- The Rodas Beach on Cíes Islands in Galicia, Spain is according to a British Newspaper the most beautiful beach on earth. But does the island Cíes really have the best beach of the world?
I travelled to Galicia and started my adventure in Vigo where I embarked on a boat to explore the Cíes Islands. Join me on my tour through the Cíes islands and let's evaluate together whether the Rodas Beach in the island Cíes really deserves the title "The best beach of the world" or not.

The islands were inhabited in the past (I think the last inhabitant was a german guy by the way). And there are remains of a monastery (already reconstructed) and a pre-roman settlement.
No way that the last one was a German 😱🤩

Hi Alina, very nice video as well! The beach that you are pointing to at 9'10'' is not in the same island. It is in San Martiño island, the southernmost island in Cíes archipelago. You cannot get there hiking. Only by boat and with a special permission (there is no regular boat going there with tourists). The water in the center-south of Galician coast is very cold because of the "upwelling" phenomenon occuring with NE wins (the dominant ones in summer). For that reason, the water is super clear, clean, cold, and rich in nutrients (that's among the main reasons why Galician coast is so rich in seafood, fisheries and acquaculture production). But the temperature varies, mostly between 12-18 degrees. I found the water there sometimes around 18 degrees, and then it is really nice (for us, the locals, at least 😄).

The water is really beautiful there and it looks super inviting. But for me the 18 degrees were not enough to get into it completely 🙈😅 But I’m also really bad with cold temperatures (which is strange by the way because I’m from the north of Germany 😅)
@@aventuralina Well, in the North Sea water is usually warmer than in southern Galicia, although it seems a bit counter-intuitive. It has to do with the upwelling thing that I mentioned, besides the North Sea being closed and shallow comapred ith the open Atlantic. In the last years in Galicia we had events of top historical records of sea water temperature (> 20º) although that doesn't seem to repeat quite often 😅

I am definitely proud of myself that I made it in there all the way up to my hip because in the North Sea I only manage to dip in my feet 😂 But that probably also because the water in the North Sea is less inviting than the water in Galicia 🫠 I Galicia I just really had to make an effort because it was so beautiful 😍

Muy bonita la playa y la isla. Algo que me gustó es que se puede estar un rato en la arena y luego caminar por los senderos para ir a disfrutar de la vista. El cielo estaba completamente azul sin una nube. 😃
Fue un día hermoso 🤩 Y si, se puede disfrutar fácilmente un día en la isla sin aburrirse ya que hay mucho para descubrir 😍

How beautiful is Cíes Island 👌 from the top the views are stunning each European island has its charms, white sand, crystal clear waters, the views are beautiful, the only thing is that you have to be a little brave to bathe in such cold waters 😂 while the waters of the Caribbean islands are a little warmer and more pleasant, but even so European islands have their charms too 👍
Although the islands of Los Roques here in Venezuela and the Maldives have the best beaches of the world 😅
Yeah, I have to admit that I also prefer the Caribbean Sea 😅 Not only because the beaches there are absolutely insane but also because the water feels like Bathtub water. That’s my temperature 😂

Hola Alina tenía tiempo sin conectarme veo que te fue muy excelente por Bolivia y Perú, las Islas Cies son un lugar interesante de Galicia y la temperatura de las aguas son fría por lo demás es bueno visitarlo hablas las restricciones durante temporada alta y en temporada baja cuáles son las restricciones, tu amigo venezolano.

En la temporada baja el clima no es muy favorable y creo que no hay mucha gente que quiere visitar las islas. Así que no hace falta tener restricciones 😅

There were no signs that it wasn’t allowed and the drone didn’t say anything about restrictions which it usually does when you are close to a forbidden area ☺️

Hmmm... In all your experiences, which beach can you not live without?
In my case, #PlayaGrande in #Choroni #Venezuela. It has everything!!! Not only beach, but palms, wonderful food around and a spectacular landscape around...
You can spend only a couple of hours there if you want to because boats run frequently. In my case, I’ve been there 6 hours in total and tried to make the most out of the day ☺️
I’ve heard that the beaches in Choriní are incredible! I’d love to explore them myself when I’m come again to Venezuela 😍

Gracias Alina por mostrar este bello lugar de España, la playa es hermosa y la isla aun mas y si comparto que el agua fría no ayuda, me pasó lo mismo en Arraial do Cabo en Brasil, con una playa muy parecida a la que estas ahora, pero con una agua helada a la cual había que tomar coraje para meterse a pesar del calor tremendo que hacia afuera. Saludos desde Argentina !. Thank you Alina for showing this beautiful place in Spain, the beach is beautiful and the island even more so and if I share that the cold water does not help, the same thing happened to me in Arraial do Cabo in Brazil, with a beach very similar to the one you are now, but with an icy water that you had to take courage to get into despite the tremendous heat outside. Si, Agua congelado lo hace difícil meterse. Pero esto no significa que no se puede disfrutar un día en una playa así. Lo disfruté mucho allá en las islas Cíes. Es un lugar hermoso y vale mucho la pena visitarlo 🤩
