Great review. Trying to make up my mind which Scupper to buy. This seals the Deal for the 12. Can’t wait to get mine. Thank you again.

Solid review! Think you just helped me reaffirm my first choice in a SOT. I'm a novice kayaker, but looking for a performance oriented boat that can do a bit of everything that I can grow in and develope some real skills on the water. Was leaning towards the WS Tarpon for a while, but may have to go with the Scupper 14 after this review, especially being that I'm in the Midwest and looking to do some serious paddling on lake Michigan!

Right on! Both those boats are great, but the Swell has a little more of a Salty Soul.

Great review! I'm just curious about water retention, because of the footwell being below the water line. I know the craft is able to drain when the scuppers are opened and you get the craft up to 5 knots, but what happens if you're caught in rough water with waves cresting the bow? Also, does the interior cavity have bulk heads between areas? I'm extremely interested in this as an upgrade.

Swell scupper 12 vs Crescent Lite Tackle!??? Which one has a much better performance on rapids class 1/2, maneuverability, choppy water, windy conditions, tracking, and stability? Thanks

    FANTASTIC REVIEW!!!!!
    now I want a Scupper 12
I believe the design of the Scuper14 is not at new, or unique to Swell.
Perception debuted the Prism 14 in the 90's.
It was 27" wide and had foot wells lower than the seat.
Appears to me Swell refined and possibly perfected the design.

    • @HeadwatersKayak
      @HeadwatersKayak  2 роки тому +1

Absolutely; this design is based entirely off of the original ocean kayak scupper. The goal was to take that design and modernize it. I think they did a great job with that angle. Certainly a unique boat in todays sit on top market.

Would you take a medium sized dog, Aussie Cattle Dog, in either one of those kayaks? Is there room for a rubber mat in the bow area of either one. I like the easier feel of the 12 as you described in the excellent video. Thanks

In the 12 for sure. The 14 could feel cramped in the cockpit.

Thanks for posting the review. Storage would be a problem with the scupper 14. So kind of narrowed it down to the scupper 12 or the sea eagle rz. I can only afford 1, leaning towards the scupper as I imagine it would perform and track better than the sea eagle rz. I live in Scotland there are retailers in England who sell both kayaks for delivery, im not in a position to try before I buy as the journey is to far.

I'd personally go with the Scupper. If transportation is not the issue, this kayak will be more enjoyable on the water.

The 12 looks like it would be a good surf boat that could also be a rec boat too. The ability to edge and manuver quickly might make it great for the surf. Please try it out there. Or better yet have a Fat Paddler try it in the surf.

Hey guys! Just finding this channel and video. Good video on the Swell Scupper 14. I researched them for a while and actually purchased a used one. I consider myself an intermediate kayaker and have paddled sit in as well as sit on top kayaks. If y’all have specific questions I would be happy to help if I can. I have kayaked mine in a bayou, river and ocean. We live in Pensacola and are lucky to have access to all types of water. 🙂

I'm over in Destin and have been pretty interested in the Swell Scupper kayaks. Doesn't look like there's anywhere in this whole part of the country that sells them though. I know it's a long shot, but if you would have any interest in some arrangement where I could come try out your Scupper 14 that would be great.

I live in South Georgia, about 10 miles from the Florida border. We camp at State parks and are considering which kayak to get for those types of waters. I want a quick kayak and leaning towards a 12'. Not finding many kayak outfitters near us to demo kayaks and paddles. What would be your recommendation for a sit inside 12' kayak for recreational use? I'm 5'2" and 130 lbs.

A Pungo 120 or Liquidlogic Saluda would be solid options. If you want faster than that, check out the Wilderness Systems Tsunami 120 or the FeelFree Aventura.

    Hi
    Great reveiw.
Have you paddled either of these in choppy seas?
Here in the SW of England, I'm right on the coast and dont really have any rivers or big lakes, so i will be paddling in the sea.
Im really drawn towards the 14, but the 12 would be fo much easier to store and transport.
Been also looking at the Tarpon 120 and perception Triumph 13.
The 120 I think, will be a little too dull and functional, although it does sound like a great boat, the Triumph sounds a little more playful but again rather large to store and transport....
    I just can't decide...😂

SOT's work so much better for me with limited range of motion in hips and knees. Getting out of my whitewater crossover is comical for my friends. I have an ancient OC scupper classic I'd like to replace.
