My BIGGEST mistake was buying a bunch of those random comic packs filled with random single issues. I would get those very early in my comic career. Now I’m thankful because they introduced me to some FIRE series that I later read, but it also left a bunch of in interesting comics that I never read. GREAT VIDEO!
Star Wars got me into collecting comics..in 1977. My mother took me to a comic book store for the first time to pick up the first issue, I grabbed Spider-Man and X-men as well and the rest is history. Only collect omnibuses now.
I just started collecting omnibus. I am really excited to grow my collection. Thank goodness I saw this video. My purchasing list got cut by half and now the list I have are all books I’m really looking forward to reading and keeping in my collection. Thank you for the tips in this video.
I agree with the buying of books based off what you know you’ll read!! Either today tomorrow or eventually and not being influenced on buying a book from reviews and reading comments that give me FOMO or think I need it when I’m so heavy on my backlog….I’ve bought books and never read them, sold it or traded them and got stuff from my pull or replaced it with a book I SHOULD have gotten in the first place. Especially with singles….I have over 100 singles on back issues to read and from a year out…it’s over whelming…and then still buying Omnis or Absolutes…yea it sucks being a collector 🤣
That BunkmastaB fellow sounds like he knows what he's talking about with what is and isn't a Kicks book. On your regret of Walking Dead Deluxe: "Hey Siri, what's the sunk cost fallacy?"
Great comments. I would read the Dark Justice League dark. I should look for it. I am picky since childhood. I read only certain characters since the end of the 60's. I just subscribed to your channel.
I like single issues because I like putting them in reading order. Collected editions are never complete. Single issues also open flat. Your biggest mistake is buying Omnibuses, and you haven't learned that yet.
Damn thats a shame man spawn is soo good I jumped on 300 and i havent stopped 😂. First 2 issues of gunslinger were not good for me. I was about to drop it but gave it a chance and im still on it now.
I got back into collecting this year with Knight Terrors and tie-ins...luckily I figured to put the brakes on the tie-ins by round 2, but yikes be careful out there. Also realized I don't care for horror books.
I have bought thousands of individual comics believing I would read them-I’m talking very long runs on titles-and still haven’t jumped in. It I read far more of the trade collections I buy (I’m obsessed with marvels epic collections). And I think it’s for the reason he says, the trouble of fooling with bagged/boarded comics vs the ease of a trade paperback. And some comics I’d rather read digital (runs or stories of titles I don’t collect at all). Funny how it’s all playing out after 48 yrs of reading comics.
I have alot of FOMO books I got when I first started collecting a year ago I keep them now because they remind me of when my son and I first started this hobby. Thanks
I that feeling with some of dc's golden age and silver age omnibuses i bought. I dont enjoy the stories so they end up being just art collections for me
my LCS is a chain of 5 stores, so they always order pretty heavy to spread the stock around. If you're willing to pre-pay, you can get almost anything.
Are here any Tampa area Floridians among the subscribers/viewers who can help me; Where can I find (monthly) comic shows/swaps in the Tampa area? I'm from Europe and will be 5 weeks in the area in may/june 2024. I'm subscribed to the Comic Den YT channel, they're from Orlando....
The sith book stinks but old republic is amazing. New republic is good too but vol 2 is gonna be really great. Empire vol 1 is a banger. Read old republic and tell me you aren’t gonna buy more lol
I had maybe the first 50 issues or so of both Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men I guess I was buying out of habit because they were just slightly more interesting than the regular Marvel Universe but then I realized I was never going to read them again and just gave them to my LCS with no regrets.
I honestly feel like getting single issues are trap... a trap that I fall into all the time.. I have so many single issues I pick up and I don't read. :( big sad face
The best of my worst purchases are all digital. That way I can memory hole having ever bought them and not feel that sense of guilt or waste by seeing them on a shelf.
You know when you’re a true collector when you look at a book on your shelf and say, “Why are you here?”

This sounds very similar to my own experience. Just substitute “Spider-Man” with “Captain America and The Falcon.” 😎
Listen, I'll happily take that Justice League Dark off your hands 😅
lol it's available comicsaredope.com/product/justice-league-dark-the-new-52-omnibus-like-new/
@comicsaredope done! Just waiting on confirmation, thank you so much!
The Mask movie got me into comic books. I purchased The Mask comics, all of them. Now in 2024 they don’t even make them ☹️🥺😭
So relatable. We gotta remember it's just part of the game. But some stories of collecting can be as good as the comics.
Better these days

I regret buying during the 90s Valiant and speculator boom 3 or 4 issues of X-O Manowar 14, the second appearance of Turok. What a waste of money!!
A Star Wars comic only resonates with me, when the comic heavily features characters from the original trilogy.

On your regret of Walking Dead Deluxe: "Hey Siri, what's the sunk cost fallacy?"
Bro I feel your pain. Just watched your new year video and this one. Subbed!
older IDW tmnt comics are super good tho. can't wait for you to read those
I always found Ultimate XMen to be a mesn spirited comic, where the characters were douches or unpkeasant. I havent re-read any of the issues since.
Great video! I have way too many unread FOMO books..
Great comments. I would read the Dark Justice League dark. I should look for it. I am picky since childhood. I read only certain characters since the end of the 60's. I just subscribed to your channel.
So glad I found this video! Great reminders for a guy getting back into the hobby.

I hate hardback comics for those reasons…. Plus omnibuses are way too heavy, only good for reading at a desk, lol.

Thanks for the info Kicks, you’ve saved me from making some of these mistakes. I know I’m still about to splurge here or there 😂
I look in my boxes and shelves and see a book that makes me say, "okay...I did that...at least I tried to expand my reading". Lol😂
I have alot of FOMO books I got when I first started collecting a year ago I keep them now because they remind me of when my son and I first started this hobby. Thanks
I really like justice league Dark and I want the Omnibus so bad. Also Dark humor 😂😂
I love comics specially predator I'm hooked in that character.
I that feeling with some of dc's golden age and silver age omnibuses i bought. I dont enjoy the stories so they end up being just art collections for me
How did you even get that lucky to get multiple 1:100 covers let alone 1 lol. I have yet to get a single 1:25 bc my shop just never orders enough

@@comicsaredope ah thats dope, i preorder everything but no luck. Youd think the seattle area would be more popular
My Top 2. 1. Batman & Joker The deadly due 2.Storm.
Can you trade in at your LCS for credit?
Read the first arc of Ultimate X-men it's really good afterwards start getting less and less good.
Been there, bro. Done the same thing.
I stick my favorite heroes

Ill take that xmen box off your hands
I’d sell it, but that shipping cost would be insane.
Not the worst, you could have bought them in CGC cases.
Sounds like me as I have come along with comics cringe 😢
You should sell al of them. Recoup some money and make space.
(Chants) , sell the books! sell the books! sell the books!💵💵💵😅😊
Lol I sold the Justice League Dark. I have a weird reverse FOMO thing going with the Star Wars books at the moment
@@comicsaredope Dude, jomo, Joy of missing out!
If you want to sell me the knights of the old republic let me know lol
Let's go
Buyer's regrets and FOMO are part of our DNA. I stopped my pull list for modern books to curb that some. 1st sub Great vid! 👍😊
If anyone wondering why they bought fantastic four silver age omnirun vol 1, and wants to get rid of it, then let me know! 😂
