Love the idea of having 3 people ride 3 bikes, great perspective and comparison. Love that they're 3 different heights too. One thing I'd suggest is in the future rather than say "this bike" say "the bolt" or "the harley" as with 3 people constantly changing bikes saying "this bike" becomes confusing.
I was totally going to include that as a subtitle for forgot, lol! So, it's up y'all to remember after each switch 😅
@@BlockheadMoto if I sat down and watched it might have been okay, but I was listening while driving to work and had no idea what was going on lol
After watching it a second time, I got used to which head was talking. At first, it did feel like a shell game.
As someone just getting into motorcycles and not knowing what I'll eventually ride, these were great critiques of all three potential beginner cruisers!
Happy the vid helped out!
As an indian owner I can tell you its a great bike.
I have the Indian scout 60. It's my 5fth bike. Great bike. So far got a little over 12 k miles with no mechanical problems
I have a yamaha bolt and they are awesome bikes. it has power but you can tune it so it up to you. sportsters and scout are nice but the throw in of the bolt and sportster feels better to me
I have a 2015 bolt and an 2009 883 and i always prefer the bolt. I let anyone wanting to ride for the first time ride the sportster.
Honestly that bolt is really impressive to me as a stock bike.
Totally A Panda take it from me it’s crazy addicting to modify this bike is. I figured I was done with the build and wanted to start over with a street bob. Went to the Harley dealer and I straight up didn’t like it. It felt small, the controls were almost behind me, and I didn’t FEEL any more well made. I’m truly convinced you only get a Harley if you care about Harley status. MUCH better bikes out there. Bolt over street bob for me. One day when I go bagger I’ll probably go Harley though.
@A1 Savage L
The Indian Bobber is my dream bike. This time next riding season,I'll have one! I've test drove all of the direct competitors..nothing has that extra kick like the Scout has!
I own the 2020 Indian Scout Bobber and I love it. I went into the purchase knowing that I’d be spending another $1000 right away replacing the medieval torture device (seat) and the potato cannons (exhaust), but after a Corbin seat was added (amazing) and installing V&H slashcuts it’s just about perfect.
@@YouthReachInc Yep that's what I've heard too! The seat and the shocks were normally the first things to go lol
GsxrGrl21 they have very poor suspension & are uncomfortable for longer trips. My neighbor has one.
Just bought my white smoke bobber yesterday. BRO DO IT
@@BLVINEOCKERMVN Damn right! Congrats bro!!
Over the last 3 mos., I've watched your old videos grow from "how to" to your newer videos that say "welcome to the club." You have made me a proud Blockhead.
This is BY FAR the best comparison video out there. Very ingenious idea to do it this way. Thanks so much.
I just dig the Bolt! I’ve always liked the Sportster but the Bolt has a style I dig!
i choose the bolt too
Trying to figure why people shit on the bolt i like the look of it
@@brockbaker9500 i like the look but i like the engine even more
I love my bolt
“I CANT FIND NEUTRAL!!” - says every sportster owner ever. (Owns a 2000sporster)
Can’t find it in my 05 electraglide either.
Never had an issue on 4 different sportsters I’ve owned ?.
That would be every noob rider to be honest lmao if you know how to ride and have been riding for a long time you won't ever be saying that.
Agreed. Own a 2020 sportster and find it very hard to hit neutral at first. But realize I was holding the clutch too much. Now I only hold it slightly “tighter” than the friction zone and can hit neutral pretty easily.
Tak In Chan I also have the 2020 Sportster and it takes me quite a bit to find neutral. Hopefully your method helps me out!
I got that notification and hit that button so fast! Glad to see you out riding, and it was a great idea to get the inputs from all of them, especially Pedro. The bike I'm most excited to see is the Indian Scout. Already putting my tickets in for this season as well, and highly anticipating the giveaway for the Dyna from Season Four. Keep up the great work, Block! :D
Get a scout they are epic
Hey Blockhead, thanks for this perspective. Having 3 people with different "expertises" as riders, really gives the audience an awesome comparison. Cheers from Portugal!
Last day off, just got done riding my motor-kykle, and continuing with watching these videos lol!
I might agree on a Harley being expensive to maintain if he was talking about a big twin but when I had my 883 Sportster I barely had to do any work to it at all. Mostly fluid changes when they were due and a few adjustments every riding season and it was good to go. It doesn't even have a chain.
My 48 is the same way. Fluids, maybe tighten a couple bolts, and good to go. I run it pretty hard, too.
Anyone who says Sportsters are unreliable doesn't know what they're talking about. Thing is built solid and the engine is bulletproof.
Fantastic video, thanks so much for creating this. For beginner cruiser riders like myself, this info is massively helpful. I especially love how Pedro offered his perspective as a Tech and a rider, noting the 'cool points' and versatility of the Harley but recognizing that the everyday rider does this as a hobby and price very much matters. Anyone with automotive background knows that the cost of a vehicle only STARTS at the pricetag; it's the upkeep that you really feel.
I ride a 1980 Yamaha XS850s, first bike, love it. I have always liked Harleys and because of a deal through a friend use Harley riding gear. Yet, everything I have seen and heard has convinced me to upgrade to an Indian.
Really good video idea, compare 3 different bikes all together by 3 different riders.
Nice job.
I've had my eye on upgrading from my Kawi Vulcan S up to an Indian Scout Bobber, but I was recently tempted with how much cheaper the Iron 883 was. Now you guys have confirmed my decision to stick with the Indian. The Iron might be more affordable upfront, but overtime the Scout might be a better option in the long run.
I had put a deposit on iron. When I went to see the Indian and sat on it I bought it on the spot and got my deposit back.
Even if you did decide to go with the 883 it would have been a waste. For $1000 more you can jump to the 1200 and it would be alot more fun and useful. The Harley's are way more customizable though which is what everyone overlooks. The sportster engine overall has been a bulletproof engine for years why do you think they have been pretty much the same just very very minor changes.
Great comparison video 3 separate riders swapping bikes and giving opinions about each one! Excellent video 👍 gonna be nice watching you Trick them out
Great comparison! Thx for that! Got my 883 on Aug 31st and just LOVIN´ it!
I really like how you've expanded the channel to include friends in your content and it being more than just ride outs. It makes the content more robust and it's enjoyable watching people have a good time with each other. RSSV
@Bunnyshooter 223 Nope. Ohio, but I typically ride solo.
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thanks man, glad you're enjoying the vids, and I appreciate the feedback, means a lot!
I’m 6’1” on an Iron 883 and I feel fine. Much better with apes. Might get forwards, but I’m trading up for an FXBB next year.
Lol agreed..My husband rides my 883 sportster Every once in a while.. he is 6'1" and looks like a giant on it!!
Enjoyed the video. Great to hear all 3 opinions. Keep up the good work. I appreciate all the time and effort that goes into these vids.
Thank you for all the videos, most have helped me get a better sense of motorcycles and different kinds of motorcycles. Not to mention you gave me the courage to be able to take my motorcycle out on the streets.
It's funny because I literally did an 883 review this past Sunday and said I felt like a circus bear on a tricycle as well
That's a smart way to do a comparison! Good content
I was thinking about getting a 883 for a first bike, but thinking about that Yamaha. Great Video!
Great criticisms, thoughts and riding responses. I'm so excited for the next vid.
The Bolt actually has more torque than the 883 iron and lower down, 59ftlb at 3000 vs 54ftlb at 3750rpm for the 883
I own a Indian Scout Bobber and it’s far from stock. I can’t explain to you how fun it is turning heads because they’ve literally never seen a bike like it and it feels great to do something different. I highly suggest it.. just get a new seat tho lol
Man it's really surreal watching UA-camrs from your own area, like at the time this vid was recorded I might have been maybe 2 blocks away and not realized it lol.
Such a great video! I am looking to purchase my first bike within the next year and I have looked into all three bikes. Thank you for the better understanding, looking forwards to the second part of thos video!!
I have the Bobber on the way, should have it this month. Bottom line, get whatever two wheels you can afford and have a blast out there.
Basically! 🙏🙌👍
Motorcycles are lifestyle catered to the individual. It's all about making the bike your own.
Very good reviews, the Bolt was criticized for lack of power but it is faster then the Iron. But it lacks in exhaust sounds. The lady placed the Iron first but it might be a biased opinion but being a new rider it's normal to pick what you bought. And that's why we have test like these to give everyone opinions. Good video
6:09 - 6'4" on an 883 that's me! I'm told I look huge. First bike perfect to train, very enjoyable, not bothered by the size, and easy to cut through Hollywood traffic. What helps it's a 2003 Sportster gunmetal blue with hard case saddlebag compartments that has matching color as the bike originally, making the bike look a bit wider, like a mini Road King. Passing the 883 possibly to my daughter and when I get a bigger bike in the future.
Love the 3 person 3 bike comparisons! Refreshing for sure
Another great video, i just wanted to tell you that i appreciate all the content you provide. From easy instructables to just goofing around, im very grateful and you helped me be confident riding with my first bike and learning the controls. seriously, thank you bro! Hope the fam is doing well!
Man those are some really nice ass clouds 9:23, great video, you guys seem like such a fun group! :')
Sounds about right 1. Indian 2.bolt 3. Hd. I had it in the same order
Will agree ... but the indian will be the top $ bike vs the bolt? Plus its a 1200cc a little bit of a class leader . Like the kid that was kept back a extra year in School.
I'm gonna be buying a bolt, and then continue to save for the Indian
The Indian scout bobber is my dream bike. (As of rn) but for now, a bolt is much more obtainable
I really like to watch the videos like that you give away bikes I used to ride years ago but being in bad health will never be able to afford another bike so getting to watch the videos is great just wanted to say keep up the good work may the lord bless you all
Love the as-it- happens commentary. As a newcomer to motorcycles, these happen to be the ones I'm most interested in. Thanks for the video!
Rode a scout when they first came back out with it and loved it. Definitely on my short list for when I get another bike
What would be the best motorcycle to start off with if you never rode before on one like which one should I choose
I have a Dyna now and I used to own an 883 Sportster that I toured over 20 states on.
The Dyna is more tall-friendly but the Sportster engine is a MUCH more reliable design than the big twin.
And with Roadking shocks, taller bars, forwards, and a Mustang wide seat the Sportster was comfortable up to 500-800 miles per day.
I’m definitely a Harley guy for sure, but I’d love to ride the Indian Scout also. Thank you for the great vids, keep them coming ride safe Bro!
I'm actually looking at all three of these bikes for next year and Wes being 1" shorter than me really helps. Great video!
Ahhh MMI the memories, they are great.. Except the guys below us getting kicked out of their apartment for "float testing" a Ski-Do in the pool.... But that was the Phoenix MMI campus.
Need more of these folks on the channel. Looks like a fun group.
When I worked at Harley. We took in a Yamaha Bolt 975.! And the first time I rode it. I was surprised. Had a lot of fun on it.!! It felt like a Roadster. But fun in a different cool way.
Looking at the bikes I guess it makes sense to compare them, but the Scout is leagues ahead of either of these other bikes. The entry level scout is faster than the “big boy” sportster. They are not in the same league. The bolt is fine.
Agreed!
I think they should have reviewed the Bolt R spec but honestly most people probably wouldn't buy the R spec
J D leagues ahead? calm down.
@@ericx7476 sorry about your Sportster
J D sportster? Calm down. lol
Sadly that air cleaner is the entire reason I didn’t buy a bolt. I knew I was going to ride a lot and I wanted something that was fairly narrow. The sportster and bolt fit my price range in the used market along with the shadow. The shadow felt too fat for me so i looked at a bolt without starting the bike that air cleaner was hurting my leg within minutes. Ended up going with the sportster because the uncomfortable seat was my only real complaint
Two Wheeled Adventures lol, you can always change the air cleaner, cheaper than a seat. Bolt is the best out of the 3, because reliability is more important.
That 950 engine has been going strong for 11 years, never heard of anyone having a single issue with that engine. Yamaha has been #1 in reliability for many years.
Kuryakyn Velociraptor would have solved your problem. These bikes are made to be customised to most of that standard stuff is only there for legalities.
Im 6'2 and have a bolt s 2018 model and i love the bike comfort and handling is excellent, the ride is very smooth ,i moved the riding position forward and put a new seat and ride every day,
K&N Yamaha Bolt intake might one of the thinnest and makes a huge positive difference.
Terrific comparison. Not only 3 great bikes to compare, but instead of just one person's view, we get three - and three very different people (LOVE that you had a woman rider - so rare and it should not be!). Great concept and very well executed. I look forward to exploring the rest of your channel and seeing what other content you've got - if this is any indication, I'll be wasting a lot of time here!
I’m a shorter guy. 5’5” and I chose the Indian scout because I can feel comfortable feet firmly planted on the ground. Also it’s not too heavy like the iron. :)
Have you ridden the Bolt?
Your videos have helped a lot man and I finally got my Vance and hines straighshot Slip-Ons and I knew how to install them because of your great videos man big inspiration
Indian for me and I’ve just bought the Scout Bobber 2020 - awaiting delivery.
The Indian is more compatible with a 48 and what motor did the bolt have?
Liked the video! Would have been cool if the Vulcan 900 was included. I'm kinda partial to it, lol!
I love the different opinions about each bike not just one person saying good or bad about the bike. Also you are all different heights. My wife has also wanted to ride, she liked that there was a female in the mix. It was a feel good vid! Very positive attitudes. Thank you. Look forward to your next vid.
I love this video but looking at the sky/clouds feel like you’re in VR for sure! Please do more riding videos
Man I can't tell you how happy I am you did this video!! I'm in the market for sportster and that was my 3 choices!!!
Definitely like this arrangement to get different perspectives on the different types of bikes 👍👍👍
Nice comparison.
...but what I really want to know is - how does the Scout compare to the M8 Low Rider S? ;)
Scout has 100 water cooled horses and 74 ft. pounds of torque, which is impossible to match at price point in an HD.
The Scout can move, I'll give you that, but via the 'seat dyno,' meaning how it feels when on it, the M8 FXLRS wins fo sho.
@@BlockheadMoto Cool, thanks for the info, I know it's not exactly apples-with-apples but I still wanted to know. Guess the extra torque of the M8 makes up for the weight/HP difference.
It'll be interesting to see what HD do with the Sportster for 2021, will it be entirely new, water-cooled and competition for the Scout...
I own an Indian Scout and my roommate owns a new Low Rider S, so I've been lucky enough to ride both. The Low Rider S definitely has more low-end torque off the line, but once the Indian gets above 4000 RPM it's game over for the Harley as far as speed and power are concerned. Comfort will vary based on your height and preference. I think the Indian handles better and is more willing to turn in, but the double disk brakes on the front of the Harley give it a lot more power and confidence for braking. But then again you're comparing a $13-14K Indian to the $19-20K Harley. Both great bikes, but my Indian will take a stock M8 any day, particularly once I can get north of 4000 RPM. But neither of us bought our cruisers to drag race anyway. They're both powerful, beautiful bikes.
@@matthewwilliams9542 Awesome, thanks for the detailed insight! I'm looking pretty seriously at the Scouts. Also on my list is the M8 Low Rider S, but the price difference between the two is $6000USD where I live...which is enough to fully customise the Scout and have some $ left over!
It's fun how perspective change from one person to another/ I tried all 3 motorcycles except it was the iron 1200 not the 883 and the scout bobber not the normal one. I felt too tall on the scout and really didn't like it. The 1200 was the most comfortable to me and the bolt close second. I was ultimately going for the bolt but no Yamaha dealer did have any bolt, must of them were also Indian dealer so I think they tried to push the Indian product. In the end, my only regret with the iron 1200 is I should have gone for the roadster because I'm modding it like one anyway. I still wonder if I should have chosen the Triump Bonneville t120 or the Bonneville scrambler however.
You can do alot more with the sportster than the other bikes too which most people don't realize the customization options are endless.Everytime I see an indian or a bolt they look exactly the same as the last one I saw just different exhaust.Everytime I see a sportster or any other harley(except for the streetglide and roadglides) they look completely different than the last one.Everyone complains about how harleys vibrate too much but have you ever heard a chick say that?? Not me lol
@C R I was leaning more towards a scrambler either the 1200 or the street. They're more my style and im the outdoor kind of guy so I'm often on crappy road in the middle of nowhere. The only reason I got my iron 1200 is because I couldn't afford the scrambler. Don't get me wrong tho I love my 1200.
This season and some of your recent Indian drives has convinced me to get the Indian Scout for my first bike.
I live in the UK and I am interested to know what the price of each bike is on the road (taxes and registration costs paid) at the moment in the UK a sportster 883 iron costs less than the Bolt and the scout (the 1200 scout is about the same money as a 1200 sportster) is this the same in the USA . For this reason the Bolt has not sold well in the UK since it was launched despite arguably being the better bike (it also costs more than a MT 9 which is also plain daft) .
The Sportster line are a GREAT seller in Europe. Check out Sportster Madness. They’re based outta the UK. They have huge events with 300-500+ bikes.
I'm Here to Say I know the sportster line is a good seller it is a good cheap reliable Harley that has a massive supply of parts both Oe and aftermarket . My question is about the bolt which in the UK has not sold in the numbers that I think Yamaha expected but has sold well in the USA I can only think it is the price . I remember the launch and the press coverage along with the advertising campaign and the dealer competition but I have only seen one on the road and very few on eBay .
883 specifically is a bulletproof engine for sure
Appreciate all the videos you have created and shared with us. Trying to purchase a bike and I’m totally lost. Hopefully your content will help me decide on which motorcycle to get. Currently I’m debating new or used.
My dude asking Pedro for performance on the 883 and Pedro be like ... I mean it's iconic and it has a ton of aftermarket parts
I chose the Yamaha back in 2016 over the others because of the small impact on my wallet, Yamaha’s quality and the bikes potential. Drop in a quality Intake, exhaust and (optional) ECU flash for more power and it’ll still come out cheaper than the other two. Love my Bolt.
Been looking at these bikes. Nice to see a comparison
great vid. very informative. enjoyed watching you guys roll down 441. lol
This was so incredibly helpful. Thank you all so much.
this was a great was to put things into perspective for new riders. Cannot wait to see the progress of these three bikes!
Why does Anna sound so much like Jess of Her Two Wheels? Her helmet looks familiar also.
I rode the Harley, it’s super hot and was about burning my leg. Rode the bolt and the airbox was in an awkward place and was unforgettable to ride (for me and my height/leg length) and I was very disappointed on the power. Never rode the Indian, but I hope it’s better than the other 2.
Where can i find parts for my 2020 sportster 48 besides Harley
How did you find a time to go that length of OBT with such light traffic?
6’5 and I love my Sportster.
Thanks for another great video. Are all of you using Sena communication devices? I was considering the 10C Evo, communication and camera. Will I need to purchase an additional mesh component or does somebody make a camera/mesh communicator combination that will connect to my phone?
I have an 883 with a stage 1 & forward controls. I'm 5'3" & I love it. I personally didn't care for the Bolt. I felt cramped on it & the Rebel.
This review is what I’m waiting for
Cool video. New to the channel and love the content. Good work
Great video, absolutely beautiful day outside. Sky is breath taking👍
You should redo this a few times as you mod the bikes, especially if you do the 12 up kit on the 883.
That Lexus at the very end tho... dayum. Much love to block fam, I always look forward to new uploads (and winning a bike) 😂
I miss living in Florida. I kind of figured that was OBT, just by the scenery.
I’m 6’2 230lbs, would any of those bikes be too small for me?
With forward controls and apes all of them should be fine. But get the 1200 if you go for a sportster.
Ecstatic that you did this bike comparison, I'm currently looking to purchase my first bike. And I was looking at the Kawasaki 900 and Vulcan s, Indian Scout sixty, and the Yamaha Bolt. I'm concerned about peg dragging with Scout during turn and if comfort will be issue for 6'2" hight. Prior to your video, I had decided on the Bolt, not sure now. Your thoughts, other than sit on them. Newly licensed, so law where I am won't allow test drive until I've driven for two years, so I need your educated/experienced mind.
This is like the most fun bike review I have ever seen. Awesome.
Love your videos! Keep killing it, regards from Guatemala.
That Indian blows every one of them away! NOT even close!
what about a 6'4 guy on a 2020 iron 1200, think i would fit ? those bikes are beautiful
I absolutely loved that video; pretty new into motocycles I'm still debating which one to get and those 3 models are exactly the ones I'm looking into (except I'm rather considering the scout sixty), I loved to hear the pros and cons; especially that last comment about the money I'm ready to put into maintenance; another point to consider also is the price; idk about the market in your area but where I live, there are so little used Indians out here that even used they are still way more expensive then the Iron 883 or the Bolt.
Let me start this off by saying I've only ever ridden 3 bikes. The bolt that I own, a HD 883 iron, and a HD heritage softail. I was shocked when she said that the bolt lacked in get-up-and-go because my bolt is way quicker than the other 2 I mentioned. Is it really a slow bike? Man I need to test drive more!
If I'd choose one, I'd choose the bolt.
Look up "Low and Mean Yamaha Bolt"
Owned the bolt for three years. Now I owned the 2023 scout bobber with the 1300cc and the scout is by far the winner. The bolt was literally like a child play compared to the scout. Only thing the bolt has is the comfort if you get the r spec model. The seat is kinda the same to the scout. Suspension on the bolt is just a lot better. But everything else, the scout is just sooo much better in soooo many ways. Unless you’re a shorter person. But then again, you can get a longer handle bar. For the Harley, I rode a few customized 883, never a stock one. And even with mods, I wasn’t a fan. I prefer the bolt over the Harley. Sadly.
I'm 6-foot tall and would like to buy a Victory Octane, am I very tall for that bike or would it be okay like Pedro on the Bolt?
Thanks for the video guys.
I’m 6 foot and ride a bolt. But I got mini apes and it feels perfect.
@@usedoxygen5690 Thanks for your fast comment :-) I just can't decide between the Octane (1200cc) and the Judge/Gunner (103c.i.), maybe not just for the power but for the size difference... need some help here. I come from a '13 Softail Slim with didn't cream my twinkie after a few months. I say bye-bye to HD.
@@amoulet69 You will love the Scout. Get some extended reach foot pegs and you are good to go.
Free Kyle
So funny about the exhaust. I had the problem touching the exhaust on the bolt not the scout and I'm 5'7"
Hahaha, fire drill, musical chairs on bikes 🤘👍🤘
Hey cool vlog. I own a Chieftain limited and used to get a scout as a loan bike I’m 5’7” and the forward controls on the scout suck, with the stock bars, but the 2020 scout has half apes and they ride awesome you’re not leaning over tank as much. I own an iron 1200 with a stage 1 it’s an awesome fun street cruiser it was my daily commute. City traffic cutter, half apes mid controls are the bizz. Can’t wait to see what you do to these 3 bike dude. Haven’t ridden a Yamaha bolt so can’t say but typical Yamaha it will be low on torque and need some serious pipe/air upgrades. Could be the Yamaha is the one you have the most research to do to extract a little more get up and go out of it.
scott rubie exhaust, air cleaner & ecu tune is all that’s needed for the bolt.
Hey Blockhead do you and Wes have any advice for Riders 6 feet 4 or taller that you could recommend any motorcycles to try out
Can we enter the competition for the bikes if we live in the U.K.? Love the videos either way.
