It's pre-recorded but it seems like Ryan G is legitimately laughing after the Cuisinart line. I think they went with that take because it was funny, or it works that the character is so happy at the moment he laughs.

I've been a devoted SNL fan for years, and there is an amazing library of great work from this show. This video stands above them all - a masterpiece. Beautiful and hilarious and so wrong - all in perfect balance. BRAVO!
@Dirk Diggler I agree. For awhile now I've been more excited to see pretaped sketches because they're usually the best. I'm not sure, but it seems like it started around the time when they were doing Lonely Island songs
I used to live/work in San Luis Obispo at a bar called SLO Brewing Co. (years and years ago). One night I came in around 10:00pm and noticed the place was occupied exclusively by men. I asked the bartender, "Hey, what the hell is going on? Where are all the women?" He says, "I guess Ryan Gosling is in town. Yeah, he's filming a movie around here, and so literally every girl is now following him around." I laughed and said, "Oh? Do they not know that he's with Eva Mendes? Do... do they think that they'll stack up?" Hilarious...

Amazing characters building in a short amount of time, this could honestly be amazing Christmas thriller or horror movie if someone ever decides to make this a movie it just needs to be handed off to the right director
The text font implies they're making fun on Tarantino films.
I am losing it at this analysis. I love it 😂
Lmao I would not use the term “childlike innocence” for two people engaging in such pda it makes everyone else in the room deeply uncomfortable
Even the editing. At 3:18 that jump cut makes things unsettling, catching you off guard, similar to how the people at the party feel
@@tiotito31yeah, I like that cut, don’t know why but it feels uncomfortable which is perfect.
Ryan Gosling screaming "Go get Santa!" was by far one of my favorite parts.
😂😂😂
Ryan would have been a better joker than Jared Leto
Joachim Phoenix??
@@jnt6239 "Joaquin" phoenix is on level with Heath Ledger....I'm comparing Jared Leto's joker...Jared on the conversation with Joaquin and Heath doesn't make sense...
@@toshiyapangaier7059 Ahh, I forgot Leto played the Joker in Suicide Squad.
@@jnt6239 lolo
@@jnt6239 as did the rest of the world
Ryan's facial expression before going over to the host is so menacing and the whole thing has that David Lynch vibe. I love Vanessa Bayer and wish she hadn't left SNL. This is one of my all time favorite SNL short films.Ryan Gosling is great here.
"Rudolph isn't here, then how the "F%#$ did Santa get here"....OMG, just brilliant
This brilliant little movie deserves so many more views.
"Go Get Santa!!!!!" lol I still laugh at that line. Perfect spoof on Natural Born Killers
It also looked like he was channeling Sean Penn in his performance when he said that line !LOL
Pram De Rooy and dressed like American psycho.
“I don’t understand... what you want me to do??” Lmao
Horror Squad Yes! I had the same thought as soon as I heard it. Perfect build up and then wham! Nailed it.
DAMNIT DAVID! USE YOUR HEAD! loool
This is Ryan Goslings best performance! I want a movie about these two!
This skit is perfect, really captured the awkward and fear and no one break character and smiled or laughed
Why does nobody in the comments realize that this was a pre-made vignette and not a live sketch
It's pre-recorded but it seems like Ryan G is legitimately laughing after the Cuisinart line. I think they went with that take because it was funny, or it works that the character is so happy at the moment he laughs.
I don't know why I love this skit so much, but I have watched it over and over and over again! Everyone in it was phenomenal!!!
Ryan Gosling: And that ladies and gentlemen is how you play comedy...SERIOUSLY...Russel Crow was right. Gosling is a comedic genious...
@Andy Tee I do not know what brought me to this video on this day, at this time, or how I happened to not only see the original comment, but also your reply, but GODDAMN I am so happy I did.
Easily, as funny to me as the actual sketch.
Thank you.
The most under-appreciated SNL skit ever!
I'd put it in top 5 SNL skits all time.
100% agree, it’s my favourite
Actually, it's the 3rd most under-appreciated SNL skit ever.
true that
Every once in a while, SNL creates a masterpiece, and this is one of those.
"Then how the fuck did santa get here david?" best line in this video!
Anthony Tinaj y
This is one of SNL evergreens. Great acting, fierce suspense, maniac Christmas lovers... For some of us Christmas really is a serious thing! 🤣
A christmas classic
i love how terrified Beck looks coming down the stairs lmao
“It’s looking a lot like Christmas…” that time of year to watch this skit… again & again! 😆
Only Ryan Gosling can smash a candy cane & believably turn it into a genuinely terrifying weapon of imminent Cristmas bloodshed.
"Back away from the window Santa!"
That's some Tarantino shit right there.
David Lynch shit. Blue Velvet.
A mix of both. It has Lynch'sldiscomforting awkwardness, but also Tarantino's font and style.
Very Pulp Fiction
Tarantino would stretch this to a good 12 minutes with hella inserts of really tight macro shots.
RuffneckRaven And definitely some shots of feet/shoes.
"Everybody's going to stay right here & you're going to go upstairs & you're going to get that beautiful ancient man."
I can't stop revisiting this. It's a master piece. Some would say, hey relax, it's just a scatch and they would be right - but no! It's more - it makes me wanna see what happened after and before - to see their life before this moment and after - it's simply put - amazing
I feel the same. Especially since they said they were new in town. Did they have to leave their previous town? Are they on the run? I need more.
When Ryan says: "David, use your head" I lost it😂
Honestly the creepiest thing ever seriously! When they start kissing each other's faces I can't 😂🙃
it's beautiful... pure love
Alice Martine this is the creepiest santa sketch I've seen, I was kinda clenching cause I didn't know where it was heading.
I don’t think Ryan wanted to kiss her as much as she did 😜
I know right? I can't stand it when people make out.
Would you rather they give each other’s stomachs?
Someone make this an actual Christmas movie. Now.
Lz__ I will fully support this movie
So at the end they face the cold hard truth that there's no evidence that he's real so they both walk into the blizzard of Antarctica to find the clues and the credits roll up how bow dah
great acting..the expressions and cadence on each line is perfect !!!
I know I'm late, but can we talk about how beautiful the camera work on this was?
never seen a quentin tarantino parody on snl. this is great
joe ferro they've one on Django called Djesus Uncrossed
joe ferro More like Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.
They did a Tarantino parody back in the 90s when Travolta hosted. It was called Quentin Tarantino's Welcome Back Kotter. It was hilarious.
And now I feel old.
@@christopherrembert6356 that was written by Tarantino
Kasino 80 are you hamiltrash?!?!
The way "Santa" started crying, wow. Traumatized.
Came back to watch this again because Gosling wil be hosting again tomorrow night.
Ryan is so awesome in this: the creepy flickering mixture of emotions he conveys...
2:20 who's killed by that "I want to meet Rudolph" XDD
Me everytime. The way she said it was perfect 😂😂😂
MEEEEE 😭😭😭
This is extraordinary. Vanesa Bayer did a great job.
"I don't know what you want me to do."
🗣 Yelling;
"GO GET SANTA!!!!"
😆😂😂😂😂😂💀
The greatest and most frightening sketch of all time. Ryan is a treasure and must be protected at all cost. Vanessa was so underrated. She owns this sketch. Beck is great too
I've been a devoted SNL fan for years, and there is an amazing library of great work from this show. This video stands above them all - a masterpiece. Beautiful and hilarious and so wrong - all in perfect balance. BRAVO!
Diner Lobster and Papyrus are also pretty good
Oddly enough, the pretaped stuff tends to be of much higher quality. SNL has good writers but its hard for things to always go well on a live set
@Dirk Diggler
I agree. For awhile now I've been more excited to see pretaped sketches because they're usually the best. I'm not sure, but it seems like it started around the time when they were doing Lonely Island songs
- I don't understand what you want me to do...
- GO GET SANTA!
Vanessa is one lucky lady 😂
Yes because you want to your very own Mickey knox that is currently obsessed with santa. Mallory over there was still crazy as shit though.
+Ashton Matthews right??? thinking same thing...damn girl, got to snuggle with that and dance with him
+Ashton Matthews i thought the same thing. And then i thought.. i bet she wrote it :)
for what? sitting on santa's lap?
I used to live/work in San Luis Obispo at a bar called SLO Brewing Co. (years and years ago). One night I came in around 10:00pm and noticed the place was occupied exclusively by men. I asked the bartender, "Hey, what the hell is going on? Where are all the women?"
He says, "I guess Ryan Gosling is in town. Yeah, he's filming a movie around here, and so literally every girl is now following him around."
I laughed and said, "Oh? Do they not know that he's with Eva Mendes? Do... do they think that they'll stack up?"
Hilarious...
One of the best TV skits, ever! They’re all great! Ryan is scary AF his best skit, and Keenan’s comedic timing and expressions are hilarious. The dance scene 😂. You can feel all the emotions. It’s actually not Christmas every year until I’ve seen this.
