That’s sounds like a good balance. I’ve started to do something similar and I can’t just give up things entirely quite yet. For example I still really like my pancakes but I put walnuts and chia seeds in them
Damn last year I spent £2000 in takeaways 😭 put on 20kg and felt like utter rubbish. Have thankfully managed to lose 12kg since but still can't believe how badly I treated my body and bank account.
Imagine being raised on healthy food since u were in your mother's womb. Our taste buds are formed from that time and if his mother never ate these foods then he literally never developed a taste for them. It's quite fascinating as much as I love pizza 😄
Well, they only ate junk food and to be honest some of their conclusions were exagerated and the tests were not exactly scientific and correctly performed. The idea behind the TV show was great, but the way it was realised not that much. For instance, the 3 kg Peter gained are most likely due to water retention due to the huge amounts of salt in the diet and not due to fat on the organs. 3 kg of fat is too much fat to be gained in 3 weeks. Part of it is fat, but the most part is water. That is also why people tend to lose a lot of weight in the first week of a healthy diet, water loss. And this was only one of the questionable statements/results.
I wonder if there would be any difference if you make the burgers yourself and buy the toppings etc yourself. Also when you make the pizza dough yourself etc.
Tbh I think ANY huge change of diet ( whether really healthy or unhealthy) is always going to have pretty drastic short term effects on the body. It would be interesting to see what 6 months of this diet would do and if they still had all the side effects
Very interesting! I like the format. Only one thing: I would have loved seeing them do the opposite experiment (with healthy food) right after this experiment for 21 days to see whether/ how quickly the effects can be reversed.
I changed to a Mediterranean diet a month ago and I can tell a huge difference and I’m excited to see more changes in the coming months. I’m a heart attack survivor very young at age 39 and I have to change or I won’t make it next time
ok so I live in Italy and pizza here is definitely not such a health hazard. a usual pizza will have around 800 calories - half or less than half of an adult's daily intake. it's made using olive oil and not butter and it has a more balanced quantity of toppings...I won't say it's healthy to eat very often but really it's not as bad as the UK version of it is.
Bruh, no one uses butter to make pizza anyway. Besides, butter is not the villain even if it was used. It’s the cheese, the high sodium and high fat and sugar sauces that make the pizza unhealthy.
Yeah, there is butter in some doughs. I work at Domino's in America. There is butter in the pan dough. And they use that to make the bread twist, bread bits, and pan pizzas. But yes the cheese is a killer too.
@@JugglingFinance I didn't know that. That's interesting. But I think we all can agree that people don't usually put butter into pizza, it's not common and not something one would think about putting into pizza.
More likely to use palm oil or hydrogenated vegetable oil, whatever is cheaper. Agreed. Your conditions suggested might make for a better, or more interesting, experiment. However, what I got out of watching this is that 1. rarely does anyone consume ‘junk food’ in the proper amounts needed and 2. this type of food is addictive making it more difficult to be balanced.
Thank you so much for sharing! Junk food is so seductive yet so dangerous. Makes me feel really scared. Yes agree with what is said here: An experiment with healthy food would be AWESOME!!!!

Hers sounds very extreme considering she’s a complete clean eater to control it.. I’m sure you’re aware of the dietary changes we often have to make to manage. IBS is often underplayed as very easy to live with when it isn’t and you should be aware of this as well
I love how Hugo pulls out in the first week after attempting to be a “role model”
Hu-GO
He was much too vain for this experiment. He seems to be a control freak and he couldn’t handle not having control.
when was this filmed?? 2013 2014 or more recently?
He was showing some Ed signs so it could be related to that, especially orthorexia
Posh boy problems, hey?
I went to the ER in critical condition and I was told that my body does not digest greens. It was really a surprise for me. Once in a while, I treat myself to a nice salad knowing I will pay for it with excruciating pain for a day or two. Some people treat themselves to junk food, I treat myself to a delicious salad. Til this day, I don’t know why!😔
because greens have oxalates
As a spinach freak, I feel bad for you. I think I'm part goat or something.
@@dixonpinfold2582 lmfaoo
You probably dont have the amount of gut bacteria to digest greens. Check out Dr. Berg's channel
Everyone is different. I can’t digest raw cabbage or raw kale.
After spending over £700 in uber eats & mcdonalds last year, I made a new years resolution to only order 2 a month (that is probably still a lot to some people but I'm trying to be realistic so that I don't totally give up). This is making me happy about my decision to make a change 😂😁
Hey, Good work! Stay strong at it!
@@Kardinaalilintu thank you so much 😊
That’s sounds like a good balance. I’ve started to do something similar and I can’t just give up things entirely quite yet. For example I still really like my pancakes but I put walnuts and chia seeds in them
hey, any updates? how’re u doing?
Damn last year I spent £2000 in takeaways 😭 put on 20kg and felt like utter rubbish. Have thankfully managed to lose 12kg since but still can't believe how badly I treated my body and bank account.
How lovely is the bedside manner of the doctor? What a caring person.

Imagine being raised on healthy food since u were in your mother's womb. Our taste buds are formed from that time and if his mother never ate these foods then he literally never developed a taste for them. It's quite fascinating as much as I love pizza 😄
@@high.vibrational.collective I honestly think that guy struggles with orthorexia. However, nobody talks about it because it is less common among men.
@@annasie772
You are right. He was more scared of the foods than not been used to the taste.
He definitely has a form of ED, whether he already had it or as a result of taking part in this experience
I knew junk food was bad but not to the point where it has those kind of results in 3 weeks! Im glad Im not a takeaway junkie.
It would be interesting to see what 6 months of this diet would do and if they still had all the side effects
it's bad but it's way more exaggerated for the sake of having a tv show
Very interesting!
I’m a heart attack survivor very young at age 39 and I have to change or I won’t make it next time
Good luck
All the best mamma💜
That’s a great way to eat well rounded and enjoyable. Very easy to do as well.
Im sure there was a study that came out that Med diet is the healthiest - honestly, i think it also looks the best and tastes the best too
All the mukbang youtubers need to see this. If this is the damage caused in 21 days.... wow,
some of them have been eating like this for years
I was thinking the same. They should have put those mukbangs to test for this study.

"1 in 6 children in the UK eat fast food twice a day."
That is astonishing.

ok so I live in Italy and pizza here is definitely not such a health hazard. a usual pizza will have around 800 calories - half or less than half of an adult's daily intake. it's made using olive oil and not butter and it has a more balanced quantity of toppings...I won't say it's healthy to eat very often but really it's not as bad as the UK version of it is.
Bruh, no one uses butter to make pizza anyway. Besides, butter is not the villain even if it was used. It’s the cheese, the high sodium and high fat and sugar sauces that make the pizza unhealthy.
Where exactly would you put butter in or on pizza? The crust I guess? We don't even do that in America...
I lived in Italy in the 90s, didn't have kitchen access, was a poor English teacher so couldn't afford restaurants and still ate better there than I ever have in my life. Food is higher quality, fresher ingredients, even simple cheap things like sandwiches.
Wow that doctor was so sweet.
Imagine having a doctor that cares enough to give you a hug. Most of us are lucky to get 5 minutes face to face where the doctor's attention is half with you and half elsewhere
Sweet but overweight. I dislike people in health professions who don't live what they preach!
the more junk food u eat the more u eat cause it makes u often hungry, try healthy food and see the difference such as hunger, energy, ur body feels easy to move, etc.... .
To be at risk of a stroke in only two weeks? Wow that is shocking!
I gave up junk food in January 2020 and went low carb. It’s the best health decision I’ve made in ages. No turning back. Most people don’t eat a daily diet of junk food - I hope not. But for most of us, it’s what unhealthy eating does to us over a longer period. 😳😉
The way Haileys doctor hugged her, was so beautiful.
Why did Hugo even sign up for this if he was just going to have a bad attitude?

It's lovely to see and hear Michael Mosley after listening to his podcasts. RIP. Your memory is a blessing.
Imagine my shock that Hugo was the first to quit, I love how even the doctor said that it wasn't surprising
the lady with IBS is amazing, bless her for trying
I have IBS-C and I couldn't imagine volunteering. It requires such a balance to maintain a healthy gut. If I eat something really bad I can be setback for a week or more. There aren't meds to right the wrong immediately. It is the difference between laying on the couch for an entire day or more if it inflames. I can only take Tylenol PM to sleep if it is unbearable. Bless her.
that made in chelsea guy quitting because he didn't feel like it, meanwhile that woman literally destroying her body and saying 'yes let's keep going' lol

Is NO ONE going to talk about how they consumed 50% more calories than they needed?
Also, wouldn't it be way more interesting if the amount of macros (protein, fats, carbohydrates) they had in this experiment were roughly the recommended amount?
Agreed. Your conditions suggested might make for a better, or more interesting, experiment. However, what I got out of watching this is that 1. rarely does anyone consume ‘junk food’ in the proper amounts needed and 2. this type of food is addictive making it more difficult to be balanced.
Watching this while fasting. I am not even hungry, I just tend to see food as reward and as comfort.

I wish more clinical trials are being done about the benefits of fruits and vegetables for us to not be so dependent on capsuled vitamins and pharmaceutical drugs worth thousands.
