Oh boy the Ashigaru with the necessary training and discipline even the humble peasantry, can wield such power and precision of matchlock rifles it goes to show you that bravery and skill knows no social status, making them decent at best they may be overlooked but they make their Mark as warriors plus the yari spearman---And bow men combination always worked
Samurais always loved since I watched samurai movies like heaven and Earth. the 7th samurai, which was also copied to be the magnificent seven, lone Wolf and Cub and the most beautiful samurai movie I ever watched RAN which is based off the Shakespeare play King Lear,
And the Hatamoto at 5:46 Looks awesome with the background
Giving him fearsome and commanding, presence."Hatamotas banner carriers and
bodyguards are good to have around to keep the house strong,
The Kensai duelist is like equivalent miyamoto musashi,
Who was also a writer of great
Poetry and wisdom like the book of five rings and like that Kensai
At 7:19 his sword doesn't look like the standard samurai sword but its shape looks cool especially the clothing he wears and his blindfold that gives him badass look, the crimson red devils, really trying to get that Khorne warriors, look down, especially that one at 10:31
Who's like he took Gary oldman's armor from Bram stalker dracula,
The Yabusame love their archery hunting attire and bow's that can be better than a rifle, and with horses they can be moving death
The great guard, at 13:13 look unearthly and with the fire below him on his foot and armor that look like it came from Elden ring the Nippon samurai are just as cool in the Warhammer fantasy world then they are real life counterparts, and Looking forward GDN For the other specialist units, with sword honor no foe is are equal, 😃👍

Faces of frugality and “heights of human prowess”; angry words in Breton, grr, argh. Indeed, as cultural horseback warriors, the Nipponese samurai seem particularly matched-or-better versus the knights of Bretonnia. Surrounding that honor, though...such a history of cultural self-terimnation in, uh, Nippon.
The bloody obvious standouts here being the Red Devils. Grimly reaping warrior priests a-horseback, on holy missions for a thousand kami. The obvious showpiece image for these furious fighters, if not of the video, is the Devil astride his mount shown after 9:30. Such ornate armour on the horse and even the look of the bordering flames/billowing smoke appear...devilish.
The Yabusame, as directly Japanese as almost any of these other units, again brings to mind a battle against Bretonnian knights. What would those close-quarters-fighting obsessed nobility think of the Nipponese archers combined with horsemen? The Nippon warriors could be especially troubling to the knights...except though, for that heavier, full metal jacket of that armour of Bretonnia.
The Great Guard, I expect to be as impressive as the Keshig of the Khan of Khans from 40k, and it sounds as though they are. Even riding mythical steeds unique from horses. And so, as you say Narrator, this was a great starter to the full roster of all known Nipponese military units. Predictably or not, it was the Red Devils that take the sake (yeah, that's right) as most interesting of these units. If at the least, due to their chosen colouring and design aesthetic. I'll be looking forward to getting into some of the more “Shadow Warrior” type of units of this far-neglected nation, so thanks go to you GDN for delivering more of the goods from Warhammer's Far East. Have a healthy and awesome day, and kami's blessings on you too.

Gods I'm loving this series. There are so few videos about Nippon in general and yet you are going through layer by layer, ahhh!!! It's so good!!!

Good understanding of the pros and cons of cold v hot weapons especially in medieval Japan... pretty funny idealized version of it. Like if the Apaches and cowboys got along and heroically fought demons together :D

He went over it last video. Think of it like a battalion commander, a general of most medieval sized armies. They lead 3-5 Companies.

It's a type of officer. If I remember correctly, it's the equivalent of general in the real life former Japanese military of WW2.
