- Backstage at their sold-out Birmingham show, Corey Taylor sat down with Loz Guest and talked about 20 years of Slipknot, from the highs, to the lows, and everything in between.

Can confirm, I'm glad to see the 20 year olds discovering Slipknot the way I did back in the day.
Known about them for years but never actually listened to them till a few months ago, honestly wish I got into them sooner.
My cousin introduced me to slipknot when I was 6. My first song was devil in I. I fucking fell in love with metal that very day. And have been headbanging to slipknot since, repeating all the albums
As a teen myself I wish I could've been a teen when they first began, it looks so fun at concerts and just everything at the time. I've only recently gotten into metal but I love it so much
I'm 26. Been a fan for 10 years!
im 19 and i just recently started listening to them, i love slipknot
Every guy: sitting with your legs crossed hurts your balls
Corey Taylor: hold my balls
Again?
Corey Taylor : I dont have balls sooo.
That guy looks like a slim version of clown
oh gawd yeah :O
That is so true!! 👍👍
Or now....just clown
Jesus now I can’t unsee it
Omg he does lmao
Neck: 50 years old
Body: 20 years old
Legs: 10 years old
Its weird to see his head is bigger than his body
Ага, тоже ржал.
It was collected like Frankenstein)))
Necks atleast 57.....
Love a man with range.
Slipknot: For everyone
TikTok: for weird people, per Corey.

Corey looks like he hasn’t aged at all the last 12 years.
I see by your profile picture you're a man of culture
The devil worships him thats why

@@yannick338 no shit, many of people out there who is satanic, but they getting old so fast
I think he just take some "make up" on his face
It always blows my mind when people say what a douche Corey is. He’s easily one of the most interesting, humble dudes in the business.
But he is kinda douchey sometimes..
O.o
perhaps now. Even he'd argue otherwise if being honest about his past given the drug and alcohol abuse
people dont like honesty, which is just sad
SumireTV the "case" with Chris fehn which has yet to be proven true, he's "apparently" been an ass to fans back in mid or so 2000s but he was also fucked off drugs and always drunk then, there's a few more I can't really think of but other than that he's been pretty fun and nice to most people

That look on his face when he got the award is so amazing!!
17:13 only Corey Taylor can make a burp sound like a metal scream 😂😂😂😂
“Xyyeeh... scuse me...”
I can make a sneeze sound like a metal scream. I am able to project it. So, I took that technique and applied it to metal screaming and it worked. It was a Mastodon ish viking yell. haha
i was wondering if that was more metal burp or more metal growl (scream), but i think corey wanted to do metal burp and metal growl (scream) both in the same time 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Get that man a table to put his coffee down

But what if it's actually hot tea?

I have NEVER seen cory Taylor actually lost for words and completely stumped during an interview ever through the history of slipknot. All I can say is well done kerrang, you actually managed to quite the loudest voice in metal and drive him close to tears.
Corey's reaction to the hall award is pretty insane!. Slipknot for Life!. What an incredible band, been following since the start!.
It was so so sweet😩💓💫

Corey needs to get on the Joe Rogan Experience. BADLY.
Absolutely, they'd vibe off each other so well
Him and Clown. or even the whole band. Biggest issue with groups this big. You kinda wanna hear from everybody but the difficulty in managing any group with more than 3 or 4 people is high. lol

Wasn't planning on commenting on this video but after seeing Corey's reaction at the end, I have to say that Slipknot is way more important than people think and Corey does an incredible job steering the ship with Clown. Rock on, Corey!
Been a fan since 99 and will be a fan till the day I die. Will hopefully be taking my kids to their first Slipknot show (which will be their first concert) this summer! Slipknot forever!
@lucas jones Very doubtful. Even if tomorrow they put out a full on, by the book pop song, complete with a Justin Beiber cameo. I would still be a fan of their old stuff. So hence I would still be a fan.
Did you see the original full length demo cd's from 96 & 97 shared by Black Heart this week?!

The part when Corey started tearing up got me in the feelings.

That was very touching. I genuinely thought he was kidding around about being overwhelmed when they gave him that award at the end. So cool that it meant that much to him. Bless him, what a lovely man.
Corey’s reaction to the award made me tears eyed. He’s such a genuine and humble guy.
I love how humble Corey is despite being in one of the most famous metal bands in the world and how he teared up at winning (yet another) Kerrang reward.
Love how humble and down to earth Corey is. And I think it's the first time in Corey's whole life that he's speachless, at - 25:03
Just love the fact that he's not afraid to show his emotions. It's really hard not to love him❤️
Corey looking like 2013 corey haha. I still miss his long hair tho.. He was getting close to the vol. 3 hair. But he looks happy and that's good.
2013? Dude looks the same since 1999 :]
@@DiskoKDiskoL Haha yeah true but I was more talking about the hair he has now, he had that in 2013 as well
Rick Grimes S5 is the same haircut than 2013? I thought it was, but not as long as in that year
Rick Grimes S5 his hair is shaved from the back as in 2018 or just the sides shaved?
@@bmg.covers8002 Sides only. At least what i've seen from other photo's and vids.. it's his hair but I liked it better when it was longer last year. I hope he grows it back
okay wow.. that surprisingly hurt to hear Corey talking about 'my pain', i didn't realise how aware he was of some of the things people have been saying, i remember hearing it for the first time as soon as the album was released, i cried my fucking eyes out and it instantly became one of my favourites from the album, it's such an incredible song, and at least for me it was so easy to connect with and understand, and i mean every single word, every single feeling.. like so many of slipknot/stone sours songs, it just feels so personal and it represented EXACTLY how i was feeling throughout a lot of 2018, the entirety of 2019 and still to this day to some degree, the song, and the entire album will always have a very special place in my heart :) and i'm so glad i was able to be here to experience it.
anyway, i've not even finished watching this interview yet but it's already been fucking incredible and been a great way to start the day, thank you Loz.
and thank you Corey, i fucking love you, long live the knot, we are not your kind \m/
I understand what the songs about I understand the aesthetic an the meaning it's just not a good song in my eyes
Awesome comment
Tyla Porrett-Ward what does “my pain” mean to you
@Lucas Novaes yeah that's true, i mean i remember Jim talking about the "lack of guitar solos" after hearing what some people had said, it just caught me off guard and surprised me a lil bit hahaha.
but oh yeah, social media can be fucking toxic and i decided to delete all of mine in march/april last year, and that's just me, i can barely even imagine what it's like for people like Corey, i was so glad when i found out that he was stepping away from it though
thats crazy buuut
This is why I love Corey Taylor he humbles himself and not afraid to show his emotions. Thats what makes him an amazing person and thats why he is very well respected as a musician. I love the fact how he gave Clown the credit that he deserves for having the vision of Slipknot. He doesn't take credit for anything he gives people credit for his success. He thanks fans he thanks bandmates.
I thought the title said he is close to leaving the band, almost had a heart attack

to be honest. Corey leaving Slipknot, would push Slipknot to a next level. Right now Slipknot is a Coreyshow. Without him and a new singer with new energy it could move this hole thing to the next level

Seeing a humble human being being so touched by an award after a 20 yrs career is so awesome congrats to Slipknot you guys deserve it
I'm definitely a fan dating back to '99 and now I'm proud to say my 7yr old daughter is a fan.🤘
Corey's reaction to receiving that award was absolutely priceless. It truly shows how grateful he is for the life he's lived, and the things he and the rest of the band have achieved. Very cool.
Corey is so humble! He has always been so polite and professional. He is one of last REAL musicians out there and he and his band members proof that rock is not and will NEVER be dead!!! 🤘🤘
but uhh slipknot doesnt play rock music ... ROCK music is dead
@@user-ew3mq5kl3v I would love to agree since I listen to some rock aswell but I dont dare go too far from metal genres because nowadays rock is starting to blur its borders with pop
Corey has stated a lot of things about the american president and let me tell you, a person like him can influence a lot of people. You can't be professional and talk so open about pollitics on tv.
@@nocturnal03 yep. Millionaire hating millionaires and they say they're our level. I love Corey but musicians and entertainers can't pretend they know what's best for the USA while they themselves negatively contribute to 75% of the social issues.

Doesn't matter if you're a plumber, doctor, store clerk or musician/actor, you're allowed to voice your opinions. People flock to youtube "political influencers" and fund their patreons just to hear opinions they agree with lmao, so why couldn't anyone else with an internet connection, using social media, or being interviewed say what they think? People just get butthurt because you don't share his views.
I remember being 18 years old in 1999, Portugal, and buying the album of this crazy new band called Slipknot that I loved so much since the first time I've listened. And man, I was so mad that I couldn't find the first edition of the album containing "Purity" and "Frail Limb Nursery" because i did have the chance to buy that first edition earlier, why the hell did I wait for near Xmas time? Corey’s been holding that cup of coffee for 20 long minutes that made me think why anyone didnt notice him looking at it for quite a long time where he would put it.

I remember getting IOWA from HMV when I was about 10 years old in 2002.. what a long way Slipknot has come

Corey, if you're seeing this, I'm one of those a long time fans you're talking about lol I'm from the UK, I've been listening to Slipknot, collecting all your merch, t-shirts, CD's/DVD's etc for as long as I can remember!
Now I'm living in Japan and I can't wait to see you guy's at Knotfest here in Japan next month.
All the recognition you're getting is well deserved, and Yes please, make those NECA figures happen, I'm an big action figure collector myself and I need Slipknot figures in my life.

What I love about Corey is his humbleness and he’s so articulate. He really delves into detail and loves to talk, you can get a sense that he would be great to have at the dinner table for a deep conversation or even on the piss!
Clowns vision is what makes slipknot successful thro the years! I LOVE CLOWN
Corey will forever be my hero. He is one of the biggest metal vocalists in the world and is still so down to earth. 🤘🏻
gotta be honest I miss Corey on Social media
Yeah, me too. I had once a discussion with him about hair styles (jokingly, of course). Some other guys were really pissed off because I was confronting Corey Taylor on Instagram.
But I also get it, that shit is toxic if you can't handle it.
Due to his extreme TDS he was probably paid a visit by the Secret Service to have a little chat about his tweets. Believe me, I read his Twitter and there's nothing but negativity towards Trump and Bill Barr. Quite a few of those tweets/retweets looked defamatory/borderline seditious and I bet he was told to knock it off and given a couple choices.
1. Stay off social media.
2. Pay a hefty fine.
3. Serve jail time.
Guess which option he took.
Rebel Fighter nah, I think it was the harassment his wife was getting so they both took a step back.

Well, I guess it kinda depends. Pointless music industry 'thanks for making us rich and yeah, you're quite cool, too"-shit - fuck that. Real appreciation ... whole different thing.
Because it's not just a meaningless award, it's more that that, it's recognition for all of their musical work.
Hahahahah
I think what he means by “awards mean nothing to us” is they don’t set out to write award winning material. If that happens, then great, but the focus is never on that
Corey needs to narrate my life.. That voice.. The darkness between Slipknot and the lighter Stone Sour.. It really connects with the duality of my emotions.

The fact Corey still gets choked up getting any sort of award now melts my heart. I've only seen Slipknot once in 2019. Even though its tamer than what they were doing 20 years ago, they put a lot of theatrics into their performance and their playing is on point.
