It's worth noting that this is a truly excellent sketch in which not a single SNL cast member says a word. It's just the host and the musical guest, and they're both fantastic. I can't think of another sketch that does that.
Well except Bill Hader who kind of ruins the joke at the end by spelling out what the joke is supposed to be. But, you know what, he gets a pass because he's Bill Hader.
@@trickytreyperfected1482 I don't think he ruins the joke. He's just the commercial announcer, telling you the slogan that was clearly written by Hamm.
i know, right? legit scared the shit out of me. I literally paused for a second before laughing. Damn, dude scary as hell. And Michael acts so scared, he made me scared for him. 😆
I saw him in concert years and years ago, back when Home was popular, and in between songs, he's would crack jokes to the audience. A great entertainer!
Watch the black mirror episode with Jon Hamm it's called White Christmas season 2 episode 4 and no you don't need to see the other episodes before there all stand alone episodes. You wont be disappointed.
That's not what he's doing at all. He's mimicking the mannerisms of a restaurant host interacting with people at their table. Smiling, with the fingers on the lips.
I am feeling the exact same way! I watch hours of SNL and have no clue how this one was missed. I think UA-cam hid it under the couch or in the closet, where we couldn't watch it. 😩
I remember watching this when I was a young lad, it stayed in the back of my mind for a while until I stumbled upon it again recently, man is it funnier than I remember
jon is so perfect in this and michael is so hilarious. they both did so well. michael looks so unhappy and unsure at the beginning, and you think maybe he isnt that good at acting or maybe he's nervous, and then you watch the rest of the sketch and you realize how great he is
That's exactly what I was thinking. "Michael looks really stiff in this sketch." And then the rest of the sketch played out and I realized what a fantastic job he did!
glad i didn't have to manually type this in the search bar after drew gooden mentioned it, instead youtube crawled inside my brain put it on my recommended
Michael Bublé really did incredibly here. The fact that he had to sing everything and the panic so prevalent in his voice are what give this sketch life.
Well obviously Jon Hamm is great in everything. But I was extremely surprised and pleased to see that not only can Michael Buble act, but he has fantastic comedic skills as well!
This should go down in the list of best SNL skits. These two play well off of each other here. You don't even need to know who they are in order to appreciate the comic situation - one is a crazy hollywood star who thinks he's hit on an incredible idea and is willing to go to great lengths for the name connection while the other is a poor coerced singer forced to change his name and perform by his psycho partner. The music is very catchy too.
i’ve been to a michael bublé concert and i was actually surprised because he was hilarious, it was like surprise stand up comedy plus amazing music. his comedic chops are great
You should watch the trick or treat also from Jon Hamm, the closest organizer and the bar sketch he is definitely one of the best host that SNL ever had
I mean.. Hamm is not only a looker but also very talented and funny but Mr. Bublé showed a lot of acting talent on live TV. Kudos to him, Hamm and the writers. 👏👏
I'm here after Bublé's interview on Seth's show about a week ago; can't believe it's already been 10 years! Talk about a classic- that we all remember vividly 😂 Top notch writing from Seth, per usual
Bublé's facial expressions and his seriousness are what make this sketch so great and funny . If he was breaking character or even chuckled once, the whole thing would be ruined
John Hamm is an underrated host. He kills it. Also my only experience with Michael Buble has been those seltzer commercial and hearing my mom thirstin over him but he was really good in this. I know it's just an SNL sketch but plenty of celebs can't pull them off but he crushed it. I kinda want Hamm and Buble to get picked up as a sitcom.
Jon Hamm has the amazing ability to be silly and be intense and scary. I did not know that until I saw him in baby driver. He was so charismatic and happy, the whole movie, until he wasn’t.
Can't believe I barely found this today ! Also kind of hate that I find that death glare to be both terrifying and intriguing. Jon, ought to play a villain in a horror and/ or thriller.
You can see Jon Hamm break during this, but Michael holds it together so well. The closest he gets is towards the end with the “da da da da da…” that slowly trails off. You can see the ghost of a smile peak through at the death glare Hamm is giving him. But he somehow doesn’t break. That’s impressive and a really difficult aspect of comedy like this.
2:01 - 2:06 that transition from a cold, soulless stare to an instant smile is actually creepy lmao, Jon Hamm would make a great psychopathic killer character
this was recommended to me immediately after i finished drew gooden's new snl video where he mentions this sketch...
Same happened to me along with the Zac Efron High School Musical 4 skit
yooo same
omg same lmao
Hah! Same!
Same, hahah
haha

Ok but like Michael does such a good job with the voice and manneurisms of a terrified hostage
Jon Hamm does a good job with the voice and mannerisms of a hostage taker!

He looks really terrified 😂 He nails it!!
he seriously does
Yes. It's very convincing acting.

He’s hilarious.

He's Canadian...nuff said. ;)
It's preposterous to suggest that there is a field where Michael Buble isn't talented
After watching this I'm convinced Jon Hamm would be amazing at horror/thriller movies.
Watch the black mirror episode with Jon Hamm it's called White Christmas season 2 episode 4 and no you don't need to see the other episodes before there all stand alone episodes. You wont be disappointed.

Nice catch, I've seen this 1000 times and never noticed 👍
Looked like they were both trying hard not to break at 3:12 too
lol
I always thought that was him realizing he was one beat too early and trying to delay his stride while staying in character.
That's not what he's doing at all. He's mimicking the mannerisms of a restaurant host interacting with people at their table. Smiling, with the fingers on the lips.

Buble’s acting in this is so hilarious . He almost mouths “ oh my god” when he sees the ham chunk champagne.
