"socolofi" is prononced the 2nd way John stated - "Sock-a-lawf-eye". Ross Socolof was a friend and that was how his name was pronounced. Laif DeMason is also an acquaintance of mine. Scientific names that are named for a person are pronounced the way the person pronounced their name. Same for ones named after a location.

I did an entire 10 gallon ramshorn snail scape with spider wood, anubias nana petit, and dwarf sag. It's easily my favorite bulletproof combo of all time.

I’ve been able to buy Java moss only once and I’ve just used the same one in every tank I’ve ever had it in - I even have given some to a friend. After I take some away it just explodes back once again and the shrimp love it.

Hi there 😊 I love this list. I totally agree with you about Buce and light. Mine seemed to have been failing in a lower light tank. Moved 'em to a tank with higher light, and they began to look great. Sag is one of my favs. Set it and forget it!

This is unrelated so my apologies, I just want to say thank you, not for anything done directly but rather for your time on UA-cam. I have lived several lifetimes we can say due to health ailments, nevertheless though, I have been an off and on fan due to those health issues. All this being said, I now have 11 tanks and they are all full of life and cannot love a single less than any other. Where I’m grateful for though is that through out that time you guys have been a steady source and flow of both optimism and correct information in tricky situations. It likely only a dream but if I had it my way I’d live just taking care of them and other people fish and tanks. What I’m saying is that even if I need direction, keeping fish gave me a purpose and me and my wife to bond over. My home is now full of beauty and I can’t give you all the credit cause I certainly put in my own time. But without you guys I have an empty home with the tv running all day with no one talking and everything relied on what was on tv, what was happening with other people or accidents that turn into adventures. Thank you guys and all my fish are fans of your 🐟🐠🐳🐬🌊🥰, love you guys, stay happy and healthy, HapiPETS

I have an anubias, not sure which type specifically, but I just let it float freely at the surface, and it's been doing just fine for the 16 months I've had it in the tank. Indeed, it started to sprout new leaves recently! Somehow, despite being free floating at the surface, snails always manage to find a way to climb onto it. *boggle*

❤ Hello! I recently found your channel!
I loved it and have guided me a lot regarding what I want to do, but I still have doubts, because I don't want to hurt a fish for anything in the world.
I wanted to start with a fresh water aquarium, but before putting animals in I want to first do the planting, wait to see how everything goes and then add some shrimp, then if everything goes well add fish, but I'm not sure which ones to add and how much.
The aquarium I want is a 60 liter one. What do you recommend? Could I ask you for a video about it please?
Can I start with a planted aquarium, shrimp and then add fish? Or could it be dangerous? I want small fish, like the size of danios, but I think these are not suitable for fresh water. What do you think? ❤
Thank you very much for your channel! It's really beautiful and very relaxing to listen to you talk! 🐠🐟🐡🦐

Can I assume you use a CO2 system for your beautiful plants? New to planted tanks. I am researching an affordable - easy CO2 system.

Idk jf theu still do it but tropica had this really simple co2 system, just a piece of plastic for co2 to diffuse, attached to a tube, tube attached to a canister of co2, bought the whole thing and a co2 refill kit for 20 quid, idk if that's just a pets at home thing tho

It’s funny when people as if a glue is safe for their fish. Have your tap water tested. EPA monitor levels but public water does not remove pollution. Trace pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceutical chemicals, petrochemicals, forever chemicals, etc. it’s the new norm, sadly.

I'm an experiended fish keeper. In the past I had 17 tanks and had lots of Disqus, and did quite well. I even had one salt water tank, I got burned out and had health issues where I couldn't go to the basement where my tanks were and ended up giving all my fish and tanks away. Now I have decided to start again with a few tanks (not in my basement). Most newbies go overboaard buying many fish then having to buy more tanks. Well, I am past that but have now found myself going nuts over plants. I promised myself I wouldn't get obsessed with fish, but then I have done the same thing with aquatic plants.

I added Anubias Barteri Nana to my 5 gallon a year ago, but I planted it into the Fluval stratum with Seachem Flourite in top. After seeing this video and reading other articles, I realized I should've planted it on a rock or wood, but the plant is actually growing OK. I have new leaves and it's getting larger. Maybe CO2 is the reason but it seems fine so I'm going to leave it alone.

What plants would survive in regular gravel.36 gallon bowfront led lights that came with the tank

    • @unrulyevil
      @unrulyevil 7 місяців тому

Nothing will survive regular gravel. Buy root tabs and stick them everywhere. Next to plants. What’s does 36 gallon bowfront light mean? What’s are the specs? Your description does not give any info. But most of the plants on this list will survive with whatever stock lights you have.
