i have the original one. Blew a capacitor on the first day. Company sent a replacement. Replaced the board. NO fix. Issa sexy paperweight though...and sometimes i just turn the knobs...thinking about what if....
It took almost a decade for me to have issues with mine. I know it isn’t perfect but it definitely did more than I could ask for in my setup. That’s why I purchased another

Already got interface apollo solo does the monitor controller make big differences
So you just need st1 for one audio interface for all the speakers I'm kinda lost i got a focusrite solo

I would only recommend this item for beginners. And it would be perfect for beginners. I for one use expensive RME AD/DA converters and high quality Focal and ADAM Audio monitors. This Presonus item colours the audio, which would be horrible for people who use high quality gear. Anything under $1,000 (brand new) probably wont be worth it for advanced audio nerds.
You are right about the coloring, I use it for reference. RME is beginner stuff too though.
