First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

Was I just watching a dog grooming video? Yes. Do I own a dog or plan to ever own a dog? No. Did I click on this notification as soon as it popped up? Yes, because cat people stick together. 😻🖤

I'm truly a cat person in my soul, but I have a dog because I really did need a dog as a service animal (cats, unfortunately are not legal service animals in the US) I love dog grooming, videos, but sewing with Bianca wins over of those!

YES, wear your fancy outfits to the grocery store! If it is washable and movable enough for whatever you're doing, it's good enough (and it's not like grocery shopping is a very dirty activity anyway)
Other people are simply _under_ dressed

For those who are asking about ease:
If you make a block that fits the way you want your clothes to fit (you don't have to have a skintight block unless you want to make skintight clothes), you can follow any of Bianca's tutorials and end up with something that fits just the same as that block fits.

When I did a tutu making course a few years ago, we Aussies all cracked up when the tutor talked about having dagged edges to the net because here we know dags as being either the $h*t on a sheep's bottom or "An unfashionable person; a person lacking style or character; a socially awkward adolescent, a 'nerd'. These senses of dag derive from an earlier Australian sense of dag meaning 'a "character", someone eccentric but entertainingly so'."

    • @paulinemegson8519
      @paulinemegson8519 Рік тому +10

Well not really. The idea of “being a dag”came from the sheep with a daggy backside. The meaning simply shifted a little from being an idiot, to being a funny idiot to just being funny. The term “dag” for a sheep with a shitty bum came from “dagging” in the clothing sense, ie a jagged edge, like the dangly bits on a daggy sheep

😹😹😹yep was having a quite chuckle every time dag was mentioned 😹😹😹Aussies do have a humerus use of language which we had a crash course in when we arrived December 78 😹😹😹 the first lesson was going to a BBQ and get told to bring a plate😹😹😹(means bring something that everyone can have some of it, does not mean bring a dinner place to eat off😹😹😹😹😹😹)

Yes, this was above any basic pattern drafting, but you broke it down and following the steps was do-able. With that said, you are just brilliant in your pattern drafting, top notch!! All those style lines, seam lines, lines, lines lines....lol!! Now, will I ever do this, NO, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching you do it. I always pick up a little tidbit for my skill level to utilize, and that is why I always watch your videos :)

While I love colour blocking, I would no longer attempt it lol. This is a good thing given that I have been known to sew sleeves backwards, and miscount the pieces in a 7 piece pattern…..yes, I believe the word is mathematically challenged (or scatterbrained…..either fits lol) I’m deeply impressed with the small novels written on each pattern piece too. That’s a level of preparation that I have never managed to achieve lol. It’s usually derailed by “oh I’LL remember” or “where the hell is my pen???” Or my personal fave “oh I can’t be buggered writing it all in……how bad can it go?” (Just quietly……bad……VERY bad lol) Watching you tho means I can just watch without having to do which is all good imho.

It wasn't nearly as intense as the beading you usually do, but I'm extremely happy with how it turned out.

Wow! That jacket is sharp. It looks beautiful on you. However, I noticed that you do not have a kick-pleat in the back of your pencil (straight) skirt. You have a vent. I put a kick-pleat in one of my daughter's fitted dresses when she was in college. None of her friends had ever seen a kick pleat before. I was inspired by an actress who wore seamed stockings under her long straight skirt (that was six inches below her knees) with a kick pleat (not a vent) in back. Every man in the room stood up to get a better look at her, as she walked by us down the center aisle to the stage. Seeing less of her was much more interesting. She did a wonderful job in her one woman story telling event; and, she got everyone's undivided attention by just walking by us.
She was dressed for the 1930's; and, she told a true story that happened in the 1930's. Yes, it takes more time and fabric to make a kick pleat; but, it is worth it

I would totally watch a video on puffed sleeves, I have decided it is something cute that works for me. I can even submit a photo of how NOT to do it unless you're gonna put elastic in the cuffs LOL (me in my sticky-outy puffy sleeves because the first time I just elongated the piece instead of slashing and spreading it like I'm doing for my next set, if I can wrangle the 60's machine into behaving again before I just say eff it, and finish the silly thing by hand.
I love these colourblock things, I'm maybe going to try some when I attempt to make a swimsuit (assuming I can get at least one sewing machine behaving well enough to do elastic). And my need to remove seam allowance so I can draw stitch lines cause I suck at sewing might even make things a bit more convenient, I won't have to cut and paste seam allowance everywhere!!
And I'm going to add some notches to my princess seam block, every time I assemble a garment, one side goes beautifully and the other always ends up half an inch off somehow. And no I don't stay stitch and yes, I probably should, it's just weird that one side always works and one side is always off
And also I've been acquiring linen remnants (silly me, going to a physical fabric store and expecting not to have something from the remnants bin follow me home), maybe if I don't find other uses for them I might make a colour block something someday! So far I've got turquiose, pumpkin and somewhere between bubblegum and hot pink, which might even work together without making my mother's eyes bleed (I have no taste in clothing, I have to borrow hers).
I love how this looks on you. I'd say it makes me miss having hips but I guess you can't miss what you never had, so I'll just be envious.
And the produce was lucky to see you out in something so spiffy!!!

This jacket has 'very rich, successful businesswoman on a vacation in Monaco' vibe, please don't ask me why, but I just see it 😂
Bianca, while I would almost never be able to recreate your designs, I think you are fantastic teacher. I can clearly understand what you're doing. Everything I know about patterndrafting I learned from you. And making of this jacket, while incredibly complicated, was still understandable. You are not confusing to me. However I still think that you are magician or witch, whichever one you prefer 😂

I, too, can't wait for cooler weather. Here in the eastern part of Washington state, we have been having 95 to 105 temperatures. I love this jacket! The coloring blocking and dagged front really makes it!
