Another reason this raises eyebrows is that glass breaking in particular needs to be carefully planned out. It's a stunt, which is a pretty formalized thing on set. If that cane wasn't deliberately made from stunt glass, which it would be only if shattering were intended, it would be a very dangerous thing to all the performers to go around swinging through the air and shattering into shards on a whim of passionate improvisation. DiCaprio famously _accidentally_ cut his own hand on a small, heavy porcelain item and kept the take going, picking pieces out of his wounds and subtly showing them to the camera as he continued to deliver his monologue. But that is a different matter in every way possible.

She really keeps up with Gosling here without coming off as trying too hard and they both look like they’re having a ton of fun. The current cast always looks like they’re just trying to get through their lines so they can save their energy for the private afterparty :-P

3:25 this is honestly one of the most in depth scenes in an snl skit I’ve ever seen, it still shows their childlike innocence by dancing in front of audience of people on the homeowners table not knowing that it’s wildly inappropriate for the scenario that they are in. Even the music choice is just chilling with the very first words of the song saying “I must follow you” as if their never ending search for a mythical character will be the death of their innocence, to then panning out into people watching them and making the audience feeling sort of uncomfortable fully immersing us into this Christmas Party. Amazing characters building in a short amount of time, this could honestly be amazing Christmas thriller or horror movie if someone ever decides to make this a movie it just needs to be handed off to the right director

Rushed halfbaked crap trying to mimic Marvel's success (albeit a fading one. The era of superhero movies boom is closing to its end) not understanding that you need time to slowly build up isntead of going all in, crashing and burning. There was what, 4 years and 4 movies between Iron Man and the first Avengers? meanwhile they make a solo Superman movie, next thing he's already fighting Batman, one mediocre "bad guys" spin off, solo wonder woman movie, and bam, we're already in Justice League territory. Its too rushed. They done fucked up.

I think the theory is that comedy = emotion + something absurd, so they know how to work emotion. Like Kristen Wiig, Steve Carell, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne and co. have been able to move into 'serious shit' so easily, but your Daniel Day Lewises aren't super up for trying out their comedic skills on live TV.

I can't stop revisiting this. It's a master piece. Some would say, hey relax, it's just a scatch and they would be right - but no! It's more - it makes me wanna see what happened after and before - to see their life before this moment and after - it's simply put - amazing
