yeah i can appreciate this tremendously. Im trying all this on my 79 camaro. Saw how awesome this guy is and had to totally rethink my plan!!! Thank you for this!!!!
This setup is pretty awesome. I love the racecar look. It took a good amount of time to get everything the way I wanted.
I definitely agree on the tailpipe being sort of hidden and not protruding out the rear !
I agree, I think dad is thinking that the air flow will bring the exhaust gases into the car if they aren't piped out farther. We are still debating that.
That’s a clean install...
I have the same kit for my 69. I'm glad your video answered my question as far as welding it with regular wire. BTW, my kit came with band clamps.
Great install. Can't wait to hear how loud it is.
I should have showed the mufflers. I was really excited to install this. They are a straight through design with some fiberglass inside them I think. Not sure how much they will muffle the exhaust. Dad wanted it loud.
Sweet install, looks fantastic!!
I hope it sounds as good as it looks.
Awesome job looks good bud
Nice job!
Looks great! I bet it'll be nice & loud!
There really isn't any good videos of the Pypes mufflers so we have our fingers crossed it will sound good. It's suppose to be a higher compression motor so it should sound awesome.
That is gonna sound GREAT!
I hope so.
Hello, Putting in the exact system on a 1971 Camaro and like you mentioned in the video "not quite a bolt in". Thank you for making the video. Saw all the Pypes videos and a ton of fine tuning steps are omitted. Anybody can put together and install this kit BUT tweaking it to make it FIT is totally a next level up. I tried to install the drivers side tail pipe that goes over the axle and putting the welded support into the bracket is a bear and then when it is installed it hits just about every single spot as it snakes around things. The extension hits the rear fascia too. The pipes need to be cut in several spots to make it fit correctly. Period.
great job, i think a heat shield near the fuel pipes is a good idea, just to be on the safe side
Looks great !!!
Took a good amount of time to get it right.
Heat wrap or paint the system to prevent rust and heat soak in the floor?
Great job an exhaust video without getting to hear the darn thing
The car wasn't ready to start when I installed this exhaust. If you look at the playlist on this car there are videos of it running.
I agree with cutting the tips off.
Yeah, the exhaust sticking out would have looked horrible.
Nice job
Thanks
Real nice job. Well done.
Thanks, can't seem to get anybody to watch the Camaro videos for some reason.
Im putting same system on my 72 chevelle looks good
What kind of hedder you runnin
I have a video on the headers as well. I believe we went with Hedman headers.
@@mossman381 did you get the special coating
Scuff welds w/ red scotchbrite, then use an acid brush to apply POR15 exhaust paint. Grey rings look just fine and hood up well.
I'm getting ready to put a very similar kit in the 1979 firebird I got for me and my dad. the internet is saying we don't need to go with 3inch but I already hit the buy button. our engine has a mid cam and headers. we have another 400 block that we want to build for power so I figured going 3inch now will be better for when we go with more power and want to flow more exhaust.
You would need a lot of power to need 3". And it gets a little tight in the back. 3" pipes will be a little harder to fit.
I have a question about that 99 to 02 face change to look like a 03 to 07 you did on a Silverado a few years ago
Can you take a 07 truck and put a 99 face on it?
I have never heard of anybody wanting to go backwards. If you have a 07 classic truck I think you can but the headlight wiring is a little different for 99-02 trucks.
mossman381 but if you could do the 99 to02 to the 03up could you just reverse it? Thanks for taking your time
How do u like the xpipe over h pipe
Never had an h-pipe on this car. It's supposed to flow better so that's why I went with it. Looks like a race car setup. Keep going in this video series and you can hear it run.
Was hoping to hear it.
At that time the car wasn't in running condition.
@@mossman381 i found the idle/rev vid. Sounds good. I just ordered the same exhaust system for my '70 a couple days ago. Hopefully installing it next weekend.
Can't say anything bad about this system. Fit pretty good. The violator mufflers are pretty loud.
@@mossman381 loud is always good.
Loud is good for a hot rod. I actually wanted dad to get a quiter muffler so the drone in the car wasn't so bad. On a long drive it might get annoying.
No fire up??
Car wasn't ready to fire up. Keep going in the playlist to hear it run.
I have used both the pypes system and the Flowmaster American Thunder on my cars. The Flowmaster system is a much better fit in both F body and A body GM cars. I like the sound of both but It's not even close when it comes to installation. The Flowmaster system is a far better fit out of the box period.
I have not used the Flowmaster kit. Not really sure why I went with the Pypes. Probably because they were cheaper. I had to fiddle with the rear part pretty good but that seems to be the norm with aftermarket parts these days.
Is that the 2.5 or 3 inch?
2.5", I wouldn't want to try and fit the 3".
@@mossman381 awesome that what I ordered but with the H pipe. You happy with the sound?
@@jared0132 I think it sounds pretty good. We had a 400hp 350 in the car but now has a 500hp 396. I think it has a more modern sound to it. Not sure you are expecting a 70 Camaro when you hear it. An H-pipe will probably give you a more classic sound. I have a few clips of this car driving but the sound isn't the best and we aren't really getting on it much. Waiting to break in all the new parts. I am going to try and get a driving video if winter doesn't move in too fast here.
Can't we hear what it sounds like?
Check the playlist on this project and you can hear it run.
'Violator' in spanish means rapist.. 'Violador'.
To 'Violate' means to rape.. 'Violar'
Get over it. It's a muffler!!
