I hope they'll keep the specialists system, it was by far my favorite mechanic in 1800 In before Brunomus Ironbrightus, the Siege Giant that produces catapults and war horses out of a sword smith :D
Funfact! The Romans used snails to get that rich royal purple! It took an unreasonable amount of snails to make the dye, but I just think that's a really neat little nod to history.
Which is why it's called 'royal purple'. The snails were rare and as you said it required an unreasonable amount of them. This meant that only the richest and most powerful people could ever afford purple clothing. ie, kings.
It goes back even further than the romans. The phoenicians were making dyes from the sea snails. The unique items they could produce is said to be one of the main reasons why the assyians and hittites allowed them to continue. Maybe there’s a link between Carthage being a Phoenician city and the romans trading with and the defeating the carthaginians and the journey of this dye throughout ancient civilisations
Me: What time is it? Taka: Well, you have a clock on your phone, some have the time on their wrist. The time on the wrist may be digital or analogue; consisting of hour hand, minute, and second hands... Great video keep it up. but...
I love the idea of the specific roman temples giving buffs... Like say Pluto boosts mine's etc, venus can be a population and happiness boost, Mars boosts military stuff. There's so much they can do with this.
They could use Temples like trade unions where you can choose a Deity and it gives a boost to the area. I would hope it more engaging than just that but I could see that happen.
It would be kinda cool to have a populare versus optimate theme. Balancing the needs of the patricians as the elite administrators who rely heavily on the stock of slaves who work the big plantations, service buildings, and construct the great works. The more anno-traditional progression of pleb population also require farm land (more for sustaining themselves rather than for export) and provide craftsmen and military manpower. But they can only promote up to being an equestrian class.
Looking at the article in German, it actually uses the English names for the population tiers and it doesn't give a German translation for Wader (but it does for smith and mercator), so Wader really is the English name for the first tier. I tried to google for what it might mean but couldn't find anything referring to population groups. The only thing I can think of is that it might be a name chosen based on the act of wading (through water).
I'd love to see multiple paths for religion in Albion, with various effects along the same lines as the population choice: A) Support local (paganism?) B) Enforce state pantheon C) Encourage missionaries (early spread of Christianity)
This culture approach reminds me of Europa Barbarorum, a mod for Rome Total War and Medieval2 Total War. When you take over a region, you get to choose if you want to keep the local culture or try to convert it to your own. This affects Public Order but also what buildings are available and most importantly, what troops you can train. You have Native troops which are your culture's own or you go for Regional troops which are region-specific. If you want to access the most powerful regional troops (those are usually noble-class), you have to allow local nobility to have full autonomy, it's basically an Allied state, not a colony.
I like the mechanics of the OG city building games such as Pharaoh. In this instance, you could choose a patron deity amongts a small selection... and by honoring them sufficiently (or ignoring them), it triggers random bonuses and maluses. I like your idea that two pantheons could compete, too!
Hey Taka, thanks for the overview! I had a look at the article and it looks like they updated it a bit. Right now it says, that once you've reached the last tier of the population you've chosen, you're free to switch it around. Later on, mixed cities of both Mercators and Smiths would also be (probably) possible.
I’m so happy they will be releasing this on PS5! I loved playing 1800 on console. Just wished they would have included the DLC content for the quality of life updates
the one thing I am possibly pumped about with this game is not only Anno but an aqueduct water system...... id really love to see that incorporated into the game!
So Its basically a two paths from anno2070, but is chosen on the upgrade stage, and you can later change your decision, but without ability to place 2 paths together
I am hoping that in terms of Relgion Anno 117 takes a look at Pharaoh and it's temple building. Would be cool if we have to construct multi-structure temples first build the base, then add columns and a roof. So you get to customize your temples
Wondering if the type of population on an island might boost a certain type of production chain or boost a certain aspect of economy (income boost or return of a school or senate with things to research/progress)
And why players would pick population which has 4 items in the chain rather than 2? Was anything about it in the article? What is the point in having 2 separate paths?
It looks to me that the image is missing some bits. Sheep -> Wool; Dye Plants -> Yellow dye. It could also make a big difference in taxation and population, so might balance out overall
@@Rapthormeat if they balance it so it will be pure cosmetic, meaning they do pointless work. I can assume you will have to pick according to an island fertility. But it also can lead to an abuse, like reloading maps until you get fertility for a chain wich maintanance cost less.
@@rushmore1321 ofcourse there is going to be "meta", but my brother in Christ we aren't playing League or Dota. Its mostly a singleplayer game. Also pretty sure its meta in Anno 1800 to not bother importing Cotton Fabric to OW, just use the 2 specialists that replace the input with Wool.
Taka, any chance you'd share a no music version of this? Every so often in the music bed, there's a low drone sounding noise that sounds like what i hear when i'm having hearing tests(i am hearing impaired for reference). it is VERY distracting, i couldn't finish the video, it's in the first 4 minutes of the video that i did watch - i did enjoy what i was able to watch though :)
Will there be characters? Magistrates, governors, legates, tribunes, engineers, architects? This is something all these city-buiding type games lack making them unrealistic & unimmersive.
Anno 2205 was the last Anno game I was able to play and I have to say it was a bad game. I did not play Anno 1800 yet cause I do not have a good PC to play it so I am hoping to buy a new setup to play Anno 117. Anno 2205 was wierd and I do not like it. :D

I really hope they get rid of trade guild tho. Really anoying to place. just give us slots in the factory.
@@Enkelados1makes it more strategical in my opinion

Team Sea Slug !
And yet it didn't take enough to get rid of that horrid plague...
I do hope we get some really big islands, maybe even bigger islands than Anno 1800!

Waders: Island dwellers which would include Britain and not just small islands like Isle of Man; Rome's major invasion of Britain was 43 AD.

As we learned with C:S2, it could still be concept art that was made in another game engine
I hope they make the combat more immersive
Hey does anyone else recall that part at the end of the Anno 1800 credits where it says something about seeing us in Anno 15-something
Cause I do
I wished we had another medieval anno… but this is the next closest thing
Can't wait for the release
Hopefully Anno 117 brings armies back and the ability to take an island without all the existing buildings going poof :)
