Corey Taylor is the kind of man that I can respect. He has his own opinions, some of which I agree with, some maybe not, but he does not go along party lines. He seems like a person that one could have a fine, intelligent political conversation with.

I used to not give two shits about what the likes of a Corey Taylor thought....but I now appreciate just how thoughtful and sincere he is. He has a pretty good grip on what's going on. He may not be an activist, but he's not a limousine liberal like the Beyonces of the music world.

Rock was founded on the idea of unrest in society and the ambition and initiative to make a change in the world. Politics are an intrinsic part of the message of rock, vital to the very basis of the genre.

ayayron Yeah, you know it doesn’t matter which news program it is that you watch because it’ll always be biased in one way or another, you can never really keep up with the talking points they hit because, if you’re being mindful, you ought to find out what’s being reported as factually true or alluded to as cold, hard fact since they may just be cherry picking.
I just don’t read nor do I watch the news. My advice is to actively act creatively; write fiction, play music, read, etc. It’s a much less frustrating path to, I guess, enlightenment. (Until someone says the console you play on is shit, or that metal sucks, then the pattern continues)

I feel you. When Corey talked about trying to find a middle ground and have the best of both worlds. People already went full keyboard warrior and calling him names before hearing him out... And if they heard him out they did not listen. He has no bad intends he just want's a fair political system and a honest president.

I believe we have come a long way. I had polio at age 1. I was rejected in music my whole life. 'nobody will come to see a guy with crutches on stage'. One and on and on. They had a zero acceptance policy. I don't believe the record labels would do much different now. I can say this. I now write my own songs, I arrange them and do my own vocals. I do 3d vfx graphics with houdini to make my own videos. Today nothing can stop me. I wouldn't change a thing about my history. It's not me. It's society. The key is finding self worth and not giving a fuck what others think. Do it for you. Don't expect to change people. Bravo! You have the right mindset. I congratulate you.

We in the UK have much the same issues. I sped through America 51. It was sarcastic, hysterical, ludicrous and intellectual all at the same time. I was laughing at so many different parts.
So the problem with Corey Taylor is that he says many times that everyone can have their own opinions and not get aggravated which is entirely true but at the same time he also almost condemns other people for their own opinions

Wonder what is his solution then? One practical solution I've seen so far is Worker-owned Cooperatives. The Labor party in UK is pushing for this, a policy where employees have priority in taking over a company that wants to sell itself. Gov't will lend the employees funding so they can buy the company for sale. Not a perfect, guaranteed solution, but it's one step at a time. Mondragon Cooperatives has proven this works. For more info, checkout Prof. Richard Wolff's work on promoting this idea.

I like coming back now after Trump did a lot of great things and seeing that he was wrong on THIS topic. Overall tho I agree with a lot of what Corey says. But I do disagree with some.
I agree with his idea of saying what you want when you want. He used the football payer as an example. Great example. (Even tho I completely despise the kneeling it is his right) but then he contradicts himself by saying others should shut their mouth.
Corey also has a socialist view when it comes to how we socialize. Which I don’t agree with.
I do agree with his beliefs in our given rights and being more in the middle rather than full right or left.

Umm... how is he not doing that? It's just him. He's writing the book himself, giving the interviews himself, and not bringing his musical career into it at any point. He's presenting himself as Corey Taylor, opinionated person, not Corey Taylor, world famous musician and singer. He's written a book, not a Slipknot or SS album, or even a song. He's not doing this as part of a Slipknot tour, but as an interview for the book by itself.
He's not representing either one of those bands with his books. It's just him and he has just as much right to use his platform to promote his opinion as you do to make that dumb ass comment

I have loved your music since the beginning. But Donald Trump has done more in his presidency. Then any other president in decades unemployment rate at its lowest in years. Employment rate is the highest it’s ever been. stock markets are booming breaking records constantly. If you really looked into your presidents accomplishments you would have a totally different outlook. I certainly did.
I love Slipknot and Corey and all...but I'll leave the political commentary to the likes of Noam Chomsky, etc. who actually know what they're talking about.
