So get this. I watched all of your videos on this and bought the GM9000iED on that information. I got it and I'm really happy with it! I started running it on propane and it runs great. I finally changed it to gasoline and it wouldn't start. (The switch doesn't work for whatever reason). I bought it from Amazon so I contacted their support dept in hopes of getting it fixed. Instead of getting the little fuel valve they REFUNDED MY ENTIRE PURCHASE and didn't require me to return the generator! I took my refund and went right back and bought another one! So now I'll have twins and I got the Genmax parallel cable to make them work together. 2 for 1 deal, nice!
My Locked Rotor Amperage (LRA) on a 3 ton AC says 83A but in practice it's mid 70's - and you have to multiply the max Amps by 240 to get the wattage. I ordered and will be getting a Micro-Air Easy Start soon to bring that hopefully down to the 30's and then I can size the generator to fit.
So just today getting around to some practical testing, one issue I have is because the 50A plug is just above the lip of the cover the right angle N14-50P plug cant fit in for me. That seems like kind of a bad design idea. I see you have a right angle cable fitting, but that takes away confidence in being able to use any cable on the market. I happened to found a good deal for a 30ft for $60 and might have to return it now, or cut it apart to attach the straight cable end.
@@GeneratorReviews Sooo, for now angle grinder and shaved down the collar enough to fit. I have about 1cm of the bottom prongs that wont fit, no exposed wires, so I think this solution is good for now. Need to test and ensure I get a solid connection. Plan B is the cable end change.
Great information Gavin. I have often wondered if my current and very old 7.5 kw Coleman would power my 4.5 ton ac and the rest of my home. Happily subscribed!!
The softstart for sure is the secret, without who knows if it would start. This looks like a good model, but for a true emergency where you might not be able to get gas for say 1 or 2 weeks, would you recommend going with something smaller like perhaps a 4500w model? I guess in general would a 4500w at say 50% load still last a lot longer than say a 9000w at 25% load? I am worried about fuel consumption. Ian just it us and gas was very hard to find and we were not even in the worst area.
Thanks Gavin. My apologies for asking you to answer this question, but I appreciate the answer. Shortly after I asked it, I watched one of your comparative videos comparing 5 different models. Great videos all ! Keep up the great work. Your newest subscriber. Gil from West Central Florida.

Just installed this generator but with dual fuel. Hooked to 50 amp inlet , we tested it and it powers my whole house. Your videos really helped and educated me on this!
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Happy to help.👍🏾💯
How would you deal with electric start and the battery in a very cold environment if you had no power for a long time? Don’t we have to keep the battery charged? It doesn’t appear to have manual start
This model does have a recoil pull start and keeping the battery on a tender would help with that problem.
Thanks!!!
