One of the most beautiful things you can see in Vigo is the sunset in Samil Beach. The sun sets between the two Cíes islands leaving the sky with a wonderful colour palette... A perfect end for a journey day in Vigo. Some other places to visit may be the "Castrelos" park with the "Quiñones de León" pazo (palace). Other interesting thing is the quantity and quality of the mural paintings. All along the city you will find walls of four or five floor buildings with massive paintings all over the wall, from the floor to the roof. I'm from Vigo and you're invited to come back whenever you want! Nice video!
Thank you so much for your feedback and your kind words! I can imagine that the sunset at Samil beach must be the perfect ending of the day 🤩 Also thanks a lot for the recommendations! I will definitely be back to Vigo and to Galicia in general as I really liked it and had an amazing time 😍
There’s often confusion about the weather in Vigo. Despite the high rainfall, it has over 2,500 hours of sunshine annually, much more than Hamburg’s 1,500. Vigo’s climate is closer to Porto’s than to Coruña’s, where it rains more frequently even if the total rainfall is similar. In summer, it’s the sunniest and driest coast in Galicia, and after summer, it often experiences pre-drought conditions. It’s not very cold either, with an average temperature of around 17ºC. Data confusion arises because weather records are taken from the colder airport station, which has a different climate from the city. Thank you for the lovely video and keep it up! Greetings from Vigo! :)
Thanks a lot for the clarification about the climate! Vigo sounds even better now 🤩 I really liked the city. It’s beautiful and - unlike Barcelona - not overcrowded 😅 I had a really good time in Vigo and will hopefully explore more of Galicia 🤩

When the sun shines we go to the beach! 29° is hottish in the summer but we have days when the temperature heads into the 30s. The rain tends to be more of a “problem” in the winter but just look at the beautiful green countryside! 😁
That totally makes sense! The weather was just perfect for a beach day. At that moment I had just started my tour through Vigo and didn’t know yet how many stunning beaches there are not far away from the center 😍 Rain clearly has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages clearly is that it makes the landscapes more beautiful and green. The area is spectacular 🤩
I am from Vigo but currently I have been living in Ponteareas for more than a year I only go to Vigo to visit family, shopping or so, unfortunately the rents went up a lot which made many people go to other cheaper areas. Vigo is beautiful and has everything but nowadays in summer quite a lot of people and not to mention in winter with the Christmas lights it is full of tourism. For my taste, being from the city I prefer a quieter life, apart from the fact that immigration has also risen, especially Latin American immigration. Nice video 👌 how beautiful is the city of Vigo 😍 its buildings, its clean streets, its beautiful yacht marina make it a beautiful city in addition to having a beautiful landscape seen from the height of the castle, its beaches are beautiful, it's a shame that the beaches in the Southern Europe are a little cold but I imagine they get a little hot as the summer progresses. Just a few more comments: O Berbés is actually the neighbourhood below the sidewalk terrace where you were walking. The fish market is an amazing spectacle (Hemingway visited and wrote about it), but you need a permission to enter there. Regarding beaches, I agree with you with preferring O Vao compared to Samil, but Samil has amazing views and an absolutely gorgeous sunset. One of the most beautiful beaches in Vigo, if not the most beautiful, is Saiáns beach, the last one of the city going towards the south. It has Cíes islands right in front, superb sunsets and a bar with great views from the terrace.

Good of you to showcase Vigo, but how long have you been in Spain? In Spain cities are quieter in the afternoon, people relax (in Vigo, probably at the beach or in the countryside) before going out early in the evening when cities come alive.

The reason why downtown is almost empty with 29 °C is because almost everybody is at the beaches , sunbathing or having some beers at the nice " chiringuitos". Btw... might be the 4 th rainiest City in Spain ( I´m not sure about that..), but with one of the most " mild" climates of the Country, and with as many sunny days as some cities of the South, what entails that when it rains, it pours ! ( but not so many rainy days as Hamburg, for sure...). If so, we could not have such nice vineyards around . Thanks.
Yeah, you’re most likely right about people being on beaches on such a beautiful day. That totally makes sense 💯 About the rainy days… I always feel confused when I read these kinds of statistics. Because according to that Hamburg for example has less rainy days than Munich which is find very hard to believe. Or cities like Hamburg just feel rainier than others because when it rains it doesn’t stop for the rest of the day and even if it doesn’t rain, chances are still high that it’s grey which also doesn’t feel great. Anyways, I felt like Vigo has a much better climate than it’s reputation and I really enjoyed the city! 😍

Is a city where a great part of the old architecture was destroyed (except the small center u are showing us wich is really beautiful). Later most building were built in a non personality modern style. For me is not a beautiful city in terms of arquitecture from the XIX century and prior 1940 arquitecture. To see nice cities in Galicia where the old parts are bigger: Santiago, Coruña, Lugo... in Asturias: Gijón or Oviedo, in Cantabria: Santander and in The Basque Country Bilbao or San Sebastian. There the part of the city from prior to 1940, the XIX century and before are really beautiful. Well preserved. By the way... Galician language is not similar to Portuguese, if u ask them, they will tell yoy that they cannot understand better than speaking spanish.
Thanks a lot for your recommendations about other historical places of Spain. I will definitely continue my travels through Spain at some point :) I personally liked the city center of Vigo a lot and found it super beautiful. But I also noticed that outside of the center the architecture changed a lot. I still liked it though ☺️
That's not true. As a galego speaker I can tell you we understand Portuguese very well, at least the Portuguese spoken in the north of Portugal (Viana do Castelo, Porto...). The writing in Portuguese is a little different with the 'ç' letter, but you can translate in both ways galician/portuguese with very few rules. There are small differences in pronunciation but nothing compared to English, for example.
@@GuDeLJiTo that‘s what I thought and understood as well. I do speak Spanish and therefore reading Portuguese is even for me partially possible and I felt the same about Galician. So thanks a lot for the clarification here 😊
@@GuDeLJiTo Spanish speakers understand fair well portuguese too. Is similar, instead Galician is almost identical to spanish (portuguese... is not almost identical). U can see anything written in Gallego and is almost as if u read it in Spanish. This fact does not happen with portugese. But in reference to that u say "no true", I have been in Galicia several times and three diferent unrelated "gallegos" from the country side, who spoke Gallego as mother tongue told me that I wrote in the first message: we dont understand each other good (portuguese-gallego).

Of course what you say is totally right and I also should have realised that people are on the beach in the afternoon rather than in the city when it’s hot outside. But I live in Barcelona and I tend to forget about that as I am so used to the city being overcrowded no matter the weather or hour of the day 😅 It was really nice to walk around Vigo so peacefully ☺️
What month of the year was this video made?
I’ve been there in June, right at the beginning of the month :)
Vigo is a chapter of the book: twenty thousand leagues under the sea.- jules Verne-
Thanks and welcome.

You are on a hot Saturday afternoon in one beachside city and asking why there are so few people on the streets ? On the beach of course... 😄
It totally makes sense 😅 I have no idea why this didn’t occur to me 😂🙈
@@deadbysetas5727 totalmente! Cosas buenas de tener lluvia!
Go to #Cudillero in #Asturias. After don't miss #Aviles. ❤️
That totally makes sense 💯
About the rainy days… I always feel confused when I read these kinds of statistics.
Rain?? England. Oh god. Check. A huge
Time of "siesta". Or people are at the beach.
That totally makes sense ☺️
people don,t go out if it,s hot, every year it gets hotter, in the afternoon whem it,s less hot day go out and drink a beer
That totally makes sense 😁

16 10 siesta jajaj better 20 00 to 24 00
Makes sense! Later on it was more crowded 😁
@@aventuralina thanks
Of course I heard of Vigo 😂 You foreigners really make strange questions, like someone asking you “hey, did you ever heard of Utrecht?” UA-cam in all its glory 😅
You said the word, 'Beautiful', 636 times in the space of 14 minutes.
Sigh.
Yeah, I definitely need to work on that 🥲

Generally speaking, northern Spain climate, excluding a couple of months in summer, is very bad, lots of rain, cold, humidity, fog and you´ll barely see the sun. Southern Spain is way better.
Southern Spain is the complete opposite I guess 😅
😂😂😂
I will definitely continue my travels through Spain at some point :)
I personally liked the city center of Vigo a lot and found it super beautiful.
París, Londres, Santiago de Compostela, cualquier ciudad de Irlanda o Escocia.... NO.
So how much did the city of Vigo pay you to make the video?
If you know how to make a city pay you to create a UA-cam video, please let me know. That would be a great tip to lower my travel costs 😅
