch it from every turn standing room only general admission and maybe pay for a relatively cheap general admission ticket to do that.... but nooooo! they're just a bunch of money Grubbers who just wanted to maximize how much they could make and they know how many rich people there are so that's who gets to see the race.
Massive improvement compared to the Parking Lot Fiasco (i.e. Caesars Palace
Grand Prix) which Alan Jones competed in 1981.
Viva Viva Las Vegasssssss
Them potholes are incredibly dangerous!!!
😎👍
Las Vegas County is seriously shooting itself in the foot with the number of sports related events they're piling up. This bubble is eventually gonna burst when the out-of-town visitors get exhausted of attending sports events out in the middle of the desert. There should be a west coast grand prix, on top of the East coast grand Prix (Miami) and the United States grand prix in Austin.
💪😎👍
Weird video see no race track at all strange they go to Vegas when you have a lot of free circuits in europe
This type of track are killing formula 1 slowly very slowly. What a shame.
People who live and work in Vegas aren't happy about this at all. They say F1 is ripping trees out of the ground, and blocking off all kinds of stuff.
50 laps 2hrs of racing for the months of headaches for locals who work there and tourists is not worth it at all and hopefully the city listens to people and adjusts accordingly. Also this race has no impact on the championship because thats already been decided which should tell you who will win this race like most of the others.
That's called mclaren the II.
All i see is long straights on the track . I wont be suprised if Max lapped half of the grid cone race day
All they do is build on that place who'd want to go there
Just don't get why we need to half rebuild Las Vegas (every year for 3 months) when there are so many other great race circuits in the world and even in the US. It's ruined Las Vega for anyone not interested in F1. Plus doubt it will be a good race anyway. This is turning F1 into Disney.
agree 100%.. and there's no way this is cost effective either, less ppl are tuning in to F1 atm
I hope, pray, beg, plead, this isn’t gonna be “rebuild Vegas” every year. This whole “3 months” outta the year has been an ongoing headache & traffic nightmare since what, April/May of this year? …I swear this city has brought in every damn orange cone/barrel from here to at least the mighty Mississippi. Every damn road has BS going on. Everyday there’s new changes, lanes come to an end when the day before shit was clear.
I avg. about 75+/- city miles every day here driving (many times I’ll do over 100mi. in a day) criss crossing the valley for my job & I know many others have to feel similar as I do when it feels like its you in a crusade vs. these idiot California plates vs. the rent-a-car tourists who dunno where the FK their going, what they’re doing, pick a Fkn LANE! Thx for NOT using your FKN BLINKER! Oh & please, make sure to NOT let anyone merge so you can be wherever YOURE going ONE WHOLE SECOND SOONER! By GAWWD! Oh yea, & then there’s the endless usage of FKN ORANGE CONES FKN E V E R Y T H I N G UP EVEN MORE! FFFFAAAWWWKKKK!!¡¡!!
You're right on. Hade made plans early Sept. to visit Vegas for the first time from Oct.18-23 Started watching UA-cam videos and when we saw all the disruptions we cancelled our plans - and I'm a BIG F1 fan - just not in Vegas.
I now know not to visit in oct and nov and probably dec (for deconstruction). Why would I want to walk thru a construction zone.
Vegas needs money. Period
3:40 "taaake, these broken wings!!!"
What a crap layout. But my biggest concern is the lack of safety. I am positive F1 would not be as tolerating with other circuits 4 weeks before the race
Red Bull (Max) will Overtake all the cars twice even 2nd position car..😅 looking long straights...
What a disaster! Who's dumb idea was this?
So don't visit Vegas Sept-Nov from now on. Got it 😂
You really have to ask yourself how such an undertaking can be financially viable 🤔
Like a football stadium.
@@ronbelanger4113 Not really a good comparison. A stadium is a permanent fixture, the F1 in Las Vegas is for one race and then everything is disassembled 🤔
@@robertw.1499 the beautiful smooth flat road surface will remain as well. And all the places where utilities moved from overhead cabling to underground buried cables will remain too - that's a one-off and won't need to be done every year. The first year is definitely going to be worse and not what should be judged.
Not judging buddy, just asking or just wondering why! @@mrtickleuk
@@robertw.1499 no worries! I can see other people doing it though, it's easy to forget that all the one-off changes are also done in year one :)
Could you imagine being a busy college student at the University of Las Vegas and a part time job on the strip and having to deal with this traffic for 5 months?
boo fucking hoo, cry me a river.
You are worried about lazy collage students? ha ha😆
UNLV is far enough away that it isn't really affected by the f1 construction but anyone who works on or around the strip has been fed up with it for months already.
Bro when I was in College I worked Downtown for Mervyns and for a Bar downtown. You don't think there are Student at UNLV who live Not even in Vegas but the Suburbs and work on the Strip? Of course there are. @@JaredConnell
I’m sorry but i would laugh so hard if there was torrential rain on race day and it got cancelled
Everybody commenting here about ‘not making money’ do not have a clue. Quit speculating this is why industrial engineers are hired to make these calculations. They won’t do this without a ROI.
F1: „we want to be more sustainable“
*Lots and lots of unused existing circuits*
F1: You know what? Lets rebuild Las Vegas every Year for 10 Years into a circuit
This really sucks what a dumb event. Freezing half of the strip is really profitable? What a disaster. People will not be let in and even pedestrian bridges will be blocked off.
Make your research man, the city will make good money, no tax payer money used only f1 money
I take a week long vacation annually in Vegas from nearby LA, CA. The F1 preparations and ridiculous Strip traffic didn't even bother as much as the ridiculous amount public drug use and crackhead homeless on literally every 10 feet, particularly in Fremont. Vegas has become worse than LA. Seriously, as a ligelong Angeleno, drugs and crime are an everyday thing, unfortunately Vegas became as bad as LA. That's what you guys need to be reporting on.
Not even interested lol. Vegas's Largest mistake
No one bothered to check things out. F1 has come very close to bankrupting countries. The first one is free, is part of their sales pitch. After that the price keeps going up.
The track design is BORING…. And the cold makes it incredibly dangerous cos the tyre will run cold on the long straights…. Awful
If this sh** show makes it 3 years I will be surprised.
Spider 🐖
I'm hoping this thing is a flop! Thankfully yesterday was my last day working on the strip. Start my new job Monday.
No more F1 bullshit for me!
A shit show
Terrible.. and f1 will will leave vegas when the 3 years is up unless Vegas starts to pay them to stay 😢
Total waste of money and time.
I'm laughing right now man, Las Vegas govt is hosting F1 so that it can increase the economy which is taking reverse reaction, because of this Las Vegas tourism has decreased for 3 months.
Even if F1 does get economy a Lil bit up, it can't balance out the loss due to interruption on the city
This circuit will not be practical is all I know, last grand prix might be next 2 year max no more than that
I hope after the contract is done, they don’t renew it! This is garbage! They don’t need 3 race tracks in the US
What a bad circuit layout!
Is it worth it considering the real classic tracks in America. I mean COTA is one of the best in the World, Classic Watkins Glen, Long Beach, Road America, Im not even American and I know these tracks.. Just a money grab IMO!
Looks a dreadful circuit. Long straights and very slow corners, an awful point and squirter like Baku or for oldies like me Detroit back in the 80s. In fact it looks so bad I think the Caesars Palace car park circuit from 81/82 was better
Reading some of these comments really makes America look bad. How shameful.
disgrace for the city
This track has the most boring layout of the calender! As a F1 fan i understand this is a money decision from the top, this is absolutly shit for a city like Las Vegas.
That's true about the layout, but only because Sochi is no longer a race LOL
At least Sochi had general admission viewing areas all around the track. This has none! I would go if there were places to watch the race from other than grandstands.
@@tweedledee4922 You make a good point. In other street races, like Monte Carlo, you can see people watching from their balconies. They live in those houses. Or from their boats. But you can't really watch a street race except from a grandstand.
money money money! making the wealthy more wealthy! let the little people pick up as much of the tap that THEY can get away with!
The upside down pig track , borring layout borring race for sure
This whole thing is dumb… I truly hope it fails and loses money so we don’t see it come back
I hope it's a financial failure and never returns.
It won't be a financial failure, but I believe either/both sides can bail on this after year 3.
@@christopherjohnson9003 A person can only hope.
I 100% agree!
What a horrible track

What part of the circuit don't you like? What did you think about that Sphere area? You don't think that is WOW!!!! How about all those stands all over the circuit?
Everyone I talked to today -- F1 fans from all over the world, locals, etc...agree it is a spectacular achievement.
Even the locals that were not thrilled with F1, the traffic issues, etc... agree it looks spectacular.
Like F1 or not, the circuit is impressive!!!
What part do you not like? Be specific. What did you think when you walked the circuit. Be specific!
If your going to bitch and moan, at least articulate your POV with a reasoned argument.
Horrible. F1 sells out again.
RIP vegas strip
What a waste of tax payers money especially because F1 is owned by the richest company in the world.
waste of money , and vegas will not be vegas anymore in the next ten years
