Not impressed... when you hold down the "option" button this comes up with 4 new things you can choose from. What do all these mean " AUTO REC, PRE REC, SELF TIMER, SOUND MARKER"??
Also what about the "settings"option (press trash can button while turning on the device at the exact same time) this open you to battery life, SD card life, LCD, date/time, language, etc.

Before viewing this video I was lost in terms of how to specicially set the recorder for my purpose. I want to record the folk songs that I write, sing, and play on an acoustic guitar. Your very insructions were perfect on how to do this on my H1n. Thank you!!

  • @HardwareUnknown

I mean... wow... that's really everything I needed to know. You should be hired to do beginner's guides regularly. The views were all very clear, each word was purposeful, and you explained just enough to demonstrate why to use a certain setting, without overextending the video. I've barely started using my H1n, and I feel a lot more confident diving in now. Much appreciated.

So I received my H1n recorder about a week ago. Read the manual, which was pretty basic, and went out to capture different street sounds. It was hit and miss. By watching your video, it showed me some of what I was doing wrong and built on some of the stuff I got right. Good tutorial.

I bought the H12 several months ago as I wanted something small, good quality, and simple to use. So this recorder was recommended and it's a great choice. I use it for recording interviews that I use to write stories from. Your video has been most helpful because I didn't know anything about what the features really meant...so having you explain them has been very helpful. Thanks very much.

I just got this recording device and it didn't seem the most intuitive. I looked through the manual and it didn't help much. I searched on UA-cam and chanced upon this video. I think Zoom should consider paying royalties to Julian for teaching their consumers how to use the mic. It's truly the manual that should have come with the H1n.

In fact it's so sensitive it picks up the slightest bit of handling but great quality. Although I have a "similar product" the information I learned here is applicable on mine as well. A great tutorial.

Thank you Julian, this is the best Zoom H1N Tutorial I have seen till now! Your calm manner to explain things, helped me to follow and understand what settings should I use in different situations.

I just bought one to take with me on Vacation to San Diego. Going to record at Sea World, Zoo, Balboa park and Mission and Pacific Beach. Thank you for your recommendations on settings, I appreciate it.

Hi Julian, thanks for the video. I have a question: is there a way to rename the files and later playback on the H1n? I tried to rename them on my computer, but after that the H1n did not recognize the file even though it was the same.
