    Nice review. Well organized and comprehensive. Also like the new people supplementing Dans channel.

    I have one of the Scupper 12. I’m not a big guy, 5.8 and around 170 pounds, but for me it feels pretty comfortable (the seat is actually comfy), responsive, easy to maneuver and easy to handle in and out of the water. It has plenty of storage. For some it may feels a little tippy at first, but once it gets going the secondary stability is great. The valves is something you need to get to know before you go into rough waters to use them properly. Overall I would say it’s a nice responsive small boat. I’m really looking forward to watch your honest On The Water review though.

    Disappointing... an advertisement than the honest reviews we've come to expect from Headwaters

      This was simply a walkthrough of the boats. We’ll be getting them on the water and giving our honest feedback in the next video.

      This was my thought too. More of a marketing sales pitch going over the guys Kayak. I'd much rather see and hear the views of someone who isn't connected with the Kayak in such an intimate way.

    Seth great video on two good looking kayaks. Any chance you can compare the Swell Scupper to the Stealth 480 fusion. Would love to see such a comparison.

    • @HeadwatersKayak
      @HeadwatersKayak  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks James! Interestingly enough, the first time I paddled the Scupper 14 was when it got dropped off along with a Fusion 480 at my old shop. I paddled the Scupper 14 first and was extremely pumped on the experience. Immediately afterwards I hopped in the Stealth. After paddling the Scupper, it felt huge, heavy, and very sluggish on the water. I think the Stealth would surf better, and it's got a bit more primary stability, but if I were choosing between the two I would personally go with the Scupper 14. Now if we were talking about the Stealth composites, that might be a different story...

    If they made the Scupper's using Thermoformed construction material to reduce their weight, I'd buy one in a second. They are too heavy to car top - for me.

      The 160 is going to be faster. We have a Tarpon 140 to compare it too for future videos, but I haven’t been in a 160 in years. Those are great boats.

    can you buy the seat by itself?

  • @happyrocker02
    @happyrocker02 2 роки тому

    You’re not getting fishing poles inside the kayak. 7/10 kayak. The seat is a very cheap seats, but the buttons to drain water make it really sweet.

    2 questions if you don't mind - can you sit side saddle on the 12 footer, and is there any way to access the front hatch while you are on the water? Looks like it might be too far up front. Love the design.

    • @jimmarsh9832
      @jimmarsh9832 Рік тому +1

      Yes and yes. Accessing the hatch means scooting forward into a difficult position...

  • @legendary_beaver

    I think these kayaks are way too much money for what you getting. Doesn’t really look all that comfortable but can’t say. Maybe since the market is still crazy but there’s no way I spending that much on one of those kayaks. It better be fast on the water but idk.
    I think $300 less on both is more of a fair price imo but you guys are in Cali so idk. For that price I’d rather get a more name brand kayak

    • @legendary_beaver
      @legendary_beaver 2 роки тому

      There’s just features for that price I would expect. Idk maybe I’m used to my fishing kayaks but for a thousand dollar kayak idk. Looks like she’ll take water in the cockpit on those rough days, I like that it’s meant for scuba divers so maybe that’s the price hike there. But the 12’ doesn’t look very accessible to the hull to store something like that maybe I missed it. Idk I don’t have a kayak of this style but I’d rather buy a wilderness tarpon with more features even though they’re a bit more.

    • @Zhy151Tex
      @Zhy151Tex 2 роки тому +2

      Same thing I was thinking too. Seat doesn't look comfortable. I have a Necky Vector 14 and wish someone would copy it. This is close but seat doesn't look great. The water bottle holder looks more designed for a huge thermos. Tank well being designed for a tank seems pointless as that has to be a small group of consumers. Idk kayak looks cheap and that price is high. Rather get a Tarpon at that point and know I am going to have a comfortable seat.

    • @legendary_beaver
      @legendary_beaver 2 роки тому

      @@Zhy151Tex I did watch a couple other videos on this kayak and they’re both pretty quick at around 5 mph.
      But still idk how comfortable that seat is

      I checked out the website and they don't even list the weight capacity either. I do a lot of kayak camping so weight capacity is a big deal for me. I am 210lbs so if the weight capacity is 300lb then yeah this won't work. I want to like it but it's tough. I would need to demo one before I spend that much but I checked and they don't have any in Texas.

      @@Zhy151Tex I got one of the last Feel Free Moken 14's on the market in 2020. 432 pound weight capacity. 28" wide 14'6" long. Only drawback is it's 80 pounds. Got it for $799 clearance though. Hell of a boat for kayak camping and fishing.
