Had mine over a year, great at what it does with an added mic. The main gripe which I sadly found out is the plastic housing for a tripod mount... just not strong enough but great for going inside the bike jacket. Now using H4N Pro for my outside needs
BRILLIANT video sir! I loved that you showed us all the bits and pieces on the bit of kit, as well as demonstrating how to use it from a practical perspective ! Love yer work ! Much appreciate your taking the time to make the vid. Cheers, from Australia
I have just un-boxed my new Zoon H1n, a quick search and I found your video. It is just what I was looking for as I will also be using mine outdoors. Well done and thanks for sharing. Regards Dwane
use power bank to turn on my new Zoom H1n recorder,After using the recorder for sometime, if i disconnect the power bank & after sometime say 1 hr,if I switch it on again,Messege appears"date & Time has been resetted".Is it because there is no AAA batteries Inside
Great review and very helpful. I am just thinking of buying, that plastic thread has worried me so I am going to check the Tascam equivalent I think. Thanks very much for your help
Matt you always do top rate instructionals and or reviews. They are simply a pleasure to listen to and watch. I agree, this is a good bit of kit. I have one here and guess who it belonged to? You got it - it was Paul's. After this video you have made me realize what I'm missing out on. Many thanks Matt - have a great weekend. Mark
Great review. I bought mine last month, love the quality though for my podcasts I now use an Audio Technica 2020. This is now my outdoor mic and works really well.
Hello Martin, hope your well The biggest problem I have with mine is although I turn it on and set the required settings I sometimes forget to press record and lock ....oh well, you live and learn I guess LOL

Was going to buy one of these last week, but i bought a second hand Evistr L53. Thought i was saving money. It is a terrible little thing with a terrible menu and very small screen. I seem to have locked myself out of it. Re formatted, but after you do a recording and save it you are locked out again. Nobody knows how to fix it. So i am going to buy H1n which i should have done last week. Enjoyed your review very well explained.
Excellent video, especially for non -tech savvy people like me. I recently bought the Zoom H1N and I have been using a Boya BY-M1 mic with my Nikon D5300. I want to connect the mic with the Zoom H1N and then connect the Zoom H1N to my camera, so that I have 2 audio files. 1. Which cable do I need? TRS to TRRS or some other one? 2. Please give some advice regarding an inexpensive lav mic, which is similar in quality and price as Boya BY m1, because the part of Boya BY-M1 with the battery makes it really fragile. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
@@spijkerpoes you can up the sound quality even further with this device and the quality is perfect for sound effects my camera also has a strange noise from the sound file that i cant get rid of sometimes. This is a great sound recorder totally recommend it and it wont leave you eating beans on toast for a week after paying for it.
Great explanation, Can you please tell me connect to connect ZoomH1n and Boya BY M1 mic to my smart phone so that I can record Audio and Video in together.
Thank you! Can I pause the recording, go back using the rewind button, and record over a portion of that recording (to correct a mistake for instance)? Or do I need to create a new recording and then edit and merge the two recordings on a computer (using an editing software)? Thanks!
I can only answer this from what I do. If i make a mistake i keep filming pause Clap and start again (take2) when i sync the file with the original video file its very easy to see where i clapped and started again and simply go to that point and cut the rest. that's how i do it, hope it helps
hi Maff T UK i have a question do you keep the triple batteries in the h1n when you use the power bank?i just got a h1n and i thought i do the same thing but my power bank cutting off after 40 sec so do you keep the batteries in the unit?and thanks for the video.
I've just done an experiment with and without batteries as i didn't know the answer to this question. It didn't make any difference and the HN1 stayed on in both cases. however I do know some times its down to the chip contained in the power bank and very light drainage such as the HN1, will convince the power pack nothing is being used and it will automatically shut down. My preferred power banks and solar chargers are RAVPOVER they seem to be robust good quality gear also just a question were you actually recording when it shut down? I think perhaps try other power packs, borrow a couple off your buddies to see if you find one that stays on. hope this helps regards Matt
@@MaffTUK yes to your question i did try to recorded and it did shut down so i thought i looked on YT to see if anyone else had the same problem i only found one guy who said the same thing you just did but he didn't same what was a good power bank to try., so thank you so much and i will be getting a ravpower powerbank for the h1n now.

Thanks for a honest - down to earth - review.. from your perspective. Good luck with your recordings.
Thank you Anthony 👍
thanks a lot, Sir! We have here and use the H1n for our channel, and the plastic screw thread is really the only disadvantage so far.
Its doing very well so far and I'm gradually remembering to turn the bugger on LOL

Thank you Sir. Know that you have helped many out there.
Excellent review! I watched the entire video and I don't usually do that. Thank you.
The H1n is great as it improves on the H1 as the H1 had its bottons on the side and its great that the main funtions were moved to the front.
Great review and very helpful. I am just thinking of buying, that plastic thread has worried me so I am going to check the Tascam equivalent I think. Thanks very much for your help

Unfortunatly that was from china found on EBAY UK not expensive at all and works a treat
